Why You’ll Love the DEWALT 20V MAX* 3×360° Green Line Laser
I went over all of the new laser’s features in my deep-dive post, and you should definitely check out it out here. Following is a recap of the some of the highlights – the reasons why this green line laser is such an upgrade.
Extended Runtime – You get up to 10 hours per 20V MAX* 2.0Ah battery charge, on average, with all 3 laser lines active. This means you can go through an entire work day without changing batteries. And, if you have to swap batteries, it’s easy to do so with minimal disturbance to laser alignment.
20V MAX* and 12V MAX* Compatibility – 20V MAX* batteries will give you extended runtime (up to 8.0Ah), but maybe you prefer 12V MAX* batteries. Multi-voltage compatibility gives you options.
Fine Adjust Knob – This allows for controlled manual adjustment, to quickly and accurately align your vertical beam.
Strong Mounting Options – The strong magnetic array built into the base greatly reduces the chance the laser will slip on ferrous surfaces. You also get a detachable wall mount bracket and two tripod thread options, 1/4″-20 and 5/8″-11.
If all that isn’t enough, the green laser is bright and visible, even at a distance (100′, or 165′ with the DW0892G laser detector), the controls are user-friendly and intuitive, and the kit is bundled with a DEWALT TSTAK storage system compatible tool box.
Winner Selection
(1) winner will be selected at random number generator within one week of the entry period closing date.

The strong magnet is import to be able to get it stuck to different points while using in different environments
Caleb Sears
The rechargeable battery is nice.
Phil c
DEFINITELY THE 20V BATTERY LIFE
King duck
Definitely the fine adjusting I have a Johnson laser level and I hate having to get the line exactly where I need it.
ethan
I am really interested in using the fine adjustment knob since that is my biggest knock on my current laser. I would use it for window install and layout as I am building my new house.
Kipp
Mostly because Dewalt makes great products, overall. I previously used Dewalt 18v tools but switched to another brand for convenience. Still good tools but would love to have reason to switch back to Dewalt and winning the “LASER” and drill/driver combo kit would be a good reason to cross back over.
Bruce Bufford
Cross compatibility with other devices is the most important. If I invest into a battery system, that’s the only one I’d want to use!
Jhonny Rojas
The knob adjustment would be very helpful on my tile installation jobs also the green laser it’s more bright and easy to see on large rooms.
George
Fine adjustment is hugely more convenient than my current laser level. Also the green light is a welcome change. My red laser gets the job done, but greens seem like they might be easier on my aging eyes.
MM
I like two of the features. First is the fine adjustment as others have mentioned. The other is the really big magnet array on the unit. I have an older laser and my biggest gripe with it is the magnetic base is a bit too weak to hold the laser securely. I haven’t gotten a chance to use this one yet but the number and size of the magnets on the base look a lot more serious.
MM
Oh, and cross compatability too! 20V max is the battery system I’m most heavily invested in so that’s a big plus.
PETE
Fine adjustment knob & the 12/20v compatibility. Use it for layout to large membrane structures that have been used for covid testing & vax locations.
Leo B.
I would like being able to use a wide array of batteries, instead of an internal 12v battery or something. I would give this to a friend I work with who runs DeWalt tools, and I think we’d use it for shooting lines for closet fit-outs, fence rails, and other things like that. Thanks for the chance to win, Stuart and DeWalt!
Cristian Bordianu
I definitely would enjoy being able to use the batteries I already have. I also like the green laser vs red.
Tyler
I think the ability to change batteries without disturbing the alignment sounds really nice and would serve well for keeping a good perimeter when running wainscoting or hanging air lines. No fussing around with finding an old Mark.
Boris Ioffe
Fine tune knob adjustment hands down. I have a designated white-pages book that I open with certain amount of pages on to accomplish fine adjustment on my Bosch entry level level. It works fine but people are giving weird looks.
Having power packs instead of AA batteries is added bonus. it can probably last forever in home-shop environment.
GML
Stuart, I do not have a need for this but just wanted to thank you for continuing to do these give-aways along with the website in general.
Daniel
Wow it looks really nice dewalt always making us look real pros
Nic
The fine adjust feature for sure. I use a Bosch laser right now and it is a real pain to try to gently nudge until I get the line about where I want it. The fine adjust feature would allow me to get it precisely where I want the line without any aggravation.
Jack
Like the comments above, the fine adjustment feature!
David Deray
Tiling and cabinet hanging in kitchen. Will work awesome for both
PT
I agree. I am putting in a brother in laws new bathroom, studs out. The green laser will be easy to see over the red cheap-o I currently use, and the 20v system will match my already owned tools! Excited to see this in action personally!
John
The 12v/20v cross compatibility is the biggest draw for me. I’m invested in both Dewalt battery platforms. The fine adjustment knob is really welcome too. I’ll be taking up and re-leveling subfloor in my 100+ yr old house this summer, so this will be a huge help. Thanks for the great review BTW.
Sam Greenfield
Fine adjust would be nice, and easier than having to wrangle a stand!
Pinetar26
The fine adjustment knob would be a game changer! I would use it to set cabinets and windows much faster thank I currently do. Thanks!
Alex
I like the compatibility with both 20V and 12V batteries. Makes it easy to grab whatever’s available.
Marko
The no-name level I have got has a very weak magnet – practically unusable. This one is likely better.
WDBHandyman
The fine adjustment feature is the most important feature to me. I would use this unit for small construction projects around the house and yard.
Matt
For me the benefit would be the green laser (compared to red) as I think the visibility would be better outdoor in semi-shaded areas like porches. I also like the battery compatibility as I have other 12v/20v DeWalt tools and it keeps me in that ecosystem. I’m in two battery platforms now and that’s all I want…no matter how good a tool is, a proprietary battery and/or new platform would be a deal-killer.
Bill C
It’ll be a toss-up between the fine adjustment and the multiple methods of supporting the level; they’re both very useful features for me. The next project that could benefit from a good laser level will likely be a fence project.
Cory G
The fine adjustment is what I’m after. It would make laying out kitchens and lights so much easier than what I am currently using
David N.
That fine tune knob adjustment easily!
David
The mounting options and battery compatibility are appealing. I tend to use my lasers in a variety of ways while doing home improvement, so flexibility lets me be more creative!
Laurie LeBaron
Magnetic function with fine tunning knob is a game changer for me, also green lazer is much easier on the eyes than the red one, I believe.
Thank you for this opportunity to win a awesome addition to my Dewalt collection. A brand you can always rely on. I love everything about Dewalt tools it’s hard to pick out just one feature. You guys rock!!!!
Josh
I’m after the convenient battery package and long runtime, but mostly i’m after having a laser level at all.
blocky
The 3 crosslines is a feature I don’t have in one device. That, combined with the fine adjustment knob would really help laying out complex installation-artworks.
Isaac
The fine adjustment and being able to use a rechargeable battery are the best for me. Too many times someone accidentally touches your laser and you have spend 10 minutes adjusting it. It coming from lunch to find out you left the laser on and it dies not too long after. After which you have to readjust completely because the battery compartment is an a less than convenient place.
Caleb
Fine tune adjustment + visibility in daylight. Trying to get the line exaaaaactly right is almost impossible in an old house where the floors bounce every time somebody moves. Daylight visibility would be great for setting grade for a shed and deck outside.
Josh
Fine adjust knob here as well. Using an older Bosch and can be a pain to get exactly where I want it. Compatibility with both types of batteries I already own is a plus as well!
ben
All of the mounting options seam like they would add a lot of value to my projects. I would love to try this out.
Shawn Walker
The 3 line feature and battery options are great, great tool with many uses around the house/shop.
JD
The most important feature is that if I win, it would be free… and I like free 🙂
Eugene
I really like that it uses the 20v max platform so I don’t have to buy into the 12v max to get a nice laser
Paul
I have several summer projects that I will be using this laser for. The main reason that I like this one is that I can use the cross lines for a plumb bob for installing wafer lights in the kitchen but I also have to level my parents deck and they want to add a pergola. The 360 horizontal is necessary because I have to reference off of something 180 behind the work area.
Dan w
Fine adjustable know is a nice feature. I would use the laser to help with a deck rebuild.
Julian
I’m very happy with my Dewalt line laser currently, but the ability to project a plumb line is what keeps me with my rotary laser when laying out basement walls while accounting for foundation weirdness. If these new Dewalt lasers can also shoot a plumbline, they may be enough to replace my rotary and seperate line laser with one unit.
