This time of year, there are a lot of “special buy” cordless power tool combo kits, usually featuring lower capacity batteries, slower chargers, value-focused drills and impact drivers, and other such compromises. Right now, Dewalt’s DCK694P2 20V Max 6-tool brushless kit is on sale, and it’s nothing but Pro-grade and heavy-duty.
To start off, this kit looks to be regularly priced at $849, according to a quick price search. But right now, it’s on sale for $549.

Unfortunately, it is NOT eligible for any additional coupons, such as the new $50 off $200+ Dewalt promo.
Update: This deal was originally published on 11/28/2019 and republished on 11/23/2020. Last year, the promo was also eligible for added $25 coupon savings, but they wised up for this year. $549 is still an excellent price.
Amazon also had the deal a few days ago, but it sold out and the Amazon-direct listing has since been removed. I’m including the link it case it comes back.
Update 12/10/2020: It’s back in stock at Amazon!

- DCS367 compact reciprocating saw
- DCS355 oscillating multi-tool
- DCL040 LED worklight

I really like Dewalt’s compact brushless drill/driver, and if you want that, this other HOT Dewalt brushless deal might be for you. But if you want max power, that’s where Dewalt’s DCD996 brushless drill/driver wins favor.
Sure, $549 is a lot of money, but you get a lot for your investment, and this kit doesn’t have any cost-cutting compromises, at least none that I can see.
If you’re looking for lower-priced cordless power tool combo kits, you’re going to get lower performing and less featured tools.
I was hesitant about posting $500+ cordless combo kit deals, but I received quite a few emails and tips about this promo, and I finally took a closer look. $549 looks to be a great price on this Dewalt 20V Max premium cordless power tool combo kit.

It’s a good deal and I don’t think the price is all that much. I think I’d go with the other deal though. It has the circular saw as well and I think that’s the big selling point on either kit. I’m just not big on the hammer drills like this. Ok for small tasks but for anything I’d use it for I’d just use a rotary hammer drill. The extra weight of the hammer drill vs the regular drill isn’t worth it. I prefer a light weight drill.. I also don’t really care for this recip saw. I like the dcs380. If I’m using a compact I actually prefer my V20 recip for it’s ergonomics even though it’s not marketed as such. Though I wish it were brushless.

I find it odd that more than a year after its release, even in their “top end” kits, they’re including the 996 instead of the 997. None of their kits seem to have the Tool Connect batteries, either. As far as I know, it’s the exact same internals, so why bother making and stocking two SKUs if the only difference is a $2 radio? Makes me wonder if there’s some attempted market segmentation going on, or if maybe Bluetooth turns out not to be a very desired feature by anyone except very large-scale users. Then again, maybe they’re just clearing stock and 2020 is going to be “The Year of Tool Connect”.
Any insight?
Stuart
I’d think that most people would not want to spend more for Tool Connect versions of tools in a combo kit.
With combo kits, they have to target the majority needs and wants.

Tool connect is more of a commercial product targeted at operations that want to keep track of a lot of tools at once I believe it shares dna and maybe comparability with ProtoID/cribmaster obviously with a simplified coat of paint and some fancy tool controls added, but that’s never been the real value add.
Corey Moore
Isn’t the 997 tool connect internal? As opposed to all the new stuff that uses the optional chip installation by the batteries? This would be my first assumption, but detracting from what looks to be the format they settled on.
Corey Moore
Not* detracting
Big Richard
The 997 is an internal Tool Connect, and it allows you to not only tack the tool but also adjust settings (torque, speed, etc.), anti-bind up toggle, and diagnostics.
The newer FlexVolt Advantage tools that feature the Tool Connect chip insert is strictly for tracking, similar to the old Tool Connect tags.

Darn I bought this from Lowe’s a few days ago for $549.
But oh well, I’m still happy with the deal I got
MikeH
I bought this exact kit Black Friday 2 years ago for $599 (down from $799) *and* they were throwing in a grinder (DCG413B)! I was also able to grab a Compact Drill/Driver (DCD791B) for $88. Am keeping an eye out for a sweet deal on their router and random orbital sander. I’m not a carpenter but volunteer w/Habitat For Humanity so am quite pleased w/my investment. Happy Thanksgiving Toolguyd fans!
Jason
I bought the same kit. Sold off most of the tools. It’s still a good deal without the grinder. But with the grinder it was a no brainer.
I had been waiting for the kit to come around again so I could upgrade a few of my dad’s tools, but without the grinder I’ll probably pass.
Jonathan
Does anyone know why the $25 off isn’t working on Amazon anymore? It’s showing this for $549
Jason Nero
Looks like it is out of stock on Amazon right now. At least directly from Amazon. Could be you were seeing another seller’s offer, which won’t qualify. It also only shows the $25 off when the item is in the cart.

