KC Tool kicked off their first series of “Dark Grey Friday” tool deals – limited time deals that will lead up to their big Black Friday sales event in a couple of weeks.
Some of these deals seem really good and are worth at least a quick look.
This first round of deals went live on 11/3 (sorry – I’m a little late to the party), and end on 11/9.

Here are the 7 deals:
Wera 9pc Color-Coded SAE Ball Hex L-Key Set – $25.99 ($41+ at Amazon)
Stahlwille 8pc Metric Double Ended Wrench Set – $54.99 SOLD OUT
Gedore 1/2″ Torque Wrench – $229.99
NWS 12″ Locking Pliers – $33.99
Felo 6pc Screwdriver Set with Cutter – $13.99
Heyco 77pc Metric Expert Tool Set – $949.99
KC Tool Hoodie Sweatshirt – $31.99

The Felo 6pc screwdriver set looks to be an especially good deal – thank you to Robert for the heads-up!
This set features Felo’s No. 9 screwdrivers, with a solid impact resistant core covered with a soft grip material. (These are NOT Ergonics.)
You get 5 sizes of screwdrivers:
900 Slotted: 3.0 x 80, 4.0 x 100, 5.5 x 125mm
902 Phillips: #1 x 80, #2 x 100mm

Plus an OLFA cutter.
It looks like the same screwdriver set retails separately for $36.96, and a similar set that swaps the Phillips #1 for a square #2 driver is $42.25.
The 6pc bundle set is on sale for $13.99, which seems like a really good price.

These No 9 screwdrivers have a solid core.
If you’re more into Felo’s squishy-handle Ergonic screwdrivers, you might want to wait to see what KC Tool does for Black Friday, but I doubt we’ll see a similar set for anywhere close to the same price.
KC Tool has free shipping on $75+ orders.

I have ordered from KC Tool many times over the past few years – especially their holiday tool deals and sales – and have never been disappointed.

Seeing the Olfa cutter in one of the sets reminded me that Amazon has an excellent deal right now on an Olfa saw. Normally the 25mm saw blade is about $15 by itself but here you get a handle and the blade for the same price.

I did not know that existed and now need it in my life.
I have a couple of those olfa knives with the standard blades and had no idea they made a saw blade for them.
Adam
same. I know a trim carpenter that will love this as a Xmas gift. Thanks MM
fred
I have 3 small Silky saws that they call “Mini-Mini” with tooth geometries optimized for 1)Wood. 2) Metal and 3) Plastics. I use the wood cutting saw (162-15) quite a bit.
Jared
I did not know that existed!
I have a Pocket Boy with an extra fine blade I think is awesome – but never knew there was a size smaller-still. Thanks for the heads up!
Koko The Talking Ape
Those Mini Mini’s look great, but I can only find one or two retailers, and they aren’t in Silky’s website. Are they being discontinued?
MM
I don’t know the full story but I did notice that Silky’s website has had a huge overhaul fairly recently and there are a few products I remember they had in the past which I do not see on their current website or PDF catalog. It’s quite possible they have discontinued things. One example I can recall is the Carpentry variant of the Pocketboy, part no. 340-13-C. There is one up on Ebay right now and I know it used to be on their website catalog 6 months ago but there’s no sign of it now. I remember it well because it appeared to have identical specifications to the Extra-fine Pocketboy 130 and I couldn’t figure out what was different about it other than the color of the handle. I even Emailed Silky to ask what the difference between the two was and I never received a reply.
Jared
The Olfa saw is new to me too! That seems pretty neat.
I currently keep a FastCap Pocket Pull Saw in my mobile tool bag. It’s sharp, light and cuts fast (for the size), but it’s very flexible – which is sometimes great and sometimes not.
Stuart
That looks to be a good deal. I checked and you’re right – $15.66 for just the blade vs $15.70 for blade and handle.
OLFA has a lot of options once you start looking closer.

I really don’t understand how SAE hex key sets like this can leave out the 7/64″ and 9/64″ – that’s the standard sizes for #6 and #8 socket-head screws. Not uncommon sized screws…
Frampton
I’ve noticed this, as well. Very odd.
Koko The Talking Ape
I was disappointed that the Felo set had two #2 Phillips drivers, just with different lengths, and that’s what the description at KC Tools says. But the photo shows one PH driver being more slender than the other. Could the description be wrong?
Koko The Talking Ape
Well we’ll find out soon enough! I ordered the set. Thanks Stuart!
Stuart
KC Tool confirmed the image is correct – you get 3 slotted and 2 Phillips (#1, #2), and no square.
Koko The Talking Ape
Cool, that’s what I wanted. And I see you’ve corrected your post too. Thanks!
Stuart
Thanks also for pointing it out! I didn’t realize that the description from the page didn’t match the image. (These things happen a lot over the holiday season.)

Stuart-
…lead up to their big Black Friday sales ***even*** in a couple of weeks
Stuart
Thank you! *fixed*

$13.99 – plus $13.19 to ship. Nope.
Koko The Talking Ape
Yep, but as Stuart points out, the set regularly goes for $40 without the Olfa knife. So $27 including shipping is still a good price. (And my shipping was about $10.)
Of course, you can get sets for a few dollars cheaper from Husky, Kobalt, Craftsman, or even DeWalt and Milwaukee. But for me at least, the promise of quality is worth the (literally) $4 more.
Nathan
Had I seen this sooner I’d have said get the stahwhile metric wrenches
Nice to have a reasonable set of so slip metric sizes without carrying so many wrenches.
Mike (that one)
I was going to pick up the hex key set but shipping was nearly$11 killing the impluse buy momentum.
Stuart
That’s why it’s good to build up a wishlist ahead of these deals, until you have enough for free shipping. I still need to do that ahead of Thanksgiving weekend.
fred
KCTool had done as much as 20% off for BF/CM
I guess we’ll see what they offer this year
Rich
I would if they had TOOLGUYD4LIFE
just sayin’
haha. I’ll buy again but I like muh codes.
Stuart
The coupon wouldn’t have applied to promo-priced items anyway.
BigTimeTommy
One of the main reasons I’ve only made a couple purchases from KC Tool.
Adam
The Metric set is on Tool of the Day, which is probably going to push me to buy both, and pad the order for free shipping.
But dang it, I got a drawer full of mismatched hex keys in a drawer plus one complete Tekton 25253 set, but these are so nice looking.
Now I’ve completed the debate in my head, I’ve talked myself out of it. 18 very nice looking color coded for $56, or 30 in every size possible for $14 or $30 (from whomever Tekton sources from).

I was ready to buy the screwdriver set until I saw the shipping cost. Too bad.
