Dewalt 12V Max Cordless Extended Reach Ratchet and Battery Deal Hero

Dewalt has a new cordless power tool deal that seems like a great addition to 20V Max kits.

For a limited time, buy this Dewalt 12V Max Xtreme cordless extended length brushless ratchet, and you get a free 12V 5Ah battery.

Dewalt 12V Max Cordless Extended Reach Ratchet and Battery Deal Details

So why is this a good deal for Dewalt 20V Max cordless power tool users if it’s a 12V Max tool and battery?

It doesn’t come with a charger, but most Dewalt 20V Max tool users should have a multi-voltage 12V/20V Max charger. Unless it’s yellow – a lot of the Dewalt 20V Max fast chargers are only for 20V Max, and so if that’s all you have you’ll need to source a separate charger.

Cordless ratchets are a good fit for mechanics, techs, and other such users, but are convenient for all kinds of tasks and applications.

The battery you get is the normal 12V Max 5Ah battery, and not an oil-resistant model. And as mentioned there’s no charger included. That’s not a problem if you already bought into the Dewalt 12V Max Xtreme line, and most 20V Max users should have a compatible charger, but check before you buy.

Price: $199

If you’re thinking “but I want a more compact ratchet and not the extended length version,” good news – Dewalt also made that tool eligible for the same deal.

Both the extended length (DCF503EB) and standard (DCF503B) ratchets feature 3/8″ drives, variable speed at 0-250 RPM, and 60 ft-lbs (720 in-lbs) max torque.

Don’t worry if you’re on the fence – Acme Tools says their deals are valid thru 10/19/2025, and Lowe’s says their deals are valid thru 11/5/2025, unless supplies sell out sooner.

While 18V and 20V Max cordless ratchets can be convenient, 12V-class tools are generally smaller and lighter, which helps with fatigue. Since there are no good deals on the Dewalt 20V Max Atomic series ratchets right now, I’d opt for the 12V Max deals.

But if you have plenty of 20V Max batteries already, Dewalt’s 20V Max Atomic 3/8″ cordless ratchet (DCF513B) is $179 at Home Depot right now, but it doesn’t come with a battery or charger. It delivers up to 70 ft-lbs and 0-250 RPM variable speed.

While not the same, I found a Dewalt 20V Max Atomic cordless ratchet deal with bonus PowerStack starter set.

This is for the 1/2″ drive ratchet, for $219, and you get a 20V Max charger and PowerStack battery.

Home Depot ran out of the free starter kit, but Acme Tools still has this deal.

I’ve got a few 3/8″ and 1/2″ drive Dewalt impact drivers I use when doing car work. Most of them I picked up super cheap, or with a kit.

I’ve often wondered “What would the advantage of a cordless ratchet” over the impact drivers be?

It depends on what you’re doing. I think that the frequency of use of a manual ratchet (or air ratchet) vs an impact wrench might be a good litmus test.

The cordless ratchet can get into tighter smaller places than the bulkier impact wrench. While the ratchet doesn’t have the torque of your impact wrenches it is handier to use at times.

Besides the bulk issue, it’s not always desirable to use an impact type force.
Think of the times you might grab a cordless screwdriver instead of an impact driver. Just like an experienced/pro woodworker has many tools that seem similar (like 2-4 different sized circular saws, a miter saw, a track saw, and a table saw, or a drawer of different screwdrivers), an experienced or professional mechanic has many different types and sizes of ratchets and impact guns.
There are usually many different ways to handle a basic task; different tools can make a specific task in a specific situation easier or faster.

There is also more control over the torque. With a air/battery rachet, you can run the bolt down quickly, and then use it as a manual ratchet to tighten by hand. Same thing with removal. Break it free by hand so you don’t snap or strip the bolt/nut, and then power it off. Caveat in both cases not to try and use it like a breaker bar.

The other day Woot had several of the Dewalt ratchets at a decent price; plus another 10% off if you ordered via their app. Plus free shipping for Amazon Prime members (since they are owned by Amazon). For example, the DCF512B 20v 1/2 ratchet was $114 shipped.

Dewalt says Woot is NOT an authorized retailer.

Dewalt’s website doesn’t say Amazon is an authorized dealer, but I believe you recently confirmed it is? Woot is part of Amazon, which is why Amazon Prime members get free shipping on Woot as well. I currently have something from there in transit, and the tracking info says it was shipped from Amazon. Knock on wood (not woot) I have never had to warrantee a Dewalt tool, ever. It would be interesting to see their actual take on the Amazon/Woot relationship. As far as simply worrying if it is legit or not, I would again say It’s part of Amazon, so if you trust amazon you can trust woot.
        Just my 2 cents.

Dewalt corporate has told me that Amazon IS an authorized dealer, and that Woot is NOT.

I believe you, but I would love to know the logic behind it. Like I said, I recently ordered these angle grinder holders thru Woot (for $5 each it wasn’t worth making something)
            https://tools.woot.com/offers/angle-grinder-holder-for-milwaukee-dewalt
and the tracking showed as shipped from Amazon, and they arrived in an Amazon box with a Amazon return address.

My first thought was maybe because Woot is generally the overstock/surplus wing of Amazon, Dewalt didn’t want to be associated with that. But then CPO Outlets is an authorized dealer and they specialize in overstock/surplus/reconditioned sales. Which leads into I don’t see Tyler Tool listed as a dealer, yet they are the same company as CPO. I guess that’s why I never worked for a big corporation. Too hard to make sense of some of their decisions.

Because I am somewhat OCD, I had to dig deeper. My initial email to Dewalt was pretty much a cut and past that just said Amazon is an authorized dealer, but 3rd party sellers on Amazon (obviously) may not be, That didn’t really answer my question, but after a few emails and some deeper searching on my part, it appears that while Woot is part of Amazon, there is no guarantee that what Woot clearances is solely Amazon stock. The item may come from Amazon, or they may be selling out 3rd party overstock. There is no way of knowing in advance. That makes sense to me now. It would make me slightly more cautious about buying Dewalt tools via Woot, but because of their/Amazon’s strong return policies, I would probably still consider it for a great price, and just be very careful inspecting it when it arrived. Always happy to learn something new, but at my age it probably means I forgot something else in return.