Steve
The fine adjustment knob would be best, it’s real hard to do that on my current laser level.
chris moore
20v battery compatibility followed by the fine adjustment knob
I’ll use it for trim layout on walls, laying out tall stud walls and lining up flooring
Matt Patrick
The fine adjust is definitely the most useful feature for me, although if won, I’d present it as a gift to my father in law. He would get much more use out of it than I would.
John Chaves
I am interested in using a rechargeable battery with a laser level instead of burning through batteries after batteries.
Mark
This would be a drastic improvement to my current laser level and the mirco adjustment knob will make setup much more quick and easy.
J.Herlocker
Honestly the 360 degree in that compact form is the best feature for me. It’d be nice to set up in the middle of a room and have control lines not blocked without having to pull out the bigger laser and detector.
IJK
the 12/20V mixed compatibility for me. While i have a basic 12V set already, almost all my other tools are 20V, and this would make it much easier to have a battery handy.
Kentucky fan
The magnet for me would do it. I weld by trade and that would be a awesome feature. Also the multi voltage would come in handy
Richard
I will echo the statements around the fine adjustment knob. I cannot stress how useful this would have been on some of my jobs.
Ryan A
The most beneficial feature to me is the ability to use the 20v batteries I already have with the line laser. I would use this laser to help set cabinets and deck posts!
MoogleMan3
Being able to use either the 20v or 12v batteries is a pretty convenient feature.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Frank D
A tripod mount with fine adjustment seems like a must.
Would love to use this for some upcoming remodeling around the house, to figure out low & high spots in the garage, mudroom, etc, then hang paneling, cabinets, lighting.
It is a struggle to be efficient with a simple forward direction only small red crosshair laser, plus the only adjustment is in my travel or old camera tripod … and so something like this is absolutely on my dream list.
Tyler thomas
The fine adjustment and long run time of the batteries are great features!
Ryan Wagenschutz
Fine adjustment and the battery life flexibility, so it isn’t dead every time I loan it out to my old man!
JMG
For me the fine adjustment is king. I am in the middle of a full house renovation, and the new laser would be a most welcome addition to the kit.
TimL
I’m gonna say the battery compatibility is the best feature for me. I have a 360 already and it works great. I also have a 5-dot for plumb. They both work well for their purposes but it’d be nice to not have to worry about (replaceable) battery failure ruining them. They are not top-of-the-line products, but still an investment I don’t want to have to duplicate. I am heavy into Dewalt 20V and compatibility makes it easier. The manual adjustment knob seems to be for tiny angles only, right?
TimL
Nevermind on the manual knob. I re-read the full article.
Brian
Being able to use the batteries I already have is a HUGE plus (lots of yellow and black in the shop 🙂 ). I also prefer a green laser over red.
Tsvirsky
Fine adjustment knob to get it dialed in
PaulL
The best feature will be the fine adjust knob!
BJ
Mounting options and fine adjustment are what my current setup is lacking. This new laser would be a gamechanger!
Frank Pell
Green laser technology for high visibility
Barry Maslen
The multi-voltage of the green line laser will help me ensure that I have a charged battery ready for it.
I’m in the middle of a bathroom remodel and this will help tile the shower in the next month or so!
Jack W.
By far the most valuable feature to me is the 20v battery compatibility. I’m heavily invested in the Dewalt 20v lineup, and I love the ease of having a handful of batteries power all the power tools in my box.
Lyle
I’m really sad that this is limited to Continental US only. I live in Hawaii and we always miss out on stuff like this because of the increased shipping costs (supposedly). Sometimes we can find economical ways to ship stuff but it takes a little effort. Sometimes it is just a perceived increase in shipping costs because USPS is reasonably priced and both FedEx and UPS offer ground shipping options to Hawaii. Oh well, I guess that’s the price for living in paradise.
Andrew
The fine adjust and green laser. I’ve used other ones in the past and in bright light/daylight standard red lasers can sometimes be so hard to see.
Luke
I have no lasers and nothing Dewalt; this would be a great opportunity to get started with both!
Peter
The fine adjustment. And the 20V battery option.
HandyDan
I like the three-axis nature, as well as the green laser. Both are what I am looking for in a laser level.
Jorhay
Daylight visibility and fine adjustment would be really beneficial if lumber prices ever come down enough for me to get around to framing a shed.
scott k
I like that it can be powered by the same battery that powers the tools.
John H
I am interested in using the laser to layout new lights in my work area. The green light and the run life are the most important features
Brian Gainer
I can’t just put it into one becauae this is by far my most used tool without this tool I cannot do my job, so I’ll put my three categories 1 being the most important to 3 being the least but still important!
1. The adjustment knob I think is the most important, with the adjustment knob you don’t have to get your pencil out and keep tapping the laser to fine adjust it.
2. The magnet. we all know how expensive these lasers are, with a strong magnet I can attach it to something metal without any worry of it falling down because once these laser or any laser at that drops it will knock the adjustment out of wack and will never be the same again
3. Run time. I have my laser on all day everyday! With rechargeable batteries you don’t have to carry a 40 pack of AA batteries around with you everyday, let’s be honest lasers eat through batteries like no tomorrow. Rechargeable laser set ups are the way to go and it’s even better that it carries onto both platforms!
Blythe
Compatibility with different batteries is really nice, but most excited for fine adjustment. If you’ve ever tried to line up your laser with 2 points on the floor, the fine adjust is a big deal. Wish they had also put in vertical adjustment too
VJ1776
The ability to mount the laser from multiple locations is most important to me.
Mike F
The fine adjustment knob would be nice. I also like the idea of being able to use the 20V batteries I have for other tools. My current one runs on AA batteries.
Scott F
The level adjustment without interfering with level-set is the most valuable feature to me – along with fine adjustment knob. Both will help keep setup time lower than other options, and save a bit of frustration.
Jeremy Gibbs
Definitely the fine adjustment knob!
Andrew O
The fine adjustment would be great, as well as the ability to recharge rather than have to dump a bunch of aa batteries into it.
Aaron
The most important feature to me is compatibility with a battery system that I am already invested in. Being able to move from tool to tool on a single battery platform (and not have a million different charges plugged in) is a big plus. I would use this to lay out tile in bathroom remodels.
Christian
As others have said, the fine adjustment knobs are certainly the most important feature to me.
Chuck Forster
I’ve been in the market for a laser layout tool. I plan to layout a recreational garage and this would help with the drywall, shelving, and cabinets.
Rigdon
After having struggled with trying to gently tap a laser just right to get it to line up on my marks, a fine adjustment knob is a feature that that will save me time and headaches (oh you bumped my laser? no problem, cause it didn’t take me twenty minutes to get it squared to my marks because it has a fine adjustment knob!). I also love green lines. Green lines are so easy to see!
Benjamin
Was looking at the red one earlier today, would love to use this in my tile layout and setting.
G New
Tri Laser and green would be a good upgrade vs what I use. As for what I would use it for, I would use it to keep things level while I work. My most recent laser usage was striking a line on my stairs while I replaced the carpet runner all the way up.
Zev
Multiple battery compatibility is very slick.
Marco
Fine adjustment knob for sure. As long as I have a 2nd battery charged waiting battery life doesn’t matter. That laser getting locked into the right position is everything.
Lyle Nevin
Definitely the fine adjustment and 20v compatibility.
Jordan
Like others have said the fine adjustment. It is big time saver in my opinion. Also the duel battery choice is a great add on. I will be using it for aligning shelving and other projects.
Kingsley
The fine adjust knob is the best thing about these new models. For setting verticals it can be very fiddly to use the existing ones.
I’d use the laser for setting up right angles, verticals, laying out foundations, laying concrete block walls(rather than a string line) and getting concrete floors level…. loads of things!
Matthew Schulz
I like the feature that it can be powered with 20V or 12v batteries. I would use it to lay out electrical poxes so they are all at the same level.
Big Nick
Agreed with a lot of the comments on here about battery compatibility. Being able to incorporate this into the existing line of tools I have invested in, adds value when looking to add new tools into the mix. Beyond that – the fine adjust knob looks to save quite a bit of hassle! I’m definitely interested!
Michael M
The green laser beam stands out better to the eyes and makes it easier to see when doing work in a long room, which is amazing.
Joatman
This would be great for when I build a detached 25×40 workshop/garage. The fine tuning adjustment would be a huge plus. The 20v compatibility is the icing on the cake.
Ryan
I like the fine adjustment feature. Being able to precisely dial in the line is a big win and would save a lot of frustration.
I am in a laundry/mud room renovation and I am about to install cabinets as well as make wainscoting. This would be super helpful with both of those.
Dave T
Same battery platform that I’m already using.
