Craftsman CMEC6150 6 Gallon Air Compressor

Lowes has kicked off Black Friday-like pricing on this Craftsman 6 gallon air compressor. I say Black Friday-like because this same compressor is advertised as an Ace Hardware BF special.

The new Craftsman air compressor, model CMEC6150, features a 150 max PSI tank and can deliver 2.6 SCFM at 90 PSI. It has a pancake-shaped 6-gallon tank, which is liked by many for its compact size and easy-to-carry shape.

It doesn’t require any maintenance, due to its oil-free design. The compressor weighs in at 30 pounds and has a large carrying handle.

Craftsman says that it’s made in the USA with global materials.

Price: $99

If you’re looking for a 6-gallon pancake-style air compressor, there are bound to be a couple of kit deals and compressor + nailer combo deals. This deal, where you get a 6-gallon pancake-style compressor for $99, isn’t a surprising one, but it’s a good value nonetheless.

Love it 3 products. All identical. Sold as competing products. What the heck is going on .

      Marketing.

      But that’s just a guess.

These compressors are bulletproof, I’ve framed entire houses with one (running just my gun but occasionally two guns with a splitter) and miles of trim on jobsites.

They are loud and not refined but it is a tried and true design that has been a workhorse for over 20 years. Really glad to see they are back to being made in the USA.

I picked up one of the Porter Cable variety earlier in the week they were already at $99 and this one was still $149 at Ace.

I have the Porter cable one as well and though a bit loud it runs great and I love the easy to access drain valve.. Well worth $99

This wasn’t made in the USA. It was assembled in the USA with global (foreign) materials. The label is a misnomer. I got the old 6 gallon and 20 gallon Jetstream air compressor from when they first hit the market when they were still made here and they still work flawlessly. Back when Pentair owned porter cable. Back when porter cable was still made in the USA. Can’t find parts for either one though. I also have a vintage Sears Craftsman 12 gallon twin cylinder belt driven air compressor/paint sprayer that still works really well. It really was made in the USA.

Sources? Or just an internet opinion?

The Lowe’s description says it in the first line.

Thanks for heads up. I compared the two on line and they are nearly identical. SBD assembles these units at Jackson Tennesse according to Lowes website. I could be wrong but Mapquest satellite view of the plant apparently does not show an outdoor regenerative thermal oxider necessary for paint work. Hence its possible this item is made overseas and snapped together in USA. Time will tell. ROL-AIR is still a good made in USA brand of air compressor but a bit more pricey by about 4x the cost.

yes like all the other SBD products – assembled in USA with global materials. etc.

    It’s a good step.
That said – If I didn’t already have a porter cable one from a few years ago I’d consider this one.

Yeah, this the same compressor as the Porter-Cable one under a different name. I bought a P-C model on sale for $99 at Home Depot but after reading all the negative reviews about poor QC and durability, I returned it and waited until the Ridgid went on sale for the same price.
