Dewalt 12V Max Battery Pack

Over at Amazon, they’re offloading these Dewalt 12V Max 1.5Ah lithium ion battery packs at just $24.88 each. That’s a pretty good deal considering that these battery packs typically retail for about $45-50 each.

These batteries are being sold at this price directly by Amazon, and not a 3rd party seller, and it is unclear as to how long the sale price will last for.

Maybe this is a sign that Dewalt is planning to finally release 2.0Ah battery packs?

First the Milwaukee Fastback knife and bottle opener, now this! This may be enough to keep me happy with my 12V Max tools a little longer. My 1.3Ah batteries are getting a bit long in the tooth, and I only have 2 1.5Ah batteries that are going on a year old (I got an even better deal on these – I snagged a DeWalt 12V Max screwdriver kit with 2 batteries and a charger at Home Depot last year for $50 after a $50 off $100 coupon).

    Thanks Stuart!

Dammit Stuey you made me spend money AGAIN.

Too good a deal to pass up, and while I only have a few DW 12V tools, I’ve had them for a while, and I’m sure the batteries are getting a tad tired. These are two for the price of one.

I already have 5 batteries, 4 tools and a light. Man oh man, i’m not sure if I should pull the trigger. What is the life expectancy of these batteries?

It’s hard to say, since battery lifetime depends on usage and charging habits. 12V Max Li-ion batteries typically last several hundred charging cycles over a couple of years before performance starts to degrade.

I wonder if this is just a random sale, or if Dewalt is going to release 2.0ah batteries soon. A sale is a hard gauge they could just have had excess inventory and it’s not new product being released. The 12v line has been somewhat neglected while Dewalt ramped up the 20v line.