Alexi
Been really tempted by the Dewalt 12V new tools and would love to get into the ecosystem.
Mr. Creek
I like the 12v 20v duel interchangeable power supply. If doing normal work can easily slap a 20v from your heavy duty drill. But if it’s mounted high and your using the light weight 12v drill for over head work need a line measurement…BOOM! Problem solved.
OR
20V for longer runtime
12V for compact storage for those quick measurements.
Bill
Compatibility with both 12V and 20V batteries and the fine tune adjustment are great features.
Grant
Most interesting feature is the long runtime. Putting an 8.0 ah pack in it and not touching it for a week sounds awesome.
Dan J
Fine adjustment knob x10000. Nothing worse than shifting the laser back and forth 15 times to try and adjust it a hair
Jason Snyder
I like that they turned the battery to the side this will allow easier removal and install of the battery. They also kept control of the power housing with the battery as well.
Brandon E
I really like the fine adjustment knob. I have a laser without the know now and it is a pain to get exactly where I want it. I would use the laser to help redo all of the rooms in my house.
The 12v tools are an awesome bonus. I bought the 12v screwdriver from your recommendation and use it for everything.
belikemike
I like the battery options. This combined with the battery location make this a game changer. I also would love to see the difference provided by the green laser
vs my current red version.
Dan Boyd
The feature that matters most to me is making square things square. I’m building a deck and could really use this!
Nicholas Thompson
Really like what Dewalt is doing with12v/20v capabilities. Along with their flexvolt. Great stuff, along with slide pack 12v making the barrel grip normal sized, while maintaining a 12v small profile and base of the tool flat, especially in the lazers case, set it down and it’s flat. Adjustment Lazer level is also really well thought out.
Avi
For me it’s being in the battery ecosystem, especially the voltage compatibility.
Gordon
I have a red laser and I really wish I had spent more for a green laser. But my favorite part of the DeWalt is the micro adjust knob. The different mounting options are nice, but I think a tripod is still one of the best ways to mount a laser.
I’d use the laser all the time. It’s amazing how much more useful it is than a level. I have a ton of trim that needs to be straightened out. I also have a few windows to install. Pretty important to make sure those are all co-planar.
Scott
I’m most interested in the 12v and 20v compatibility along with the fine adjustment.
salcolon
This is awesome. I’m really liking the fine adjust knob. The fact that it takes multiple platform batteries is just icing on the cake. Leave it to Dewalt to lead the way in innovation. Can’t wait to get my hands on this.
Zackary Yasonia
The battery life is the most important feature. Knowing that the device will accomplish a long life on a small battery is very reassuring. Secondly, the adjustment laser is useful for people working in all lighting conditions.
Matthew
If use that fine adjustment knob for making all the art around my house super level.
Jordan
Fine adjustment. I have an expensive Bosch and have to adjust my tripod or mount via trial and error is a pain. Fine adjustment built in is what I need.
Ivan
For me, the decisive thing will be:
Wall mount + magnet – cherry on top. Excellent autonomy 20V MAX + DEWALT TSTAK compatibility.
The fine tuning knob must be tried out …
The purchase of a new laser level in this case would be for general construction works.
Jake
This is very simple, but the easily visible green lines are what is most appealing. All the other features don’t matter if you can’t see what you’re trying to do.
Matthew
The fine adjustment and the dual voltage are equally important to me. It makes things easier when you don’t have to carry multiple battery types to do a job.
Mark
Compatibility with the batteries I have would be the biggest feature I’m interested in.
OldDominionDIYer
The most important feature would be the micro/fine adjustment feature and that bright green laser! Not to mention that handy carry case!
John Blair
The most import features for me are the ability to use the batteries I already have and the visibility of the green laser. I’ve used red laser products before and my eyes just aren’t as good as they used to be.
Tommy Lee
The magnet would be great, but using my current batteries will be the selling point for me.
Fm2176
I like the multi-voltage battery capability. As a long-time DeWalt Max system user, I have a lot of batteries in both 12v and 20v, but the former system sees relatively little use. Having the ability to get some use out of my 10-year-old 12 Max batteries while still being able to use a higher Ah 20v Max for certain jobs means a lot.
As for what I’d use the laser for, the first project would be installing cabinets in the in-law’s former house. Since they passed, my wife and I have been getting it ready to sell, but progress has been slow to say the least.
Tom P
The fine adjustment dial would be a game changer for me. I have a Craftsman laser level which is a tricky hateful thing. It makes an ear piercing beep every time anyone even walks near it. Being able to make fine adjustments without setting off an alarm would be great!
K33G5
Definitely being able to use my existing batteries! It’s why I’m in the ecosystem to begin with!
Alex L
Fine tune knob adjustment and the magnetic wall mounting plate. Also a fan of the multiplatform battery, since it’s much easier to swap out a battery pack than track down AAAs in other devices.
Albert D
The fact that I can power this thing with either a 12v or 20v battery is awesome! That means I can blindly grab a battery and keep it moving. The obvious plus of not dealing with AA batteries is also amazing. Can’t wait to hopefully win this thing and put it to good use =]
Dima
Definitely the fine adjust knob and battery compatibility. Being able to use exciting batteries makes it so much easier for those that are just starting out.
Ben Davis
From moldings to crown—this laser would tirelessly bring set the level.
Q: Is it possible to offer different color lenses? Maybe they could snap-on and change the laser color? Colorblindness leads to funny mistakes and/or costly ones.
Keep it sunny,
Ben
Petejam
For the fine adjustments and green lazer
Franci Al
All three features are important, but, the level adjustment without interfering with level-set is the most important feature to me also including fine adjustment knob. I am in a process of renovation of the bathrooms and it’ll be a very good tool to use it for different applications.
schill
I’m already using both of these Dewalt battery platforms so that is convenient. I really like the 12v Max driver (1/4 drive) so the other two would be a welcome addition.
Ed N.
For me the best new feature is a toss up between the fine adjustment and the 20V battery compatibility. I had the previous version (which recently died!), and it was the only DeWalt tool in my inventory that took the 12V batteries. I also remember adjusting the beam the last few mm and overshooting back and forth across my mark.
Tristan
Definitely the 20V MAX battery compatibility. Already have several 20V tools.
Mike
I’d definitely appreciate the fine adjustment knob the most.
12v and 20v compatibility is a nice bonus
Its_Jake
I just bought a house and there will be lots of stuff to hang/shelves to make, etc. my current skil laser level is, in fact, a laser level, but its a pain to clamp on things and fine adjust is not a word in it’s vocabulary. Mostly I just want a good excuse to enter yet another battery ecosystem so I can agonize over what if any tools to buy for it!
Aaron SD
I think the fine adjustment knob is best. If I had both batteries then also the multi battery option.
Hoping to use to level the backyard for some projects
Greg
The time I spent on my last project edging my current laser side to side over the required mark – it has to be the fine adjust
William Butler
Definitely looking forward to the fine adjustment knob. This will be a great addition for setting cabinets.
Eugenio
I might be starting a decent sized drywall project in a new office for my wife. I was looking at getting one of these laser levels and Dewalt happened to come out with these.
Seeing as I have 13 20V and 2 60V Dewalt tools (plus miter & table saw, planner, and their biggest Shop Vac) this level would be a good fit for me. Using the same batteries as the rest of my tools is a big plus.
John Dunn
I like the multiple mounting options.
Jonathan Heister
The fine adjustment knob for sure
Bill S
The fine adjustment and green laser appeal to me. Also the rechargeable battery would be a huge plus.
Abner Diaz
I think having it work with both the 12v and 20v line is awesome. That way i can use whichever battery i have charged and on hand
Trocar
The dual power voltages is very important, I frequently have run down the 2 12v batteries I have but I have a surplus of the 20v batteries.
Kyle
The long runtime and the ability to do fine adjustments would be a big help onsite.
Evan Chartier
Probably sounds lame but as a new builder I don’t have the funds for a lazer level so my favorite feature would be the fact that it can do so much more than my 4 foot level! I just started my first paid home renovation and the level would be super helpful for getting things all lined up.
A W
Compared to my current Bosch, I think the visibility of the bright green laser will be most appreciated, asking with the fine adjustment knob.
John S
Best sounding feature by far is the fine adjustment knob. Don’t even want to know how long I’ve spent fiddling with my old red laser. 2nd place goes to a strong green beam. I’ve certainly spent too long looking for it in larger rooms.
Jim Felt
I really like user level calibration dual.
Big improvement over my existing Bosch Green line. Let alone my older Red line.
