Deal of the Day: Garage Storage Products (3/28/17)

New Age Hanging Ceiling Storage Rack

Over at Home Depot, today’s Special Buy Deal of the Day features 21 garage storage and organizational products, such as the ceiling storage rack shown above.

There are some interesting selections in the list, and the New Age Bold 3 storage cabinet sets caught my attention until I realized these were their thinner and lighter duty models.

I’ve got my eye on the Pro 3 series wall cabinets, and hope they’ll be on sale soon. Individual models are also on sale, not as part of this deal of the day. There were some sets on sale last November, so maybe I can hold off until the next holiday season.

I’ll be heading out soon to measure some ceiling spaces in the garage; the ceiling rack looks to be a good buy and has lots of very positive reviews. I’ve got one space above the electrical sub-panel where something like this could work. If not for the panel, I would be putting a large floor-standing shelving rack in the space, similar to the one made from 2x4s that came down when we started the remodel.

The deal ends at 4am ET 3/29/17.

The gray one is already sold out apparently.

I have to measure my garage too. Hope the white one doesn’t sell out too quick. I think I could use that for some wood storage. sadly can’t put it over the garage door opener.

Darn, white is sold out too. Amazon has grey for $119 and 1-2 month ETA.

Guess I’ll wait for the next sale or keep an eye for good pricing. $120 isn’t too far off from HD’s price of $109.

Since Home Depot is sold out of those garage units, I have 4 of these HyLoft units and I have been very happy with their performance. I have 2 setup individually, and the other 2 combined for a large 45×90 unit.

They go together easily and seem very durable. In fact, I moved 2 of them from my previous house and they reinstalled perfectly.

2 of them together might be slightly smaller than the Home Depot model listed, but I will note that the Depot model says that it can hold 600lbs while each 45×45 unit states only 250lbs.

      White also.

Shipping looks to be exorbitantly high – the white one says $64 and change, as I change from a 3rd party seller to Sears.com as the seller with a $99.99 price.

I can’t get a quote because Sears says my account is locked and I need a new password, and that I need to click on “forgot your password,” but it’s not functioning properly.

I’ll take that as a sign to not entertain the idea of buying it from Sears.

I’ve eye’d these for a few years but measuring the garage in the new house – I can’t use it effectively. so I think I might build my own. using that angle strap for garage door openers – and some ply I guess.

Sorry this is a little late, but be careful, Stuart: The location above your electrical sub-panel is off limits. Article 110.26 of the NEC spells it out. Of course, if you can always cheat and just remove the shelf if the local electrical inspector happens to be stopping by…

    Best of luck!
