(Expired?) Dewalt DWS780 12″ Sliding Miter Saw is on Sale for $349!

Dewalt DWS780 12-Inch Sliding Miter Saw

Amazon and Home Depot have the Dewalt DWS780 12″ sliding miter saw on sale, and for the unbelievably low price of $349!

I reviewed this saw a while ago, and have regretted giving it away to Habit for Humanity. It cut smoothly, the LED cutline indicator system worked beautifully well, and I miss its cutting capacity.

This is Dewalt’s flagship miter saw, with all the bells and whistles you could ask for.

The more value-focused DWS799 is typically $349, and looks to have dropped to $329 on Amazon.

The DWS780 is regularly $600 and almost never gets discounted. When there is a promo on this top-of-their-line miter saw, it’s usually for a free miter saw stand.

This isn’t the most portable saw, but this seems to be true for all 12″ sliding miter saws. It’s manageable.

  • 12″ blade
  • Cuts up to 2×14 lumber, 2×16 with back fence
  • 60° miter (right), 50° (left)
  • Dual bevel
  • Weighs 58 lbs

Sale Price: $349

Update 11/28/19 4:05pm: Amazon has sold out (or taken the listing to preserve inventory), and Home Depot looks to have done the same, presumably to preserve inventory for tomorrow (Black Friday).

Darn it. I had been leaning very heavily towards the Dewalt DWS716XPS non-slider miter saw that’s on sale today, but at this price, I might need to pick up the DWS780 for my workshop. Decisions, decisions.

I don’t think I’ve seen this miter saw on sale for anywhere near this price before.

Amazon seems sold out but HD is not!

I wonder, with the 779 staying around 350 and the 780 lower than it was, if a model refresh is coming?

Maybe something that requires less clearance behind the saw (my only complaint about the 779)?

    That is a phenomenal price.

Stuart, I don’t know if you’ve used this saw much, but I don’t think you may appreciate just how huge this saw is. By the time you throw a dust bag or a vac hose on the back it’s over 40” front to back, I wanna say 44” if my memory serves me right. I use this saw, and the FlexVolt 790 a lot because I do long compound miters, reversed skirt boards with mitered risers, deep window stools with returns, deep hardwood treads, and applications such as those. However, if I don’t need it for those situations I’m most certainly going to keep it in the trailer! I would rather use a smaller saw. And you know what miter saw I have at the shop? A 715 with Cutline. I can set it close to the wall, it’s quick and easy to use, and it doesn’t get in the way. In the shop, almost anything that I can do on a 780 I can do on the tablesaw with a miter gauge or a sled, and it’s usually safer. If your breaking down lumber, a circular saw, or even a jigsaw works just fine. And if there’s a situation that calls for a cut that isn’t possible on the tablesaw, pull out the track saw.

I pulled the SCMS out of my shop many years ago and have never regretted it.

Never mind. I reloaded the page numerous times and there was only one comment, then when I submitted my comment the rest showed up.

      Carry on. . . . Lol.

I’ve been looking at the Milwaukee m18 miter saw. Would you recommend this one over it. I like the idea of battery powered and portability but don’t necessarily need it since I’m just a DIY’r.

Thanks for the comment. I nearly bought the 780 for the deal, even though a smaller, simpler saw better suits my needs. The 716xps via Amazon is now ordered instead.

I wonder where that pic came from? That’s not a US spec DWS780.

      Thanks, I’ve changed it out.

I really don’t remember – the one I first used in this post was from 2016.

I got my Flexvolt 12″ sliding miter saw brand new (untouched floor display) with just the battery adapter for $300 a couple years ago. I had the 10″ corded version which was a couple years old by that time, that I sold that day for $300. It was like a Birthday present.
Anyhow, if you’re willing to buy from retail closeout bodegas and the like, you will find some really outrageous deals. It’s how I’ve gotten my entire tool arsenal upgraded.

Hopefully the 790 follows, and I will not miss it this time. I have the Flexvolt 716 and it is a wonderful saw, but I do sometimes miss the slider.

Having the cordless capability was something I thought I would not use very often but it is a game changer.

And suddenly today the website is showing stock for all the local stores that were “limited availability” yesterday (so you couldn’t pick a local store to pickup) now that the price is back to $499

This all seems like a big fat game.

Do they want people to NOT go into the store?!?!
