Discussion

This looks to be a decent basic ratchet and socket set, and at reasonable pricing. I bought a 94pc Craftsman set maybe 10-14 years ago for $50. 108pc for $60 is pretty good. You get 6pt sockets, which is good, 72T ratchets, which is also good, and a bunch of misc. tools that might or might not come in handy.

There are plenty of socket set deals this holiday season, some at higher price points, others lower. Spending more will usually get you a couple of wrenches, more socket, or a 1/2″ ratchet and some 1/2″ sockets and accessories. Spend less, and you’ll lose out on some socket sizes or will have to choose between 1/4″ and 3/8″ ratchets and socket sizes.

Do you think this is a good deal at $60?

Fairly certain this is the kit that goes with me to work. It’s a rather decent kit.

Is it possible to have too many socket kits? I’ve often wondered. They’re like tape measures.

I can’t believe people still buy from Amazon given everything we hear about them, from endless worker abuses to environmental damage to working with really unsavory government organizations. Just try shopping elsewhere!

If you are concerned with amazon, Costco has a 173 piece dealt set for $20 more.

Costco’s version doesn’t have the quick release ratchets, but has 12 wrenches, 1/2″ ratchet and 1/2″ sockets.

Well, that was decidedly uncalled for and quite opinionated.

Bought a 156-piece set (Dewalt DWMT72164) in June 2017 (Amazon Father’s Day Sale) for $59.99 (now $139.99) . So this is an OK deal but not exceptional.
