This Streamlight Stylus Pro is by far my most well-used LED flashlight. I carry one around with me nearly every day, and after 30 months of use, it’s still going strong!
The Stylus Pro is also one of my favorite items to gift to people. Most of my friends and family members don’t carry flashlight around with them, and the ones that do only have those cheap plastic disposable ones. I’ve made it my mission to properly equip them with a good penlight.

Overrated/Underrated: Mini Maglite 2AA?
Stuart
The Stylus Pro is thinner and pocket-friendly, the size of a large pen. I didn’t test it with fresh batteries, but it’s slightly dimmer compared to a 3AA Maglite LED.
For carrying around, I recommend the Stylus Pro over the Maglite. For glove box or toolbox storage, a mini Maglite 2AA or 3AA LED flashlight might be a better choice.
That said, I’ve purchased many Maglites as gifts as well. Last year and the year before, they were on sale for maybe $12-15 at Lowes on Black Friday and afterwards. They’re not on sale now, but might be again before Christmas.

Just an FYI: When I worked at Batteries Plus for a while, we saw a few Streamlight Styli come in that had their AAAA batteries corroded in place. Of course, this can happen with any flash, so what I now do is rub a thin film of silicone grease on the inside of the body tube (and the O-ring of course). If the batteries corrode they’re much easier to get out.

The Stylus Pro’s work with AAA’s. I wouldn’t go near AAAA flashlights. Yes, they’re thinner, but it’s hard to source AAAA cells at a moment’s notice. I haven’t seen battery leakage in either of my Stylus Pro’s, but the silicone grease suggestion is one I’ll keep in mind – thanks!