And I’ve always had a soft spot for the DeWalt driver assembly lines in the US.
cafo
I like the green laser
Noah
I’ll use this for an upcoming kitchen remodel! Interested in not eating through AA batteries.
Jburd
Will use for tile layout on bathroom remodel. Currently don’t have laser layout, but do have all dewalt tools.
Seth
The company I work for has a twelve volt one I’ve been using quite a bit. It’s come in handy on curved walls, and utility chases that go up multiple floors. I haven’t bought one because I don’t have any of the twelve volt line and it looks like there are more affordable options if I’m going to ha e to buy batteries. But 20v with a fine adjustment knob is something I would spring for in the future. If a dewalt tool doesn’t have the features you want, just wait they will come
Out with it.
Andrew
The fine adjustment knob is the best feature. I like the multi voltage too. The cross hairs on the floor and ceiling would really help for doing lighting layouts.
Wayne
Multiple mounting options is by far the most important.
Scott
Fine adjustment and the 20V Max compatibility would be the biggies for me. Adjustment on my current laser consists of turning the whole unit for left/right, and raising the tripod for up/down, neither of which is easy to do accurately. 20V Max is great because I’m already invested in the system!
Scott K
I would love this because of the fine adjustment knob and 360° line. This would be a major upgrade from my Bosch cross line which works well, but the need to get it set exactly where I want it can take numerous attempts. I am loving my DeWalt 20v circ saw and I’d love to try out these 12v tools. Awesome giveaway!
MattW.
Easy to use and see the lazer even outside along with reasonable price is what i look for.
AngryDrumGuy
The cordless battery option and the green laser would be a welcome improvement over my current red line which eats AA’s and doesn’t provide 360 coverage.
I would surely learn to appreciate the fine adjustment, particularly for things like doors, windows and other finish work. Those 12v tools also look great for installation work and the handles are much more comfortable than the M12.
Matt the Hoople
For me it’s the green laser which should make it easier to see for outdoor projects where I would use this for installing gutters, construction of outbuildings, installing concrete and other exterior jobs. The dual voltage is great and something that should be on more tools and especially work lights and radios.
Tom Holton
The fine adjustment is super handy. Saves you from constantly moving the tripod/mount particularly when doing fine accuracy items. I like shooting a line around a kitchen to mark all the cabinet hardware locations. Takes away the vertical measurement.
DXE
After using my friends earlier desalt green laser model I am curious about any improvements in the fine adjustment category. It was amazing how little Movement it would take to knock the laser out of alignment.
bigiron
Nice. Green laser, magnet, *and* fine adjustment. Works for me.
Eric Sampson
I think the best features are the fine adjust and the bright green laser.
Mike McFalls
fine adjust knob is a standout feature in my opinion.
I have an upcoming kitchen tile job, ~300 sq feet of 12 x 12 tile.
I also have a bathroom remodel in mind.
EC
Love the 12v and 20v compatibility!
Need some repairs in neighborhood and this would keep us straight.
Will C
The fact that I wouldn’t have to worry about picking up AA batteries anymore is huge!
Matt
The extexted battery and compatibility would give me one less thing to worry about. Laying out walls and ceilings in hospitals and offices.
Steven Gifter
Find adjustment knob would be great. Definitely would be a big help with some builtins we have coming up.
Rob
The fine adjust and multi-voltage compatibility are both fantastic.
Jon
Cross compatibility of batteries and longer runtime.
JaJustSr
I need the 12v/20v cross compatibility, it is the biggest attraction for me. I have both Dewalt battery platforms, though I want the longer run-time. The fine adjustment knob is really awesome too.
Craig
That fine adjustment knob would be a huge time saver – having to move the entire laser assembly can be a hassle and often requires multiple attempts to get the line exactly where I want it.
Although the ability to use 20V batteries is also a huge plus. My existing DeWalt red laser uses AA batteries which can be a hassle to install/remove and certainly don’t last anywhere near as long.
Brad Phillips
Definitely the fine adjust knob. Nothing worse than trying to get a straight line on a bad laser level.
Scott M
The 12/20V battery compatibility is the best feature for sure!
Looking to lay some tile in bathrooms and this would be a big help!
Will L
Long battery life and micro-adjust makes this a real winner.
Eric H
Visibility and compatibility with a battery system I currently have is key for me when it comes to laser levels.
mattd
I like the fine adjust, it will make it way easier to dial the line in where needed. I have a kitchen remodel coming up and would love this tool for setting the lines for the cabinets.
Tom D
It’d be my only Dewalt tool so it’d be a chance to experiment not only with leveling – which I have a decent number of things to hang, etc, but also see how Dewalt hangs compared to my current equipment.
Mosh
Runtime!
Definitely better than the Bosch that I bought on sale a few months back, or the aa powered that I used to borrow from a friend.. (Don’t really use lasers much but might start if I win and like the runtime)
Mosh
And most important
Thanks! For the giveaway..
Mark Pyhala
The ability to quickly square up lines and also use both 12v max and 20v max batteries.
Garrett
Fine adjust for sure!
JM
I have cataracts and the green lasers are much more visible to me and the battery compatibility with my existing DeWalt tool is a big plus.
Tim Elliott
Love the power packs… lots of use time and rechargeable.
Sam
Fine adjustment makes lining up on a mark across a room SO much easier.
Minnesota Chris
Very accurate lasers are imperative in our business of installing custom cabinets. The fine adjustment knob will be a huge asset and the multi volt battery options will help as we use both dewalt 20 volt and 12 volt on our installs
Alex P
I do a lot of layout work in very bright rooms, so I love the idea of green lines and the fine adjustability
Dermot76
Has to be the adjustment knob for me also. I missed that when I went from the dw089k to the lg model.
Mike
I’d definitely appreciate the fine adjustment knob the most.
12v and 20v compatibility is a nice bonus
Robb
Define adjustment is what interests me most. The fact that I am already invested in the Dewalt 20 volt ecosystem is a bonus.
Iron-iceberg
I like the fine adjustment. When you get far away from the the laser it gets hard to make fine adjustments, and that will sure help
I would use it to level cabinets and center lines on projects.
Thanks Stu for this contest.
John
I think using 20v batteries makes sense because dewalt’s 12v line isn’t very developed.
clayton
The fine adjustment knob is what most interests me. I burrowed a Bosch from a friend of mine for a tile job and it could be tedious to get it exactly where you want it. while its not the end of the world it would be nice
James
I would have to say the fine adjustment knob
DML
I’m just sick and tired of dealing with cheap laser levels that are a pain to set up and have dubious accuracy. The DeWalt 3×360 model looks like it would be a pleasure to use and the fact that it runs on the 20V batteries I use for the rest of my DeWalt tools is an awesome bonus!
Ryan
The fact that it works with the 20v batteries that I already have is a big selling point for me with the new green line laser.
Ken Hom
The best feature of this specific laser is the dual power source options. I don’t hsve to worry about having charged dedicated battery to run it. I can just pull one off either system that us with me at the time I need it. Plus the lower weight of the 12v batteries never hurts an old guy like me 😁 thanks
Michael
Dual system compatibility is a very useful feature to have!
Rob Ifflander
For me the green laser is important for visibility. The fine adjustment feature is super convenient as well.
Mac
Would replace my cheap lasers, and the fine adjust is something every laser should have. Mine do not. I’m sure many here can relate to the ‘little further, little further, TOO FAR!’ scenarios. Real time waster when something needs to be precise.
Ramon Vizcarra
Well said, it’s worst part of setting up a laser. So close then boom totally off.
Scott Richardson
Being able to position the laser in the middle of a room and shoot 360 degrees around would be a huge time saver over repositioning it for each wall!
Dean
Used several “cheap” laser levels in the past with nothing but frustration. Haven’t dove into the higher end ones mainly due to cost. The whole package would be amazing help with all the odd jobs I’m doing at my mothers house since covid hit. Out of work but always working on something.
Buckman01213
The 20v/12v compatibility is great because I have both. Flexible mounting options are also great for different situations
Ramon Vizcarra
360 + Dewalt battery compatibility + green laser line + fine adjustment.
It’s definitely going to be a knockout. Been waiting for ever to use this laser!
Ben
The fine adjust is a killer feature, especially when mounted with magnets. Extra true with strong magnets. I usually use lasers with the magnet base, and it’s pretty tough to make small adjustments – either the steel has opinions, or the smallest corrective bump that’ll break friction is waaay too much movement.
Jake
I think the dual power source and moving the power off the laser body are brilliant additions. Thanks for the write up!
