Dewalt is soon coming out with a trio of new aluminum-bodied LED flashlights. While designed for rough and tough jobsite use, the flashlights also look to be great for everyday, professional, and home use.

This flashlight is about mini-Maglite sized, and running on 2 AA batteries it outputs 80 lumens of white light with about 5 hours of runtime.

Powered by 3AAA batteries, this more compact flashlight outputs 120 lumens of white light. Given the small cell size, runtime is about 3 hours.

It is obvious that Dewalt is seeking to rip market share away from Maglite with this 3-D monster of a flashlight. Output is at 120 lumens, and runtime is a whopping 72 hours. Presumably that does not mean 72 hours of maximum output, but hopefully there won’t be a huge drop-off in brightness.
The three flashlights are estimated to be priced at $20, $30, and $40 respectively, and are expected to hit stores in January 2012.
You know, we really should have seen this coming. When we first tried out their 12V LED flashlight, we were deeply impressed. More recently, we took a look at their new 20V version (DCL040), and it performs even better. And with Dewalt jumping into the hand tool business, the introduction of these flashlights should not have surprised us as much as they did.
