Fiskars is coming out with new multi-purpose snips, the ShopBoss, which is designed to combine several frequently used tools into a single handy device. It features a serrated blade, built-in notch for wire cutting and stripping, twine cutter, and a built-in bottle opener. (Because everyone needs shop scissors with a built-in bottle opener.)
The ShopBoss has a spring-action mechanism and a titanium blade coating for better wear resistance. The ShopBoss is bunded with a multi-purpose sheath that has a belt clip, deburring file, tape cutter and pencil holder.

Fiskars makes decent scissors, but I won’t rush out to buy one of these ShopBoss snips anytime soon. I eagerly purchased a pair of Fiskars Cuts + More shears when they first came out, and after trying them out for 5 minutes I promptly sent them back for a refund. I liked the idea of those scissors, but an issue with the scissor’s “power notch” led to mixed but mostly poor results.
The ShopBoss Hardware Snip does look rugged and handy despite having a few extra features I don’t see a need for. Fiskars says that you can use it to cut a wide variety of materials, including aluminum siding, roof flashing, screen, binding straps, light sheet metal, and 18-gauge wire.
The ShopBoss is a Walmart exclusive and will be available on November 25th, 2011.

Speaking of tools with bottle openers… Why do paint can openers have bottle openers? I’ve always thought that beer makes painting more tolerable but I’m hoping there’s a legit reason for it like perhaps solvent and thinner used to come in bottles. Any idea?
I’m passing on these scissors. If normal scissors can’t cut whatever I’m trying to cut I have other tools that are better suited for the job.

@ jeff_williams: have you ever been around a paint crew on a commercial job, especially towards the end of the week? Not to say that any of them carry openers like you mention, but they can be a rowdy bunch!

I just bought one of these and I am planning on returning it. The thumb lock is awkward, and the holster is poorly designed. A tug on the handles, and the holster pops off my belt.