Sunny leveson jones
Saving time versus hand measuring
Alex
The mounting options. I’ve had lasers in the past that while the units themselves worked great, it ended up being for naught as I had no way to hold it in the position that I needed it in!
That fine tune adjustment knob though… 😀
deb0ro
For me adjusting knob and the magnet are the selling points and combined with green laser! Shut up and take my money! 😀
BradWH
Versatility of mounting options is always king in my book, but having a fine adjust means you can compensate for any awkward difficulties you might have in setting it up. Honestly, while I tend to help many a friend do house reno-type projects, I would love to live in excess and use this to set up composite layup work and keep things straight on robotics projects!
Sam
After a recent attempt to get my very basic Bosch laser level set just right, the fine adjustment feature is tops for me.
Joel5635
The fine adjust knob is definitely the most important new feature for me, but the multiple voltage battery compatibility is also very beneficial. Very exciting tool. Thanks for the giveaway, Stuart.
Philippe Preville
Compatibility with the 20VMax platform and fine adjustment are huge benefits
Chris
The fine adjust is awesome and I love all the mounting options. I’d use it on all types of renovations in my house from counteracts and windows and if I had it in time it’d probably be nice to level my pool area before setup.
GAC
So many applications ahead. This would be a major upgrade.
Etienne
More visible laser would be the first feature I like. Mounting options second. Could see multiple uses for it over an older, slowing dying Bosch unit.
Brien
Like most of the comments, the fine adjustment feature really grabbed my attention. So frustrating trying to get the laser just right. I know you didn’t ask for a second likable feature but using a 20V or 12V battery over a bunch of AAs or Ds is so convenient. I would use this for layout, framing, hanging doors, hanging cabinets, tile, flooring… so much fun stuff! I might even put one on a shark!
Marty
Be great to have another 20v tool, especially the laser. No more AA batteries
Justin Gifford
The ability to swap a battery quickly and actually being able to see the green line is important for me. Get tired of replacing the AA batteries in my laser right now.
Will
The fine adjustment knob is definitely the part that looks the most appealing. Whenever I’ve used laser levels, a good fine adjustment has been the most frustrating part to get right.
Alois
The fine adjustment knob will be so useful for getting the perfect layout
Juxtapose
I use DeWalt’s 12v batteries as well as their 20v, so having cross-voltage is great. And I like that it’s a 360 laser instead of just a cross.
John
Definitely the fine adjustment knob/ability. Being able to quickly get a line exactly where I need it is very important.
Adrian
I look forward to the fine adjustment feature as well as the laser that works compared to the one that’s been dead in my junk drawer for the last year and a half.
James Vis
The fine adjustment will be very handy as well as the ability to use different battery systems.
Dan
I really like the interface with battery systems I am using while giving long run time and plenty of available batteries in my arsenal.
Lucky Shadow
We have a home remodel scheduled for this year and having a 360 laser would allow me to setup the line once and use it around the entire room.
AlexV
the fine adjustment function for sure, that’s in my opinion what sets it apart from the competition.
AttachMount
The threaded 1/4-20 hole is important to me as it would accept a threaded magnet, allowing to adhere the laser to a steel beam for ease of leveling and aligning during installation. Thanks Dewalt and Toolguyd.
Shannon
The run time would be the biggest plus to me as this would be my first tool on those battery lines if I were to win. Limited to just the battery it came with, enough run time to last all day would do the trick.
Kevin
When doing layout for piping in the food plants we service, having the fine adjustment knob would save a lot of time, when it has to be perfect!
Kevin
Also, the ability to use 20v Max batteries is a game changer, because we don’t run much 12v (being in the industrial trades) and so to have more compatibility is huge.
Cr8on
I use a Johnson manual 360 laser, looks like EVERYTHING about this DeWalt is an advantage over what I use! I really like the fact it runs off either the 12 or 20v batteries.
Shawn s
The fine adjustment would be very useful for cabinet installations. Love the 12v power runtime.
kevin lebel
compatability is a huge plus and the upcoming remodel would put this to good use.
BW
20v battery and mount options look great, would be used for general home improvement projects,
Tool Junkie
I would appreciate the fine adjustment knob. I have the 360* version; however, it’s tedious to make fine adjustments.
Lawson
The fine adjust first and foremost and then the run time.
Liam Waters
most important feature: it’s bright and it can run all day/week
Eric D
Not being trustworthy of automatic leveling, I’d appreciate the fine adjust knob to perfect the line.
BuildingMech
Fine adjust knob is a useful feature.
Andrew H
20 V battery compatibility. I have one from another manufacturer that I never use because changing the batteries is a pain.
Bruce
Great for the volunteer projects we work on upgrading parks in the older sections of town to show kids that they are important. The brightness and distance would be great.
Nicholas Flint
I definitely love the fact that you can use multiple voltages now. That’s a cool feature. I love the green lasers. I can’t stand red laser lines they’re too hard to see!!! I would use this for tile layout for sure.
dsal
I think the fine adjustment feature would be most useful. I’d use this for hanging cabinets.
Andy
The fact that it runs on my existing batteries and has the fine tuning adjustment is enough for me to want it. Swapping aa batteries several times a week gets annoying and expensive.
Scott K
Man oh man there are few features I really like about the Dewalt 20V Max 3×360 green laser. The fine adjustment would be my number thing I like.
MollyG
Being able to use the level for marking and measuring consistently along the X,Y,Z plane will be a huge benefit to me. Great product!
James
I would love the runtime of the 20v battery verses the lower runtime of the 12v.
Sean
It would be a great addition to my DeWalt tools.
I’d use it for a lot of projects.
I like that it has the fine adjustment capability.
Joshua
I would really enjoy the cross compatibility being I already have several batteries. The other laser levels I’ve used in the past burn up 4 AA batteries so quickly. The green line being easier to see then red as well.
Dave the tool
The long runtime and the ability to do fine adjustments is awesome and dual battery capable is great thinking by Dewalt. Need this!
Clay
The strong mounting options are the feature I am most looking forward to, though using both 12v and 20v is awesome too.
TonyT
The most useful features for me would be the strong green laser (my current laser’s red line basically disappears outside) and the fine adjust (another feature lacking in my current laser).
It would be helpful for tasks like putting up pictures, but I think it could also help on some more advanced projects I’ve been thinking about, like custom bunk beds, to get everything straight and level.
Whit
I have several of the Dewalt 20 volt tools so battery compatibility is very important. Of course I use dewalt tools because they are reliable and durable. The level will come in handy when I finish my basement in the near future.
Keith
Easily the most useful is the fine adjustment knob. Having to make small, fine adjustments on a knob as opposed to moving the entire Lazer is a huge plus.
Galyn
The green laser increases visibility
Ed
Fine adjustment and multiple mounting options are very much appreciated where the laser level is concerned as many have said, but I’m equally excited about the compact drill/driver combo. Great add-on idea.
Gary Greene
Visibility in daylight and the ability to fine-tune are very important to me. I have a couple lasers that are marginal, at best, outdoors.
Nathan
For me it would the fine adjustment. I like using line levels for any interior trim work, from hang doors to chair rail to hanging sheet goods on a wall or ceiling.
RD
Probably the cross-voltage compatibility for me, I’m always a huge fan of when companies make tools like this in this way. I’m only on the 20v system, so this opens up tools like this to me too without having to buy into a new system!
RD
Probably the cross-voltage compatibility for me, I’m always a huge fan of when companies make tools like this in this way. I’m only on the 20v system, so this opens up tools like this to me too without having to buy into a new system!
JonnyRock
20V MAX compatibility here. As someone with roughly a dozen 20V MAX tools, this would fit perfectly for me now and could be a gateway to 12V in the future.
Peter H.
I like that it has a strong magnet to make positioning it easier. I would use it for hanging shelves, pictures and the cabinets my wife wants me to for starters.
James Ouzts
I often install wall hangings and custom signage in and on buildings and homes. The laser level I use now works but is frustrating to set up. The adjustment knob could be a a real time saver. And the green laser would be much more visible on the outdoor jobs.
I bought the earlier version of the DeWalt 12v drill and I still use it all the time. Even after getting a 20v I still really like the 12v.
AM_Morning
I have a old school red laser, would really like a green laser.
AM_Morning
Best feature would be the long runtime
Robbie Stanford
The vertical line adjustment will save me time and frustration.
Brad C
Fine adjustment and 12v/20v compatibility look awesome as I already use both.
Would use this for future wainscoting projects!
Dom K
I love the 360 degree plain laser especially in green. I would use it to help determine high/low spots on concrete floors before pouring self-leveling cement.
