Dewalt 18V Cordless Lithium Ion Hammer Drill Kit for $135!!!

Dewalt 18V Lithium Ion Hammer Drill Kit

Over at Amazon, their “Deal of the Day” is this Dewalt 18V cordless lithium ion drill kit for $135!! It’s actually priced at $160, but their current $25 off $100 coupon slashes the price even further. Even if you don’t really need a new hammer drill/driver, consider that the batteries typically cost $55-60 each, making this a hard to deal to pass up if you already use a few Dewalt tools.

I had actually been considering picking up Dewalt’s XRP hammer drill, but it’s quite a bit more expensive, not to mention larger and heavier. I just hope that this deal doesn’t sell out too quickly so that I have more time to think about it.

The price drops from $160 to $135 during checkout.

Edit: Sorry folks, it looks like the deal sold out.

If it was XRP I’d be all over it. It looks as if this one already has the metal transmission and good chuck so perhaps the difference between this and the XRP model is just the batteries.

The XRP version is a little over a pound or so heavier, and features a 3-speed gearbox instead of 2. It also offers a higher max BPM, and looks like it might have a different chuck.

I can’t say how the two versions compare in terms of performance, but I’m convinced that aside from the batteries they’re still two different animals.
