Back in November, I discovered a great deal price on Fein’s newest MultiMaster kit. This was a special edition version of the Fein FMM 350Q Top Kit oscillating multi-tool, which means it’s bundled with a broader selection of attachments and starter accessories.
This kit also came with a Fein-branded Systainer tool box, which stacks with Festool and Tanos T-Loc Systainer cases.

The sale price of $269 was good enough for me to say something as strongly worded as Just Buy It in the deal post headline.
Well, thanks to Diplomatic Immunity, Sam, and John (seriously, thanks guys!), I now know of an even better deal.
Right now, while supplies last, CPO is offering a $100 discount off the $299 regular price, making the final price $199 plus tax. Shipping is free.
There was no way to predict this, so don’t feel bad if you already bought one at the higher-but-still-great deal price.
My guess is that CPO has a bunch of these kits that they had hoped to sell off during the holiday season. Regardless as to why, $199 is a fantastic price on this kit.
(Deal ends 1/18/16, unless supplies run out sooner.)

If I didn’t already own the previous generation Fein MultiMaster oscillating tool, and have a test unit of this model, I would absolutely be tempted to buy one at this price. Heck, I still might, in order to get the spare tool, the accessory and attachment selection, the dust collection adapter, and the Systainer.
BUT, there are also new tools that will be coming down the pipeline this year, thanks to a new interface.
You can read more about Bosch and Fein’s new Starlock oscillating multi-tool interface, and here’s some more info about the Starlock interface and new Starlock-compatible tools that will be coming out.
According to a Fein Starlock compatibility page (link), the new Fein FMM 350 QSL MultiMaster will be out starting on April 2016. I believe I read that it will have a new and improved blade and attachment quick release mechanism.
Current Fein MultiMaster and MultiTalent tools, with the MultiTalent being the previous 250Q edition of the MultiMaster, that are built through March 2016, will be compatible with Starlock and Starlock Plus oscillating multi-tool interfaces – the same as with tools built starting in April 2016.
In other words, this kit should be compatible with all of the same accessories as the next generation of the same tool. The only differences will be the updated quick release blade change mechanism, and I’m guessing the next-gen kit will come with Starlock accessories.
So, you could: 1) buy this kit now, and save $100 off the full price of the kit, 2) wait to see what the price will be on this or a similar kit when the new model is released, 3) wait to see what Bosch’s new oscillating multi-tools (OMTs) will offer, 4) look at other OMT brands, or 5) do nothing because you’re happy with your OMT or don’t need one.

FYI – some Home Depot stores are clearing out the 350Q Start package. I picked one up for $120.00 yesterday in Orange, CT.
But at 199 this Top kit is definitely tempting

I just checked the web site and the price is $299. Currently Amazon is $30 cheaper.

Damn, I want one for 199 bucks!
Then I read this:
“PO Boxes, APO/FPO, and International Addresses:
We do not ship to APO/FPO, US Territories, Canada or other countries at this time.
For security purposes, CPO DOES NOT ship to P.O. Boxes.
”
CPO are an internet trader and they don’t ship international…..weird.

Looks like the discount code stopped working, or am I mistaken?
Stuart
Well, that sucks.
Looks like they changed the expiration date and took advantage of their “Subject to change without notice.” clause,
They could/should have just listed it as out of stock if they oversold their couponable quantities.
Mike
Amazing how they got back in stock with them the instant the deal expired…
(Put myself on the email notification and sure enough, midnight on the 18th I got notified that they were back in stock…)