Chris
Multi axis lasers would be so handy, it would be nice to upgrade from a cheap single axis laser level!
Jbongo
I’m not sure that I would use the level, so I won’t enter this time. (I have a red one that I’ve only use once). However, I did want to say thanks for having another giveaway!
Steve P
I like the idea of the green laser technology for high visibility, as I would be using it to build a pole barn and shed.
Alex
My most important features is that it’s self leveling and 360 degrees. The accuracy is also 😍 and it’s Dewalt!!! What’s not to love!
Adabhael
I think for my uses (projects and renovations at my house and friends and relatives) the fine adjusting knob is very appealing: I feel like I am always fiddling with my basic Bosch cross-line, or else measuring offsets from a plumb line to whatever we are actually doing.
Gavin
Strength of magnet for a secure attachment, as well as fine adjustment are both key features that make this stand out.
Bill
The fine adjustment is huge and multivolt is nice. Multivolt opens the door to using either battery and not needing to invest in a battery platform that I currently do not have.
Craig
The fine adjust know and long battery life. My bosch laser eats batteries for breakfast lunch and dinner. Tile and hanging cabinets
Kent Skinner
Lots of good features on the laser, but it would be useless to me without the tripod mount.
Noodles
As an older woman, I find the need to lighten my carry load these days. The 20V MAX battery provides just the right amount of longer runtime that I need, which means I don’t have to carry an extra battery with me. Just that much difference can dictate whether I return from a long day with an aching back or not. Thank you Dewalt!
Mike
The best thing about this laser is that works on regular dewalt batteries. I own AA dewalt laser and i dont know how many times in middle of an install it goes dead and me to the gas station. Plus the green line is a big plus and those extreme drills look super sweet.
Kevin Denny
I think the coolest feature of this has to be the dual-voltage, as the 20V and 12V platforms are predominately what I use. Being able to run on one battery or the other helps maximize what I already own. Ive got a shower tiling project at home Ive been putting off but this would be a great thing to kick me into gear and get it done.
HiggiML
Awesome Give-Away! #1 feature for me is the 3 plane green laser. Not a few level dots or lines but 3x 360° planes! #2 feature would be the Fine-Adjust Knob. I’d use it for all sorts of things — Installing windows, hanging pictures/shelves, installing chair rail & stair rail, framing square walls in basements whose foundations aren’t too square. And, with a laser detector, I’d hope to install siding. The list goes on.
Rob
The ability to fine adjust AND use my regular 20v packs makes this perfect for me. A laser doesn’t replace a level, but it can certainly make a job easier and more exact.
Thanks for another giveaway Stu!
Jason S
Able to use either the 20v or 12v batteries is Great
No no
the 12/20V mixed compatibility for me. While i have a basic 12V set already, almost all my other tools are 20V, this would allow me to extend the usefulness of my 12v batteries! Be green re-use!
Skyy
I’d like to use this laser to align various equipment on boats. I can’t use a level, but I CAN use a laser!
Steve
The 10 hour run time is what I’m looking forward too. No more batteries dieing half way thru the day.
James
The effective distance of the laser would be the most useful feature to me. We do lots of work in large open warehouses where the effective distance of our tools come into play.
Mitch
Fine adjustment knob would be very helpful for lining up recessed lights that I will be installing
MichaelHammer
If I have to chose only one, I would say that the fine adjust knob would be a welcome improvement over my current DeWalt laser. I have not used a green laser, but if it is as advertised, that is a close second.
Samuel
The fine adjustment knob is the single biggest feature I’m digging here. Getting those precise adjustments has always been a challenge with the laser levels I’ve used. Small movements translate into huge changes at the end of the room, and the fine adjustment knob seems to be a game changer for this. I’d like to get hands-on with one; your review made it seem like it was well-designed and implemented.
The multi-voltage compatibility is also nice in these types of tools.
Tony V
I’ve been thinking about buying a laser level for some time now. The versatility with battery options (12v and 20v), the multiple mounting options, and the DeWalt yellow housing (I’ve got quite a bit of the black and yellow in my garage) are the most appealing to me.
Nelu Rotar
Fine adjusting know is a huge plus, 20v is my top reason I would get this since I have a 20/60v Dewalt set already. I use my laser levels mostly for cabinet installation.
Chris Shelton
This is a must for installing cabinets in the kitchen.
Javier M.
the fine tuning knob is probably the most important feature for me, I can’t count how many times I struggled adjusting the laser! followed closely by battery compatibility with my current 12v max and 20v max tools
Garry A.
I am planning to help my daughter and son-in-law install a driveway on their newly acquired home. The strength of the beam (up to 100 feet according to DeWalt – further with their detector) is the feature that matters most to me. Already deep into the DeWalt platform so the multi-voltage compatibility is a close second.
Marc Higgins
I really like the fine adjust knob. It really makes it easy to manually align your vertical beam.
ccg
Fine adjust knob would be super handy.
Barry Albert
Going to be building a deck this summer and the green laser would be great for that task.
Battery powered looks like it will be really slick.
RDS
Fine adjustment knob looks super useful. As does the 20v battery compatibility. Currently using a laser without these features for a drop ceiling installation.
Randy S
Most important to me is multi-voltage capability and the high visibility of a green laser vs red. Using battery packs I already use daily as opposed to C or D cells is nice too.
Dillon Corr
12/20 is the most interesting part to me. We have 20/60 tools all over my job site but an entire “fleet” of 12v batteries specifically for our lasers. It would be great to stop stocking two lines without having to toss all the existing batteries right off the bat.
Joe W.
To me, the best features are the fine adjust knob and the fact that the controls are not on the body of the laser mechanism. This is what sets this apart as a pro tool vs a cheap DIYer tool, IMO.
Nate
Fine tuning knob is definitely what I’d like to have. Mostly using it for kitchen cabinets and maybe my backsplash
Tom M
For me the 20V compatibility is huge. I have been using a Dewalt green line laser for years, but I don’t have any other 12V tools, which means I’ve had to keep a separate battery charged just for the laser. They work great, and this makes it much easier to manage.
Kirk
The fine adjust is a great feature. Multi voltage 12v and 20v / 60v is cool for those with limited batteries. I have more than a dozen 20v batteries and a handful of flexvolt and just picked up the new 12v ¹/2″ impact wrench from Lowe’s but no luck on the free 5ah with $99 12v ³/8 impact wrench kit, Lowe’s is being shady af and won’t honor the sale even though batteries are in stock. I have the Bosch tripod laser setup is nice but these look awesome!
Argie
This would be great for my upcoming remodels! I’ve always gone cheap with my lasers which is probably why I buy a new one every couple years.
Argie
I forgot to mention features – Multi voltage compatibility is definitely my favorite.
Will
The fine adjust is most important to me, I had a cheap that was such a pain to get just right.
Eric
The most important feature for me is the fine adjustment knob. Laying out high hats on a ceiling is tedious when trying to lineup two points that are 25+ feet away from each other in order to keep the lights in line with each other from end to end in a long room.
Cristobal Figueroa
The fine adjustment knob sounds like a great feature.
Brandon
The biggest thing for me is the ability to use either 12 or 20 volt batteries so I don’t have to go around trying to find AA batteries.
Ryan
The fine adjustment knob is definitely the most important feature for me. Anything that aid in being more precise will always help with the finish product. Both battery platforms along with extended run time will also be very helpful as you won’t have much downtime changing out batteries
David Burberry
The fine adjustment is what I would find most useful over my existing laser. I use my laser for tile and plumbing installation.
Henry
The green vs. red laser. I currently have an older, midrange laser, but it’s red, and is nearly invisible in anything but dark environments. My laser is getting up there in age. Bought it used, from a contractor that upgraded to a new one.
Tony
I like the compatibility with different batteries and the mounting options. I’ve had lasers that use AA batteries and were terrible to mount.
Cooper Shields
The compatibility with my existing 20v Dewalt batteries!
Bruce Richardson
I like the fine adjustment feature plus the ability to use the batteries that I already have. I’d use it for finishing out my shop and putting up plywood on the walls, cabinets and shelving (if lumber prices ever come down!).
Marc
Fine tune adjustment knob- I’m an electrician and we recently partnered with a fire alarm company. We are so busy doing the conduit installs. Currently I’m working on a 12 story parking garage. Our pipes need to be straight. The bright green laser would be much more visible but more importantly we have to work quickly and efficiently and your fine adjustment knob is the ticket 🎫. The golden ticket. Wow you hit a home run.
Dominic L
Fine level adjustment, definitely.
Pink porkchop
chargeable battery. I have the dewalt that takes AA’s and while I like it and use it a lot, it gets expensive.
