Dewalt DWP611PK Router Kit

Over at Amazon (and some other authorized dealers) the Dewalt DWP611PK compact router kit is on sale, today only. Thank you to Ed for the heads-up!

The sale price of $129 is lower than its regular $179 price, reflecting a $50 discount.

This Dewalt router kit was featured in a pre-Black Friday bundle deal that included a sander and sandpaper at the regular price. Today’s deal works out a lot better for anyone who didn’t need a new random orbit sander.

The Dewalt DWP611PK is a compact (1/4″ collet) variable speed router, and is typically used for light to medium routing tasks, trim work, and it’s also hugely popular with CNC routers. The kit comes with plunge and fixed bases.

Price: $129

I think this is a really good deal. I have a review sample from when it first came out, and it’s nice kit. It’s a very competitive compact router, and I especially like the cutting depth adjustment.

The deal is valid 12/4/2018. This is a Dewalt-advertised deal, and the official ending time might vary depending on the retailer.

I thought long and hard between getting this kit or waiting for the 20V XR cordless router in February. I opted to wait.
I can validate, however, that this the cheapest price I’ve seen this kit in 6 months anywhere.

At $129 this is a good deal – presumably a lot cheaper than what the Dewalt cordless will cost.

The Makita corded trim router kit – at Acme – is also an alternative – gives you 4 bases, 4 accessories and a bag for $225

      https://www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/makita-1-1-4-hp-compact-router-kit-rt0701cx3

The Makita cordless kits start at (at Acme) $269 for fixed base – and $369 with fixed and plunge bases.

As I understand it the bases from the corded Makita router will fit the cordless model as well. Depending on pricing, it might pay to get the fixed router kit and all the bases that way then later get the cordless. This is only from what I’ve read.

The kits at acme are eligible for the Makita $25 off promotion, so it brings the corded makita set down to $199!

$154 for cordless router. I don’t quibble over a few dollars.

Well I just bought it. Good price. Starting to build my own cabinets for my home shop so could use this to prettify my work.

The secret to buying into the Makita Cordless multi-base kit is to buy the Cordless version bare tool for between $99-129, then buy the corded multi-base kit for between $215-240 and sell off the fixed base corded router by itself.

I bought this on Amazon from CPO Outlets for $129 on 11/21. I’d had a price watch set for just over a year and it finally dropped enough to justify it. Looking forward to learning to use a router!

The Dewalt trim router is a great tool – I had this exact set, but the system for moving the motor from base to base is a bit klutzy.

Having said that, the Makita setup I have now offers literally NO fine adjustment. So by the time you have it set to lock tight, when you release the lock, the motor is so loose in the base that the rack and pinion height adjust is sloppy as heck.

I have the dewalt kit and agree. It’s certainly my favorite and most versatile router. I’ve used it more than any other router. Good dust collection, so it’s worth getting the dust attachment. More power than typical trim routers. More agile than full sized routers.

And for the CNC crowd, it’s worth noting that the little beast runs forever. 2-5 hour carves without issues, a really solid critter.

This router set went down to $104 on CPO outlet and ACME Tool on Thanksgiving with the $25 off $100 Dewalt deal. If you’re on the fence, you can wait for the deal to return. By then the cordless XR should come out for comparison.
