More Dewalt Tool Deals
Here are some more ongoing Dewalt tool deals at Acme Tools. It is my understanding that the following prices are valid thru 9/30/22 (or as supplies last).
Dewalt 20V Max 14″ Folding String Trimmer Kit – $199
Dewalt Edger Attachment – $64.99
Dewalt Hedge Trimmer Attachment – $99
Dewalt 20V Max 12″ Cordless Chainsaw Kit – $224
Dewalt 20V Max 14″ Folding Strimmer (Tool-Only) – $139
These seem to be great prices. The folding string trimmer kit is $199, compared to $219 at other authorized dealers, while the chainsaw kit is $224, compared to $238 to $259 at other dealers.
(Don’t forget about coupon code TOOLGUYD, which takes $10 off $79+ orders. You can use it once per customer every 30 days. It’s not supposed to stack on top of promo pricing.)
There are some other fall clean-up tool deals:

The product page for that Dewalt drywall sander is quite lacking. No RPM listed, no information as to the shortest and longest overall length, no product links to the corresponding sandpaper discs. Huge fail on Acme’s part for those seriously thinking of clicking the “buy” button.
I’ve had 2-3 Porter Cable corded models, and the original USA version had a variable speed that ranged from approx 1100-1800rpm. The later China-made PC7800 model’s variable speed was a blazing (TOO) fast 2100-3000rpm.
I’ve always been happy enough with PC DW sander in terms of dust collection, but picked up the Festool version because of their Granat discs they offer (the blue abrasive), I use my drywall sanders quite often for painted walls to prep an existing room for painting, and the standard sandpaper discs for the Porter Cable sanders load up with paint super fast. The Granat paper is very good in this respect, much longer lasting sandpaper.
Honestly though, I think the Porter cable’s dust collection is a bit better than Festools due to the design of the perimeter suction and perimeter bristles to seal the head. Festool’s uses a more standard perforated disc design and depending on which direction you’re using it in, it’s sometimes let out a small cloud of drywall dust.
Curiously, the Dewalt corded DW sander has the exact same model number as the older Porter Cable sander, but no doubt is the absurdly high rpm Chinese version.

From some European store listings:
Speed: 700 – 1200 rpm
Length: 1,25 – 1,6 meters
Discs: 225 mm

I think that’s because the DeWalt has officially replaced the PC model – https://www.mynewsdesk.com/us/dewalt-usa/pressreleases/dewalt-r-releases-corded-drywall-sander-3079698#:~:text=DWE7800%20Replaces%20Legacy%20PORTER%2DCABLE%20Corded%20Drywall%20Sander%20With%20Several%20Upgrades
And it runs at 700-1200 RPM, fyi.
Stuart
I’ve got specs in my news post from when it launched (https://toolguyd.com/dewalt-cordless-drywall-sander-dce800-092020/).
9″ sanding head
800-1200 RPM
49″ tool length
30 minutes runtime with 5.0Ah (DCB205) battery
Weighs 8.59 lbs

ToolUp’s email this morning was also promoting some “free” battery/tool deals. Nothing caught my eye – but they might be worth a look. The email focused on Makita – but also teased some M12 and Dewalt deals

I think we’ve got another great staged marketing image here–the action shot of the guy using the drywall sander. He looks like a heavy equipment operator. No drywaller has clothing that clean!
Derek
You don’t think a drywall guy is wearing a high-vis vest and safety glasses but not a mask? Maybe the vacuum keeps every speck of dust off him. 🙂
Stuart
Drywall dust wreaks havoc on cameras and lenses!!
MM
Clearly. There didn’t necessarily need to be actual dust flying around in the shot, but the costume doesn’t match the job being done. That guy should be directing traffic or driving a trackhoe. A greasy hard hat? A hi-viz vest? No mask? Give the guy a dust mask, ditch the hard hat, give him the kind of clothes a painter would wear, ones that already have a bunch of old stains and clumps of mud them.
Stuart
You’re not wrong, but Dewalt photos tend to have specific PPE requirements.
The setting could have been a commercial jobsite where certain PPE (hard hat, hi-viz) was required. A dust mask might not have been required if HEPA filtration was being used.
It seems strange, but there’s reason behind what you see. There’s forgivable product staging, and then there’s things like https://toolguyd.com/greenworks-24v-cordless-drill-marketing-2022/ .
Franck B.
I like how the picture emphasizes that only rough electrical has been done, so you MUST do these jobs with cordless tools–I feel most times you hook up dust collection, you may as well use a corded tool.
For many of our sites we keep a collection of disposable vests (ANSI compliant) and masks to hand out to subs that show up without PPE, because… requirements.
Some worksites may have metal still going in at one end while drywall is already going up at the other end, because work was staged to keep more smaller teams going. If it’s commercial… then hard hats for everyone, since it’s still one site.
But not all of them.
All kinds of crazy things happen.
MM
My complaints were more about the details. A hard hat makes sense. But a greasy one does not. Why would it have what appears to be some kind of oil or grease on it? If the guy’s a drywaller whatever gunk is on his hat is going to be white, not brown. Paint, mud (joint compound), drywall dust yes. Dirt-mud and grease? No. The mask may not be a legal requirement but it sure is a practical one.
there’s certainly worse product staging than this but it was still enough to give me a chuckle.
As far as the really bad ones go I think the one with the model holding a soldering iron by the barrel is up near the top!
Franck B.
@MM I think Dewalt got roasted because their photos used to be of extremely clean equipment being handled by extremely clean models… so their response swung too far the other way. 😉
Remember, these are photographers shooting these pictures, not tradies!

No problem, they also have the 10Ah DCB210 for $129 (50% off), which is a pretty solid deal as well.

Home Depot was running a sale on the 2nd Gen rover 400k light with (1) 5.0 ah /(1) 2.0 ah with charger for 179.00

I just want the new 5Ah flat packs. Right?
Nathan
wow I’d like that drywall sander but that’s a bit much. I wonder is there mesh discs in that size. I have some 5 inch and I see there are 6 inch.
Love that diablo mesh sanding disk.
Julian Tracy
I’ve never tried the mesh disc with drywall, but I find them lacking in durability when using on my Dewalt cordless 5” RO sander. While they may “last” 5x more than sandpaper – For me, they get basically destroyed if they get caught up on anything…

That Acme sale has some great deals on Fiskars gardening and landscaping tools, including axes, hammers, mauls, etc.

DEWALT Edger Attachment,
Item No.DWOAS4ED
Didn’t see anywhere which trimmer this fit. I have an older 20V non folding trimmer, will it fit?
Big Richard
No, the edger attachment only fits their FlexVolt Attachment Capable powerhead. Oddly, you cannot buy the bare powerhead, you have to buy it with either the string trimmer attachment (DCST972) or edger attachment (DCED472).