Jon Hamilton
Good features across the board, but the cross compatibility is a big one. Shows Dewalts commitment to the 12v line and that’s always a plus when investing in tools. Knowing I can grab a charged up 20v or 12v battery is huge when on a jobsite away from the shop. Good on Dewalt for that.
kumar umrao
K.U Never work with a DEWALT laser. Love to try it out if luck strike.
Judge
Battery compatibility with the 20v line is huge, but having three 360 projection lines is a big deal. I only have a cross line laser now, so it would be great to have your lines go around the room without having to setup the tripod again.
Also for all the AA battery users, buy some rechargeable batteries and keep and extra set in your case, cuts down on waste.
Nathan S
Fine adjust knob +1, as well as the high visibility, would be very useful in building a new utility outbuilding (as soon as lumber prices dip a bit more!).
Thanks, Stuart for making this such a reader-centric website!
Tom VK
Extended run time and the 12/20v compatibility. Will use to scare birds out of my blueberry field during harvest. Own one already that is an older model. Would love another.
sean
I think the fine adjustment idea is a really good one. I’ll have to check these out
John
Fine adjustment is what I’d look forward to the most. It has always been the biggest hassle to using my current DeWalt red laser level.
Larry K
The fine adjustment feature is a huge plus. I could never understand why other major laser brands never provided this feature for both horizontal & vertical, forcing me to find other after market products for use on laser tripods but made for large camera set ups. Expensive and time consuming.
But battery versatility and interchangeability is also a good step. Hopefully DeWalt will do this for their other power tools in the future, especially for tradesmen struggling to get by today.
David Sterling
I would be excited about the fine tuning knob and the battery packs for long lasting cordless power.
Andy J
I’m in the middle of a siding project going around some bumpouts on my house, and the laser level would help keep everything straight. It’s a pain!
Jarad
The 20v max battery as I am constantly changing out AA’s on my current dewalt red laser.
Christopher Honan
The cross-compatibility with my other tools is great, but it’s the distance of the laser that would really save time, VS a lot of constant moving down the line and then readjusting with cheaper lasers with less power.
Christopher Fleming
Definitely like the mounting options
Larry K
There is a good 360° swivel mount I found on Stabila.com. But if you Google the same mount you can get it from an MSC or something for $23+ S&H. Stabila wants $34
Larry K
There are other laser base leveling mounts on eBay
Larry K
Here’s a nice vertical laser adjustment accessory I found on Amazon. It allows vertical & 360° adjustments without having to fool with adjusting the laser tripod legs in some difficult job settings. I love it for fine horizontal adjustments. It has a 5/8 base thread & 1/4 top thread for mounting smaller hand size lasers.

Here’s the Stabila 360° laser tripod mount from MSC Direct. $23 instead of the $34 Stabila.com asks for. It’s great & feels like it has ball bearing seating. Very smooth.

This laser level is not only a versatile and good laser, but having a run time of a regular work day makes it extremely helpful. I don’t have to be concerned with draining disposable batteries, I don’t have to be concerned with turning it off to save the battery, and I don’t have to be worried about having spare batteries because I have a bag of spares (as we have all DeWalt tools on site). And not having to turn it off/on regular, this reduces the chance of adjusting the level and having to recalibrate.
Danny p
To me the most important new feature is the fine adjustment for the vertical. It’s a pain on the 12v series to get that perfectly lined up. And the fact is the 20volt platform is awesome, I have a surplus of 2 amp 20v battier that don’t see much use. Would be an awesome tool to add to the Arsenal. I have over 20 cordless tools ranging from nail guns to 1/2in impacts. Love there tools
Bill B
Being able to work with both hands is much needed.
Michael Kotlarz
I like the fine adjustment that I could use to align industrial ink jet print engines. I would also use it to align the pre and post equipment for the print engines.
Andy E
The added visibility of the green laser and the fine adjustment feature are the two features that would be most helpful in my applications.
Elijah W Wong
Fine adjustment is a game changer. Don’t need to finagle the stand. Very happy to see this and a chance to win it all!
Ethan beyenhof
The 360 would make layout a breeze and cut down on moving my laser to layout a different portion of the room. Also different mounting options would be a plus for me.
MikeR
The fine adjustment knob. Allowing me to manually change projected line in fine increments is the most attractive features. I currently get close when I try to account for some other factor of the project the adjustment knob will help with accounting for all that is happening
John Holmes
The runtime of the 12v battery is quite impressive, and the micro adjustment feature would save me a lot of time
Mike G
The fine adjustment would make my life much easier.
James
It being a green laser is pretty useful. The Bosch red laser one I use just was not visible enough. I like that it works with both the 12 and 20 V battery since the 12 V battery is what I would most likely use for portability.
Gabe
Durability! I have a cheap laser level that broke after a couple of uses.
Dan Schletewitz
The mounting options are the best feature in my opinion. Being able to slap it onto anything metal and easily set it up is what makes it so useful and not just something that gets stuck in a drawer. The wife wants floating shelves in the office and I’m dreading putting them up without this.
Chris Ficken
Having great runtime sure makes life easier, hate swapping batteries
Andrew P
Definitely being able to use one of my many 20v dewalt batteries . My current dewalt laser uses AA batteries and every time I need it it’s dead. Also the fine adjustment will be a huge upgrade. I have a kitchen project that I will be installing floating shelves and also a garage shelving project that a laser would be great for.
Eric
The biggest deal to me is the 20v DeWalt battery compatibility at all. That is my primary system and being able to use that stable of batteries would be huge.
Travis D
Mounting options have to be the thing to get it over the edge
Doug N
Looks like a nice upgrade for the cheap lasers I’m used to. Best features are the bright green line for distance and the accuracy of 1/8” at 30’.
Jonathan Kutz
The feature for it to use the same battery as my other lasers.
Diego
I think the most important feature to me would be the cross compatibility with other tools’ power source. I hate having to get new chargers and batteries for new tools when I could just swap them out from one tool to the next instead.
Mac
Fine adjust, green laser so I can see it and a very competitive price.
Kenneth Fetting
I would really appreciate the green laser and the fin-adjust knob. The compact size is also nice.
Butch Chiochon
it would have so many uses the 1st one i would use it for is floor tile
Nick
In one word “compatibility“, with that said I wish it was more portable. It’s great that Dewalt has 12V/20 V compatibility with these, but that thing is massive. I am not convinced that the magnet on the back will be able to hold onto a strip of corner guard. For me, the chargers being compatible for both voltages is enough. Overall, it seems we have given up portability four compatibility.
Jhonny Rojas
Fine adjustment knob would be very helpful on my tile installation jobs
Gwiz
Makes my red beam laser level look old
Thanh H.
Been waiting for a 20v laser. Reduces the number of different battery types I need to carry.
Bill K
George’s reply is exactly what I was going to write….. “ Fine adjustment is hugely more convenient than my current laser level. Also the green light is a welcome change. My red laser gets the job done, but greens seem like they might be easier on my aging eyes.”. Being able to move the laser around and quickly reset it is really valuable for me.
Tom Jensen
The magnetic base looks like a great feature, but the fine adjustment is the winner to me. I’ve had other cheap lasers which were essentially useless – but excited to see how a high quality green laser will work. I’ve been a Team Milwaukee player for quite a while, this would be a great opportunity to be able to compare it to the current Dewalt products.
Steve-o
The fine adjust knob would be really useful for my current projects. I’d love to use the level on my deck renovation, or my upcoming basement work. Being able to cast a line for setting a handrail or check joist level would be fantastic!
lyt
I like the 20V battery compatibility as I do not own any 12V batteries, and also the fine adjustment.
Mikemike
I need this to complete my man cave layout.
David Lewis
I do very detailed work and the fine tune adjustment is perfect. This feature will allow a quicker adjustment and allow more precise measurement points.
Will Carter
I would say the fine adjustment knob is a great feature that I’m looking forward to but honestly it’s the battery platform. I’m so invested in dewalt 20v that I have been waiting for something like this. So I’d say the fact that it can run off 20v makes this laser great. Especially since it appears to be a really bright light and accurate.
Elijah
Love the fine control knob!!!!!
Eric S
Compatibility with the other Dewalt tools I use is really convenient
Graham
Multi-voltage compatibility is great! Need!
Adrian
I would have to say both the extended runtime and fine adjustments knob. Having to change batteries while working especially when utilizing the laser to line something up and having to stop just kills productivity. And the fine adjustment looks like it’ll make getting the vertical laser line right where you need it much simpler and more accurate then repositioning the laser to try and get it perfect
Micah
Compatibility with 20v batteries I have is important. Sure could use this for the upcoming flooring project I have!
