I just bought another rack system, and about a minute after my purchase the price is back up to $96.
Also, just a heads up, the Extra Large ToughSystem boxes are $35.
Jared
Perhaps dynamic pricing? I see $96.28 when I follow the link.
Doug
Same. But thank you, Stuart, for posting this. I added one to my cart and will watch the price. Often they drop back down within a few days.
Chris
Wouldn’t doing something like letting it sit in your cart tell Amazon to not drop the price?
Stuart
The Amazon algorithm sees all, cares not about human rationale.
Gordon
Looking at the price charts, it seems like amazon was chasing a 3rd party price. Once that price jumped back up, so did Amazon.

1 inch square tubing is cheaper. Just saying. Welded and mounted 3 of these from square tube in my van. Held 9 boxes.
Nathan
right but did you then buy the dewalt toughsystem arms to attach to the tubes. how much were all of them.
I think at 66 dollars this is a great buy. and 96 dollars I agree with you on the roll your own model.
eitherway great find.

I made one from 1 inch tubing and the Dewalt arms alone cost me over $100. This was before Dewalt offered the rack.

The standard arms will not hold up in a vehicle. The van racking system is much heavier!

Just curious if you have personal experience with this style of arm in a vehicle or trailer? I have several of these that I was going to end up using in my trailer and I’ve read many reviews of guys that have done the same without problems. I don’t want to install them in my trailer and have the arms break. I have the same style arms on my ToughSystem carrier and it’s loaded with pretty heavy boxes while in the trailer and it’s never broken any of the arms. I gathered that the van racking was stronger, but more for safety in case of an accident, I’m not concerned with that as mine will be in the trailer.

A 24’ stick of 1” tubing is $20-$30 depending on gauge. The brackets are about $20 a set, and the racking system comes with 5 sets. Then you have to cut, weld, drill TONS of holes, clean, and paint it. Then fabricate brackets to mount it to the wall. So you’d be into it for about $150 in materials, paint, electricity, and consumables. Then you have hours of time to build it. I don’t see the cost or time savings of building this yourself.

I got this for my birthday a few weeks back. Pretty sweet system!
Chris
You know what would go great on that??
Dewalt’s new 2.0 stereo ??
