Dewalt has launched a new cordless hammer drill kit that looks to be exclusive to Lowe’s, and it’s already “on sale.”
The new Dewalt DCD798P1 features the DCD798 hammer drill, compact budget charger, and a 5Ah battery.
Frankly, I like that Dewalt bundled the kit with a 5Ah battery rather than a lower capacity battery with standard-style charging dock.

Lowe’s has this priced at $179, and they say you “save $40” compared to the “was” price of $219. They say the saving end on October 29th, 2025, but I’m betting it will be the same price (or hopefully lower) throughout the holiday season.
Dewalt also recently launched a new Atomic hammer drill kit at Home Depot and independent dealers – see Dewalt Launched a New 20V Atomic Cordless Hammer Drill Kit – and I anticipate that it too will be discounted from $219 to $179 for holiday deals.
The Dewalt 20V Max DCD798 hammer drill delivers 404 UWO (Dewalt Cordless Power Tools, UWO, and Torque – Here’s What it all Really Means) and has a 2-speed gearbox with 1650 RPM top speed.
It’s a compact value-focused brushless drill. This is the Lowe’s-exclusive parallel to the Atomic series Dewalt drill found at Home Depot.

Lowe’s still has the older model kitted with a PowerStack battery, model DCD778E1, also at $179.

They also have the DCD798D1 kit priced at $179. In my experience, this type of kit bundle would have been a $99 holiday season special buy.

While this kit gives you a better or at least more premium charger, the battery is only 2Ah vs 5Ah for the new kit.

If you don’t need the hammer drilling function, Home Depot once again has the Milwaukee M18 compact brushless drill kit, 3601-21P, for $99. This kit comes with the brushless drill/driver, a standard M18/M12 charger, and a 2Ah battery.
At this time it doesn’t look like Dewalt will have any $99 price point offerings for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
Instead of simply raising prices – which they have also done – Dewalt also raised the value of what you get, which I can appreciate. We’ll get a better sense of Dewalt’s holiday season special buys and pricing in a couple of weeks.

“Frankly, I like that Dewalt bundled the kit with a 5Ah battery rather and a lower capacity”
I think you mean “rather THAN a lower…”

Thanks! *fixed* Whoops. I read that over multiple times, each time wondering if it was an appropriate use of “frankly.”

I like that charger form factor. Seems to be the kind that people want to mount on modular tool boxes.