Sam
the feature of being able to use the 12 and 20 volt batteries is a big plus, not having enough batteries can be a hassle but being able to use my 20 and 12 volt battries is very use ful.
Tyler
The distance that the laser can reach is definitely one of the best features, it relives worry about moving the laser while keeping it close to the same as before
Spencer Vilt
I love the fact that there is a magnet on the side seeing as how I do lots of metal work. Which I will be using with this to level and make sure things are plumb and flush. Great tool from the looks of it! So invested in the 20v line I love it would be a great addition!
Ruger Jennings
I lost how the three laser can help do a wider variety of jobs over the laser I currently use which only has the one and on top of that the usage of the 20/12V system is much more convenient then the double aa batteries my current one uses
Michael Hommer
I love the mounting features there are so many option and the laser I currently have is not very easy to mount and get into position. This looks like a great tool would love to try it out
Manuel Martinez
The fine adjustment knob would be such a time saver when your trying to align it along a track to layout the tip track when framing
Michaelwantsfood
I love the fact that Dewalt is bringing lasers to the 20v system. I was afraid I’d have to buy 12v lasers but now I can use my 20v batteries on a laser!
Lauren Togneri
The fine adjustment knob! I have a very small Ryobi laser level and it is really difficult to get the line right where you want it. I only expected to use it once or twice, but my husband and I realized we were used it in every project as we started to remodel our house and it doesn’t cut it anymore. We are doing woodwork, tile, cabinets and general placement.
Vasyl Hrishka
I really love the ability to have the 3 ways 360 degrees. I have my 20v 360 but it’s only one 360 and I constantly have to readjust it.
I would definitely use this for my next job doing a bathroom remodel.
Roman Jauregui
My favorite features is definitely the longer runtime made possible by the 20V MAX battery compatibility. As well the easy of grabbing a 12 or 20 v. To top everything off my third favorite is the fine adjust knob! Dewalt is definitely paying attention to costumer feed back and that is awesome !
Kemal
The fine tune adjustment when laying out for equipment that has tight tolerances is a must. It’s always a critical site when you multiple trades that rely on your layout.
Nathan Hines
The laser would be a great addition to my collection. #DewaltTough
Kris Hogg
I would really like to have a green laser itself, other than that the fine adjustment knob would be famtastic
Josh
Just started doing paver and retaining walls as a new job as an independent contractor. Would be great for layout lines as well as helping with grade. Could also square up with existing structure much much easier.
Dan Heitzman
It’s all the features that are important. I use lasers at work but don’t own one myself and I can’t always borrow one when I need to. So the most important feature to me is simply to own one.
Lauren Johnson
The strength of the green laser line powered by the 20V max battery is one of the best features. We frequently use lasers for lining up tile. This laser will work great for floors and walls.
Chris
The ability to use the 20v or 12v is a welcomed feature. As is the fine adjustment on it.
Leofigueroa1982
I really like the knob feature that really going to save time and make things easier.
Mae Kariya
The magnetic strong hold would be amazing! My husband may or may not be a clumsy worker so this would be awesome. Not to mention the best gift to give him!
Travis Robertson
The fine adjustment would be great for laying tile.
Aceoftrades
I bought a cheap laser on Amazon and it broke in like a half an hour… been looking at the Dewalt as a replacement. Black and yellow hasn’t failed me yet
Jacob
Find adjustment is a great feature.
Ryan
The fine tune adjustment will save hours over the span of my career as to not have to have a partner adjust the laser back and forth 10 times when using a reference mark from a large distance
Victor Cardenas
Long lasting battery is really great!
Jeff
The best feature would absolutely be the fine adjustments! I bought a cheap level without any adjustment methods and it is such a pain to get the beam positioned exactly where you need it.
Hector Vizcarra
I love the ability to fine tune everything, this truly is a life saving feature when you just need that little extra height.
Christopher
I’m most interested in the adjustment knob!
Jerry Delgado
The 20v battery is a huge draw. Also the magnet mount. I’d use this mainly around the house for anything needing leveling which in this house is everything!
Chad Blaszczyk
The fine adjustment knob seems like the most important new feature for my needs
Christopher Grovo
This thing would make a lot of this summers projects take shape quicker. The pond. A shed and greenhouse. That run time would just leave one less thing to fiddle with through the day.
Jarod
I think the visibility of the laser is awesome but having the flexibility in power source takes the cake.
Carlos Aceves
I’ve tried a variety of lasers and this is the true winner for me. The fine adjustment knob was a game changer for complex layouts. I have wanted a set of my own ever since I tried it. It’s intuitive to use and easy to set up. Nice and bright too.
Brian
The green laser is the best!
Willy Walnoha
The battery compatibility will help. The strong mounting options. Being able to see it at 100 ft. Something I’ll have to see myself. This will help on tile work am laying out kitchen. Cabinets, can light
Joseph Mattice
I work in tile and the combination of a square line on the floor and a fine adjustment knob will make a huge difference to my work.
Jeremy R
I do kitchen and bath remodels. This would make cabinet and tile setup so much easier. The fine adjustment knob seems like the most important part. Getting dead on grout lines is what separates a diy job from a professional.
Adam
For me the fact that it runs on rechargeable batteries and not AAs like my existing level is huge. Plus, I went cheap and got a red laser which works for small projects, but the green one would definitely be a nice upgrade.
Clinton P
The adjustment knob would be very beneficial for me when I’m trying to install doors and windows
Ed
Moved into our new house late Nov 2020 and have several project that would require both the level and the 12V tools. Must redo the entire garage and existing fence in the backyard was done poorly and needs to be replaced/upgraded. My wife and daughters would also like some modifications to the large back porch which will entail using the level and other tools included in this package.
Joaquin
The really cool thing about it is how visible it and the line is pretty fine. I’ve seen videos about and I think makes the job go a lot smother with the cross laser function when building tile showers or installing cabinets
Andy Ringsmuth
Hope to build a workshop in the back yard this year (if I can afford it! Lumber prices, dang) and this would be hugely helpful to ensure everything is lined up. I like of course that it fits with the rest of the 20v line which I’m definitely bought in-to.
The green laser sounds great too, easier for me to see it.
Ernest Gray
Micro adjustments and run time are nice
Nick M
Fine adjustment knob, without a doubt! I’m constantly looking for things to shim my cheap laser level so I get it just right. Cardboard pizza boxes folded in half = not professional 😂
Did I see a magnet too? That would help. I don’t always have my tripod or a great surface for it – I end up looking for creative places to set the laser…magnet expands the creativity!
Hans
The micro adjusting is the feature I would be most enthused by.
H all
I need a new laser and this green laser has all the features I’m looking for.
Brent
I like that it works with both 12v and 20v batteries so I always know I’ll have one on hand.
Tyler hiestand
The fact that it’s compatible with my only battery platform is important to me.
bkirsch
The battery compatibility and fine adjust knob are the key features for the majority of my needs. I’d use it on some much needed fence repairs this spring.
Miguel Angeles
I love that they made a laser that’s capable with the batteries I already own . I didn’t know about the knob feature till just now that I read about it. If I win it I plan to use it for alot of work such as framing. Acoustical ceiling and much more.
Petar
Fine adjustment is the winner for me. Will be perfect for a basement framing job I have coming up.
Philip Proctor
The fine adjustment knob is the greatest thing ever! The visibility of the green laser is just icing on the cake.
DGillis
The versatility of the mounting options would be great. I do all kinds of layout both at work, and at home for personal projects, and the ease of setting up a laser makes a job that much better, and makes me more likely to use the laser!
DrewPH
I will use the fine adjustment knob to mock my enemies as I point out how unlevel their back-splashes are!!!
…but first I’ll double check my lines…
stocktool
The fine adjustment capability and the versatile mounting options are useful to install the basement drop ceiling.
CMD
20v max compatibility is a huge deal. I would hate having to bring a 12v battery and charger with me to a jobsite. I’d use the laser for framing.
dewaltAddict
Battery life and ability to use the same battery system
AlgonH
The fine adjust knob is a great addition and would be highly useful.
Rafe
The cross-compatibility of batteries is definitely the main draw here. I own a plug-in and a AA, so being able to use my existing array of batteries is a huge plus. Was waiting for DeWalt or Milwaukee (the batteries I own) to release a good battery-powered level (with laser adjustment!) for a while… DeWalt wins!
Vincent Weaver
Simply the all around versatility- not a do-one-job tool.
