Another Dewalt Portable Table Saw Deal (12/10/19)

Dewalt DW745 Table Saw

Several retailers had Black Friday and Cyber Monday specials on the Dewalt DWE7480 10″ jobsite table saw, which was priced at an all-time-low of $229. That deal is long-gone. But, right now the Dewalt DW745 10″ portable table saw has also dropped to the super-low price of $229.

Compared to the DWE7480, the Dewalt DW745 table saw is a little smaller, with lower a slightly smaller rip capacity of 20″ (which is plenty enough for most users), and it has a slower motor speed.

No, you can’t rip a full sheet of plywood down the middle, but a saw this side is not quite the best choice for a task like that. I prefer to make longer rip cuts with a track saw or circular saw, and then use a table saw to cut sheet goods to final dimensions.

The DW745 has been around for some time. I always thought it was replaced by the DWE7480, but it has seen new life as a holiday season special-buy. $229 is a really low price. This saw was $269 for Black Friday.

It’s not unusual for this saw to sell for under $300 during holiday shopping seasons, but it usually doesn’t drop below $269. According to online price trackers, this saw dropped down to $249 very briefly in October.

Here’s a look at our historical posts on this saw. From this, we can see that the DW745 table saw dropped in price to $225 right after the DWE7480 was released. I don’t remember seeing the DW745 for that low – or anywhere near that price – in the 5 years since.

In other words, if you had your heart set on buying a new compact jobsite table saw, or a Dewalt 10″ portable table saw in particular, this is the best deal right now.

  • 10″ blade size, 5/8″ arbor size
  • 15A motor
  • 3850 RPM no-load speed
  • 20″ rip capacity
  • 3-1/8″ max depth of cut at 90°
  • 2-1/4″ max depth of cut at 45°
  • Rack and pinion style fence
  • 0-45° bevel range
  • Weighs 45 lbs
  • 2-1/2″ dust port

Deal Price: $229

At $229, this price is $40 lower than Black Friday 2019 pricing.

Anyone know what DeWalt charges to recondition one of these? I have one that’s fully functional but some of the plastic is cracked, and the rails system is is gritty and kind of corroded (measurements aren’t clear).

Call DeWalt directly and ask them. Please let us all know what they tell you.

I can’t see shipping + refurbish cost being cheaper than just buying a new one at this price, sadly.

That is undoubtedly correct. The labor cost in the US to fix something is sometimes more than what it costs to make the item new in China. Sadly that usually means that we fill up our landfills with stuff that in other cultures might be serviceable. My wife and I marveled watching guys in India repairing cheap (like $3) umbrellas for a few rupees.

I live a few miles from their repair center. Otherwise you’re definitely correct.
