Over at Home Depot, they have a new Dewalt miter saw deal, or at least a deal I hadn’t noticed until now. They have the Dewalt DWS716 12″ dual bevel compound miter saw and a bonus work stand for $299.
Right now, Amazon has the Dewalt DWS716XPS 12″ miter saw for $279. The DWS716 is similar, but without the XPS LED crosscut position guidance system. The DWS716 is usually priced lower than the DWS716XPS,

Dewalt’s heavy duty workstation is currently $136 and change via Amazon and eligible for $25 off $100+ savings
This Home Depot bundle, $299 for the 12″ miter saw and work stand, is a very good value. You just have to decide whether it’s the best deal for you.
So, you have to ask yourself – do you want an LED cutline indicator system and an extra $20 in your pocket, or can you do without the XPS system and benefit from the bonus heavy duty workstand?
Price: $299

She ain’t no slider, but cool price.
Clay
Yeah, for $50 more you can have the sliding 779 BUT is needs a huge amount of clearance behind the saw.
Patrick
I know. I have it. At least it stores nicely when rotated.
I just meant that the description of “sliding” in the above article is incorrect. Stewart and crew have been doing an amazing job of keeping us all up to date on deals. This is one of the few, possibly only, errors to slip through.
Stuart
Thanks! It’s non-sliding.
Sorry, my hands sometimes have a mind of their own.
Patrick
Sorry for mistyping your name……in a post about errors.
Nathan
Not sure I need a slider so a 12 should do plenty
Dmitriy
imho XPS is better, everyone built it’s own miter station in own workshop.
workstand is good for contractors who goes outside of the shop.
Rage
From what I have seen in store, the XSP is not plug N play on the “deal” saws

It’s a little bit of work, but a $75 kit (light, wiring harness, switch, and new handle) and 15 minutes of your time will get you the XPS light on a 779 saw. Search “add xps light to dewalt 779” and you fill find plenty of instructionals and the parts.
