Dewalt has launched a new ToughSystem 2.0 tool box with 3 drawers, model DWST08330.
The Dewalt ToughSystem 3-drawer tool box allows users to access tools, parts, and supplies without having to remove tool boxes, bags, or organizers stacked on top.
It features the same auto-connecting side latches as other ToughSystem 2.0 storage products, and folding side handles.

The drawers have ball bearing slides and are weather-sealed against dust and the elements.
The 3-drawer tool box is compatible with ToughSystem 2.0 and original system products and accessories.
The load capacity is 14.5 lbs per drawer, and up to 43.5 lbs total.
Price: $120
Dewalt launched the 2-drawer tool box last year, in March 2022.

I seem to recall that there were pictures of a Dewalt 3 drawer model out there for years. I think it was a model that wasn’t available in the U.S. I wonder if this is the same one or an updated version…

For whatever reasons, only the 2-drawer unit was released here.
The ToughSystem 2.0 version appears to be a minor update of the original design.

Seems like such low capacity per drawer, but I understand that’s the nature of plastic tool boxes. Still glad to have the option.

Someone please give us one DEEP drawer. You can’t put a bandsaw, circular saw, or even the planer inside one of these. Could use a deep drawer unit with a beefed up single drawer slide.

I pray some day they hear us… Bottom box with wheels/telescoping handle has lockable, weather proof drawers or cabinet door. No more unstacking EVERYTHING just to get the circ saws out of the bottom. You’d think it would be so simple, but it’s not

Packout finally worked around the large door issue with the “cabinet”with garage door type lid.
The m18 tracksaw was shown fitting sideways .
And can confirm my Metabo track compatible 6 1/2,and the x2 Makita teacksaw fit sideways without hitting the door in the open position.

Yes, that Packout cabinet has been a game changer for me. Used that as my base (on the caster platform), added a 2 and 3 drawer unit on top. I never unpack the stack anymore.

Total guess- but if you lift this fully loaded from a central point on top it may cause the drawers to sag and potentially open.

It was to facilitate being able to latch the half width cases on top. From what I’ve seen others do, you can buy the OG handle as a spare part and it will install fine on the 2.0 drawer units.

Interesting, although the medium 2.0 tool boxes have both a top handle and the clip for the half size cases.

I would love to see a 4 wheel dolly, even the tstak has one. A dolly with nothing but drawers and a work top would be awesome.

I believe ToolGuyd showed the Facom version of this a while back. I started looking around for it but couldn’t find it anywhere. I did find that there are some decent prices on Toughsystem stacks with the separate cart (not the big case with the wheels, the one more like a dolly) in Europe.

The Facom 3 drawer version was pictured and it looks like a cross between Toughsystem 1.0 and 2.0 . It has a handle on top.

Every post about new portable tool storage release turns discussion about what would be the ideal portable tool set.
For me, that would be similar to the Dewalt stack in the picture, but the drawers are in the bottom, and the the wheels are a separate (but docking) hand truck. Here why:
– Drawers: hand tools. Combined, they are the heaviest. These are the tools that you want to have with you everyday. This is why they go in the bottom.
– Box with lid: power/big tools. They have the volume and the best “packing density”, more than “box with front door”. You can have different power tools, or different box, depended on the project.
– Separate hand truck to more additional boxes or material. Also, hand truck + ladder combo would be nice.
The key differentiate is the drawers are in the bottom and are more “permanent”, while the big boxes on top are more “as needed”. I don’t really get why most pictures of the “stack” show the drawers on top. From my experience, the drawers are always end up heavier than other boxes.

I think Ridgid has a possibility of making an ideal tool box for me since they updated their system to have removable handle and wheels. If they announce a set of drawers that can attach to the wheels and be bottom of a stack with the tool chest on top I’ll be a happy person. Not having to clumsily set aside the organizer and a drawer box to get to my sawzall or high torque would be nice.

I have been wishing for drawers from Ridgid ever since drawers are a thing. I like their size/quality/price. Milwaukee type is overkill, for me. Right now i am on Husky Connect line.

Dang, I just bought the Ridgid boxes last year, but this is more of what I need.
I hate the unstacking and then restacking of my boxes!
Drawers are the answer unless one has really heavy stuff.
