Best Dewalt Drill Bit Deals for Black Friday 2022

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

There are two new early Black Friday 2022 Dewalt drill bit deals that you should definitely consider.

Amazon has the Dewalt DWA1184 14pc drill bit set for $9.98, and Home Depot has the Dewalt DWA1180 10pc drill bit set for $5.97 – a new low!

I really like Dewalt’s “black and gold” drill bits, which are featured in both sets. They have 135° split point tips, 3-flat shanks on larger sizes to reduce spinning, and perform well in a variety of materials.

I include a brief analysis of both deals below. Let me know in a comment which you think is the better bargain!

Dewalt 14pc Drill Bit Set for $9.98

Dewalt-14pc-Drill-Bit-Set-Black-and-Gold

This Dewalt 14pc drill bit set (DWA1184) is always extremely popular and fast-selling when it drops to just under $10.

It includes sizes from 1/16″ to 1/2″, including a duplicate 1/8″ bit.

Part of what makes this such a great deal is that it includes larger drill bits that often cost more than $10 to buy individually. The lowest I can find the 1/2″ drill bit for is $13 by itself.

Price: $9.98

Dewalt 10pc Drill Bit Set for $5.97

Dewalt-DWA1180-10pc-Drill-Bit-Set

From what I can tell, $5.97 is a new low price for this Dewalt 10pc drill bit set (DWA1180). My records show that it was $7.97 last year for Black Friday.

This set comes with sizes from 1/16″ to 5/16″, with duplicate 1/16″ and 5/64″ drill bits.

It’s a great value if you wish to stock up on smaller drill bits.

Deal Analysis

You get a lot of value for your money with either deal, but which is better?

If you’re not sure which is best for your needs, the 14pc set has a higher value and includes all of the same sizes as in the 10pc set. If you want to spend less on a small-bit replenishment set, go for the 10pc set.

If you’re really not sure which deal would serve you better, buy both. You get a broader range of sizes with the 14pc set, and extra of the smallest size drill bits with the 10pc set for when – not if – you accidentally break them.

As a reminder, these drill bits are intended for use in a standard drill chuck. They will not fit impact drivers.

If you need impact-rated drill bits, Home Depot has a Milwaukee 15pc hex-shank drill bit set for $20 right now.

i think i said this last year. picking up both is a no brainer if you need smaller drill bits.

16 bucks gets you a large assortment of sizes with the 14 pc and adding the 10 pc gives you doubles and triples of the sizes to replace the most commonly needed by being broken, dulled and lost.

I grabbed a bunch of these sets last year.

So did I, and the 13 piece set. Haven’t broke any of them yet. Really like the way they stack together, and the clear covers for easy selection.

And then on Amazon.com there was a 13pc set (DW1163) last year, which is a good complement to the aforementioned DWA1184.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004RGVF/

The price was $7.97 for quite a while, as far as I remember. And then it even dived (dove?) to $5.98.

Is there any way to search or sort what items are in the home depot “gift center”?

The first link is the general landing page with the different brands’ “buy this, get free tools” cordless promos, the second link is to the “gift center” items.

I’ve been doing legwork to see what’s out at my local Home Depot and Lowe’s stores.

It’s always a huge chore to sort through, which is why I’m starting slow, as I organize and analyze everything in the background.

I bought some of these last year really cheap. Have never used them. I always grab my 1/4 Hex set bits for rapid change all the time.

I have traditional drill bits and Milwaukee hex-shank impact bits. I very strongly prefer standard drill bits over impact-rated. I have the drill bit in my drill, fastening bits in my screwdriver or impact, and can pick up a tool, and then the next one, rather than having too many loose bits to juggle back and forth.

It’s good to have both kinds available. That’s what works best for me, but I also came from a “no, no, no” standpoint towards hex-shank drill bits.

Whether it’s true or not, I feel that drill bits in a drill chuck result in better hole quality than hex-shank bits in an impact. Sometimes that matters, other times it doesn’t.

Agreed! Hex drive bits in an impact good for fast quick holes but definitely not for precision! Too much play in the impact chuck! And if using hex drive bits in a drill…why? Takes the same amount of time to insert and tighten as regular bits. Also hex drive bits are more costly and generally only include smaller sets with common sizes. Lastly just get an impact driver quick chuck and problem solved. There are a ton of them on Amazon varying in price but I only have the Dewalt and Makita versions from a decade ago so can’t comment on the quality of others.

Either kit is good to have backups. The case is an added bonus for something else.

Agreed. I usually pick up at least a couple this time of year too.

Like Stuart mentioned, inevitably I accidentally break the small sizes at some point. I just switch to a new set for portable use, put the loose bits into my general drill bit population and use the case for something else.

At these prices it doesn’t even make sense to replace one of the small bits.

HD also has a DeWalt Impact Ready 12 piece drill bit set, with hex shanks, on sale for $14.88 in store, $14.97 on line with free ship to home. It’s mostly made in Thailand. In store sign says “$30 VALUE”, while online the normal price is listed as $19.97.

I’m thinking about picking up one of these and one of the Amazon sets.

Thanks! I updated the post and pushed it to the top.

$8.18 is even better, but I would guess this price to be extremely fleeting or quantity-limited.

How are y’all hacking these ToughCase setups? Anything cool to show?
I just bought the four-pack clamshell at Lowes (DWA110SET) mainly for the four cases. I’m looking to pack in bits, specialty drivers (even my security lock bit set), and even some small hand tools for my fly-pack where minimizing space and weight are ultra-critical.

Has anyone had problems with stacks of these unlatching and cases opening up/spilling contents? That seems to be one weakness of the single latch serving as the closure for a case and the attachment point to the adjacent case.

Finally, has anyone figured out how to get the “Extra-Small Toughcase” size to connect with any of the rest? I have a few of those and love the size, but they just don’t work well with the system. I wish they had trays that could slip into the dovetails on regular and larger toughcases. Alas for now, I keep them inside various Plano 3700 packs in my travel kit.
    – The snap-in black tray doesn’t positively hold the bits, so is not usable outside the outer case.
    – The width of the extra-small toughcase is about 1/4″ too wide to fit between the dovetail columns of a larger tougcase.

Seems the amazon deal is gone on the 14 piece set.
19.95 is the least expensive via 3rd party that I can find.

Thanks for the update! I reverted the post and pushed it back a few days in the lineup. It seems they sold out or pulled inventory to save for Black Friday.
