I found myself at Costco earlier this week getting some of the Little Hotties hand warmers for my mother-in-law, and I noticed they had their holiday tool deals sitting out in the center of the store. That means it’s time to pick the best in store Costco holiday tool deals for 2018.
All the same caveats apply from last year:

- This isn’t an extensive list of all the tools they have for sale, just the ones I found interesting, or the ones I thought our readers might be interested in.
- Most of these deals are in store and not online, and I can’t guarantee that every Costco location has every one of these deals. There’s also the chance that they’ve been sold out at your local Costco.
- Costco is a “club” style retailer, and you typically need a paid membership to shop there

Dewalt 50 Pc Mechanics Set

Channel Lock Rapid Fire
New this year is the Channel Lock quick loading power screwdriver. This 4V rechargeable screwdriver comes with three different color-coded bit cartridges that hold 6 bits each. To use a bit, you insert the cartridge and turn it until you see the bit you want in the top window. Then you just slide the lever forward and the bit pops out the front.
This looks to be very similar to the Craftsman 4V Slide Screwdriver that Stuart wrote about a few years ago.
The kit includes the charger, three cartridges and 18 bits: PH0, PH1, PH2, SL3, SL5, SL6, PZ0, PZ1, PZ2, SQ1, SQ2, T10, T15, T2, H3, H4, and H5. Yes that’s only 17 bits, I’m not sure what the 18th is.
Price: $20 (until 12/18/18)
Work Tunes
The 3M Worktunes safety gear bundle is back, featuring WorkTunes Connect Bluetooth hearing protectors and bonus Flat Temple Safety Glasses for $40. The Connect hearing protectors have a Noise Reduction Ratting (NRR) of 24dB and an integrated microphone so you can take calls while wearing them.
I purchased these hearing protectors last year and really like them. The battery lasts a long time and the headphones tell you how much charge there is when you turn them on. You’ll hear: “battery high,” “battery medium,” or “battery low.” I use them for a few hours a week and I think I’ve charged them 4 times since I’ve purchased them last year.
The bluetooth connection is very solid. Once paired, they connect to my phone almost instantly when I turn them on. I also haven’t had the interference or dropout problems I had with my Isotunes. About the only negative thing I can say is that the audio quality is a little muted — it sounds like its coming from far away. I’ve been told that 3M has improved the audio in newer generations, but I’m not sure which generation is being sold this year at Costco.
A charging cable is included, but not a charger.
Price: $40
Porter Cable Combo Kit
I also spied this Porter Cable PCCK614L4 4 tool combo kit. Costco is selling it for $100, which is about $90 cheaper than anywhere else. The kit includes:
- PCC670 recip saw
- PCC660 circular saw
- PCC601 1/2″ drill
- PCC700 flash l ight
- PCC685L 4Ah battery
- PCC680L 1.5Ah battery
- PCC691 cup style charger
- Storage bag
- 6-1/2″ 18-tooth blade
- 6″ wood cuting recip blade
- Double-ended Philips and slotted bit
Price: $100
Porter Cable Vacuum
Above is the Porter Cable PCX18406-5B 5 gallon stainless steel wet/dry vacuum. It has a 4 HP(Peak ) motor and 85 CFM airflow. It also has a blower port, something not all shop vacs have. Included with the vacuum are a 5′ hose, floor and “gulper” nozzle, and an inflator kit.
I really have nothing to compare this deal to. After doing some searching I can’t find this vacuum anywhere except eBay, and those are likely people reselling this Costco vacuum. The closest thing I can find is the PCX18301-4B which is a similar 4 gallon vacuum for around $60.
Price: $40
Heavy Duty Tarps
I bought a pair of these tarps a few years ago and it looks like Costco brought them back. For $22 you get two 12′ by 16′ heavy duty tarps.
For large heavy duty tarps these are a heck of a deal. I’ve used these tarps several seasons for collecting leaves. They haven’t frayed like some other cheap tarps I’ve purchased.
Price $22
Did I miss some good deals at Costco? Let us know in the comments.

I was just at Costco last night. I wasn’t looking out for tool deals, but this tool chest did catch my eye: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bmMtouz7DRE. That guy says he paid $650, but it was only $600 at my local store. Unfortunately, I only looked at it passing by and didn’t try out the drawers or anything, but it seems like a pretty decent deal.

looks identical to my 46″ milwaukee.
now i need a trip to costco.
Gordon
I’d put $100 that says it’s made in the exact same factory as the usual suspects.
Chris
Same as Husky.
Tom
Yeah, it looks just like the Husky box. I’m surprised there’s no full length drawer on bottom unit.
Jared
That PC power tool kit is a solid deal if you don’t need top-of-the line specs. I still wonder about the future of that brand.
Toolfreak
That’s an AMAZING deal for $100 since it comes with a 4Ah battery and a storage bag, though it also does come with a slow dinky charger so you’d have to factor in getting an actual full size charger to really make it worth having. Those dinky chargers are okay with the 1.5Ah batteries, but I bet it’d take quite a few hours to charge a 4Ah with one of those.

If you don’t need the safety glasses and don’t have the Costco membership, Amazon has them for $40 as well.

No safety glasses. There is also a Bluetooth and am/fm version for $63
KeithInKC
Actually there is an additional 15% off coupon that can be applied to the Bluetooth + am/fm headphones that brings them down to about $53. You apply it by clicking the little checkbox under the add to cart button and the discount is applied in the checkout.

Major downside to the worktunes is the shallow cup space for ears and the shallow foam rim.
My ears get pressed on and it gets annoying after a while.
Biggest issue is that the the foam rim is very shallow and rather stiff; so wearing glasses, safety glasses or sunglasses, there is a significant reduction in noise isolation … which I am not noticing with my basic ones and simple no brand fm/am ones, becuase they have deeper cups and a ticker and softer foam ring that seals better around glasses.
Beyond that, I wish it had a volume knob. They cheapened out and did not put one on, so you have to fumble for your phone, take gloves off to adjust volume based on the equipment you are operating, or if idling and the music is too loud then.
Really could be executed better.
Add a noise detection circuit and kick the sound up and down a couple klicks automatically.

I agree with most of what you’ve said, but I still think they are decent for the price.
I really haven’t found any hearing protectors that work really well with safety glasses. The flat ones that come with the headphones help, but being limited to one pair is a pain.
I’ve been using goggles that have elastic straps recently because I’ve been doing more grinding and find they work really well with these.

Are these Costco deals in-store only? I’m poking around their website and not finding the items.
Benjamen
The deals are in store, I did look and couldn’t find any of them at Costco.com.

The Porter Cable Tool Kit was $170 at my Costco about a month ago. If they have taken it down to $100 already that is quite a discount!
