Dewalt DCS373M2 20V Metal Cutting Saw Kit

Chris sent us an email that he spotted a new metal-cutting saw kit (model DCS373M2) over on Dewalt’s website. The saw appears to be the same as in the DCS373 kit that was announced nearly a year ago, but with one important difference. This new kit comes with two DCB204 XR premium 4.0Ah lithium-ion batteries.

Dewalt has already released 18V/20V Max 4.0Ah batteries overseas six months ago, but this is the first indication that a USA release is imminent.

From the product description: (2) DCB204: 20V MAX* XR Premium Li-Ion Batteries (4.0Ah).

It appears that the plastic shielding at the front of the saw has also been modified for greater clarity. We won’t know if this is the case until we examine a production model in person.

Thanks Chris for the heads-up! As always, reader tips are much appreciated.

Here is additional reasoning why we believe the “4.0Ah” part indicates the imminent release for 4.0Ah battery packs in the USA.

  • Current 20V kit model numbers all end in C1, C2, L1, or L2, with the letter referring to the size of the battery (compact or high-capacity). The “M” designation of this kit refers to the new 4.0Ah battery packs. This carries over from the international 18V XR line.
  • Home Depot currently lists this kit as DEWALT 20 Volt MAX(4.0 Ah) 5-1/2 in. Cordless Metal Cutting Circular Saw Kit. It is unlikely that Dewalt’s website AND the fact sheet they sent out to retailers both have errors.

Nope, not yet. These batteries haven’t been announced in the USA yet. But, the emergence of this saw kit suggests that a USA announcement and market release is imminent.

I really look forward to the 4.0 dewalt (or anyones) batteries. I am pleased with the 3.0’s, the 4.0’s should be awesome in the brushless.

By the way, Amazon has the 20 volt brushless impact driver back at 189.88. It usually goes for much higher. It is a fantastic tool. Although it comes with the 1.5 amp batteries, with a 3.0 I get days use of heavy use before recharging. I hope you do not mind me posting this, but it really is a great tool.
