As mentioned in our Lowes BF sneak peek, we know that Lowes will be selling a Dewalt 18V drill/driver kit (model DC970K-2) for $100 on Black Friday. Right now, it looks like they are selling a comparable Dewalt drill (model DC759KA) for even less, at $90!
Both tools feature a 2-speed 0-450/0-1500 RPM gearbox and can deliver 380 unit watts of power. Everything on the outside looks the same as well, from the keyless ratcheting chuck to the case design. And both drills also come with 2 18V NiCd batteries and a case.

The only difference we can tell is that the Black Friday deal is available in-store, and this deal is online-only. It’s a good thing Lowes is currently offering free shipping on orders over $49!

This looks like the standard kit drill. ( The entry level DC759) It has a plastic clutch and does not have replaceable brushes ( I wore the drill that came in the 5 tool combo kit out.) It is a fine drill for the occasional use home owner.
BUT WAIT—- An even better deal that is overlooked. For $199 you get a top of the line DeWalt 18v Hammerdrill and with XRP Sawzall (DC950KX this drill kit normal sells for $249 by itself) . http://www.lowes.com/pd_24464-70-DCK251X_0__?productId=3027745
As well as two Extra long life XRP NiCAD batteries. ( These are the best and longest life of the 18V NiCad’s ) Both of the Solo drill have the wimpy 18v very short battery life. The DC950 Hammerdrill is pretty awesome ( I picked up the LiON version the DC970KL on Lowe’s Clearance/Discontinuing some of the 18V line or $89 (BNIB ) This has been one of the best deals I have had all year from Lowe’s. It would have been worth it for the batteries alone.
DeWalt is continuing to manufacture the 18v line and will for the foreseeable future.
You still have to return to the 18V line if you want an Impact driver with any Torque.
Another deal is that Home Depot has 10% off (Online only ) most of DeWalt bare tools and some kits ( you have to add it to your cart to see the discount.)

You’re right, that is a very nice combo deal! $200 for the premium hammer drill, reciprocating saw, and 2x XRP batteries! Thank you for the heads-up, and your deal find was shared in today’s Makita & Dewalt combo kit deals post.
This does look to be a “consumer special”, but it still likely beats out all of the low and mid-range models in the same price range.

In a nutshell, if you need a standard cordless drill without the fluff, buy it. It’s a total no brainer.