Dcf887? Are u serious? Its junk thats why they giving it away.
Jonathan
I’ve been doing a little research and I see a lot of people complain about the 887 while others say they have never had issues. Here is my current setup so maybe you could offer some advice..
I currently have 3 tools
Impact: DCF886
Drill: DCD790
Circular saw: DCS391 (type 3)
I go back and forth with wanting to switch to Milwaukee, get more Dewalt tools and batteries, or stick with Dewalt and get upgraded tools and more tools. Here is my debate today..
I can get two 5.0AH batteries and then two free brushless tools for $299 shipped. I was thinking about going with the 7/14 saw and multi tool. I want a more powerful saw than I have. If I did this I’d only have to sell my circular saw
My other option is to get the kit from the deal on this page.. I am then getting a newer drill, impact, and circular saw and then adding two more batteries, multi tool, sawzall to my kit. My thinking was that I could sell my drill, impact, and saw for $200 used.. then I am basically paying exactly what I would be paying for the other option but getting way more..
Out of those two options what do you think? Also do you really think I will have issues with the 887 impact? Thanks!
Ryan
What’s wrong with the DCF887?
Big Richard
Nothing, haters gonna hate. Its bit holder/collet is on the wobbly end compared to some newer impacts, some of the USA made ones had faulty triggers (DeWalt replaced mine with a Mexico made one for free, and it’s much better), and people complain that the precision mode is not very refined (I do think it is better on the newer 12v DCF801).
It’s 5 years old, so it is getting to be a bit dated. There are some unsubstantiated rumors that an update is due this spring, of course Covid may have changed that.
Clay
I think there are reports of a lack of overheat protection. I have no personal experience with that.

Right?
Jonathan
Ugh finally decided to go with this deal and they are out.. no option to buy from Amazon for this price. That sucks..
Stuart
Sorry. I don’t mean to poke fun when I say this, but with holiday deals, “you snooze you lose.”
It’s impossible to guess which deals will last a couple of days or weeks, and which will sell out fast and never return.
I saw your comment and email, and responded to your comment in the other thread the best and as fast as I could in the limited time I had.
There will be more deals.
If in your shoes, I would take this time to come up with at least two acceptable options, maybe one each for Dewalt and Milwaukee since that’s what you were yo-yoing between.
Determine what you want and how much you want to pay. What are the highest priorities?
I can keep my eyes on deals if you have flexible criteria.
You do have other options.
Acme Tools’ Free Bare Tool Promo has the 5.0Ah starter kit at $299 and you get 2 free bare tools, with the brushless circular saw and DCF887 impact as options. They also have brushless impact wrench and premium hammer drill options as well. If in your shoes, I might look closely at that deal.
As mentioned, I’d go with a higher-powered impact wrench, as the DCF887 won’t be a big upgrade over your DCF886.
Dewalt’s 4-tool kit deal has expired https://toolguyd.com/super-deal-dewalt-premium-20v-brushless-cordless-power-tool-kit-deal-112719/ , but other dealers might have it.
If this 6-tool kit, DCK694P2 , is still on your wishlist, other dealers *might* have promo pricing for Cyber Monday or later in the season.
Missing out on the deal now is unfortunate, but you have other options.
And, maybe there will be a compelling Milwaukee deal you might like better.
You could consider looking at the “free bare tool(s) with kit or starter kit” deals to formulate “plan B/C/D” options. Tools WILL start selling out, if they haven’t already, but sometimes they come back in stock later in the season. Some promos are supposed to be season-long, such as Home Depot’s.
Good luck! I can’t promise, but I can keep my eye out for alternate deals or kits.
A different 6-tool kit might be on sale later in the season. It might be worth Googling the model number every couple of days to check. DCK695P2 With that combo, it looks like the oscillating tool is swapped for a grinder.
Jonathan
Sorry to be a pain it was my fault for not looking into all the deals a little earlier on. I do appreciate the help! Unless I see a very good Milwaukee deal I think I am going to stick with Dewalt as they seem to have better prices for similar tools. Here are my two “options” I came up with.
~~Current tools~~
Impact: DCF886
Drill: DCD790
Circular saw: DCS391 (type 3)
Option 1 – Purchase the two 5.0 battery kit from Acme for $299 and get either the sawzall and multi tool or the multi tool and 7 1/4 saw to replace my saw
Option 2 – This is the one I would prefer to go with so I might wait and see if I find this deal into the holidays. 6 tool XR combo DCK694P2 for $549. If I did this I would sell off my 3 current tools. What kills me is Acme had this kit for $549 but you also got another FREE two pack of 5.0 batteries. So four 5.0 batteries total
I’m going to keep checking for that deal every day and follow the others and hopefully come up with something good. Really appreciate this site and the help!
Ryan
Just throwing it out there in case it helps you, I found this kit on Acme Tools with a bonus “mid range” half inch impact. It was a bit more at 650 but, I was also able to use their 25 dollar coupon code. 625 plus free shipping was worth it to me because I would have bought an automotive style impact either way. In the end if you went with this it’s almost like getting the kit for 550 and then spending an extra 75 to get a tool that’s usually much more expensive. I’m pretty sure that it’s basically the same kit as what the article/thread references above. No affiliations or anything just another guy who missed the original deal and went searching.

Jonathan
Thanks for the reply! Did you end up purchasing the kit you linked above from Acme? I’ve been searching for two days trying to find the kit for $550 but it’s sold out most places or more expensive. I even called Lowe’s customer service because it’s still on their website for $549 but they can’t order it anymore. They said it’s being replaced by Dewalt for a different kit.
The only thing worrying me is I don’t have any experience with Acme at all and it currently says
“Arriving Soon! (Warehouse acquiring product. Usually ships in 10-15 business days.)”
Not that I mind waiting I am just worried about it not being the exact kit or something. It’s weird that it’s listed for $650 there but they have another listed for it for $850..
https://www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/dewalt-cordless-combo-kits/dewalt-dck694p2-20v-6-tool-kit
Stuart
Promos don’t always make sense over the holiday season.
Regarding the warehouse message, it usually just means they’re waiting for the shipment.
Jonathan
Hey! Just wanted to comment back and let you know what I figured out..
I’m assuming the Acme site made a mistake 🙂
If you click the link you provided it pulls up the kit and lets you order it and it also comes with a bonus impact gun.. with the current 15% off it comes to $551 shipped!!
The interesting part though.. if you just go to their website and browse normally you can NOT find that kit for that price.. the only one you can find is back up to $850
I was able to snag one for $550 with free impact thanks to that link! I just hope they don’t try and cancel the order because of their own mistake
Stuart
Sweet!
See, I told you there would be more deals to win you over. =)
Ryan
I did end up purchasing the kit. I have purchased from them before and had no issues. The charge is pending on my card but hasn’t hit so I’m assuming they won’t hit it until it ships. I did notice what you pointed out about the warehouse acquiring product, it worried me to a small degree but I’ve had no issues with them in the past so I’d like to think if anything “wonky” happened they’d make it right. If I’m being honest, my biggest fear is that something better may come along for Cyber Monday and I’ll regret this purchase…
Jonathan
Cancel and purchase again using the 15% off code to make it $550
Thom
At that price I would have liked to seen either the Flexvolt Advantage Circular saw or the Power Detect one.
Stuart
Here you go: https://toolguyd.com/home-depot-lowes-black-friday-2020-dewalt-6pc-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-deals-comparison/
While not exact, those deals are approximately what you’re asking for.
Bryan
I’m looking to move into Dewalt, willing to spend some money on decent quality (without jumping up to Milwaukee level pricing). But a little overwhelmed by all the different combos out there. I had been eyeing the Lowes 6 tool XR kit + the battery and free tool deal. But now there are all these other options.
Save me Stuart – what’s the best deal out there right now?
Stuart
Well, what do you want?
What’s your price point? So many options.
Me? I’d go with the deal featured in this post.
AND https://toolguyd.com/home-depot-free-bonus-cordless-power-tool-deals-holiday-2020/ – I’d buy the compact drill kit and choose either the router or jig saw as my free bonus tool.
Plus compact batteries: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BYKVMSY/?tag=toolguyd-20
OR, if I wanted the jig saw and router, or either of those and the 3/8″ impact wrench, I would buy the compact 4Ah and 6Ah battery kit instead of the compact battery 2-pack.
The DCD996 is a heavy duty drill, but I like more compact drills on occasion.
If other platforms are okay, I would get the PRO kit discussed here, the Dewalt freebie offer with the battery starter kit as the “buy this” and jig saw, router, or impact wrench as the free bonus, AND a 12V class drill or screwdriver for the lighter duty tasks when I want something more compact. The DCD996 is fantastic, but too large and heavy for more delicate work – in my opinion. Adding a 12V-class screwdriver might do the trick. That way, heavy duty drill, impact for medium and heavy duty tasks, screwdriver for lighter tasks.

$500 combo kit deals compared here: https://toolguyd.com/home-depot-lowes-black-friday-2020-dewalt-6pc-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-deals-comparison/
I’d prefer a full-size reciprocating saw, but that’s not in any of these deals. If going with the Dewalt 6-tool combo kit, there’s no recip saw and so that would be a non-overlapping tool to add in.
I would try for: https://toolguyd.com/dewalt-20v-flexvolt-advantage-cordless-power-tool-deals-112020/ – that deal is out of stock but might be back for Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday.
With more criteria I could try to provide a better answer, but we are coming close to the point where I work non-stop. Next week at this time I’ll be in a better place for specific questions and recommendations. There might also be flash sales and Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday coupons, and that makes a whole big mess of everything.
THIS: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZXRCNQY/?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=toolguyd-20 is the best place to start if you ask me, but it’s not on sale right now, and with an “in stock January 2021” notice, it is less likely to be a featured deal.
Now, here’s the one line that will make everyone’s heads explode: Why Dewalt – have you considered Milwaukee M18?
Bryan
Thanks for the thorough reply, much appreciated during these busy times.
I do like Milwaukee a lot, however they are across the board in general significantly more expensive than Dewalt. As I spend most of my time in my truck between job sites and I’m no longer using my tools all day every day I don’t think the increased expense for perhaps marginal benefit makes sense.
