Grobet-Plastic-Tweezers

Tweezers are one of those tools that you don’t realize you need until you NEED one. While these Grobet plastic tweezers won’t replace anyone’s Swiss-made precision-tipped steel tweezers, they’re great to use in a pinch and are essentially disposable.

Plastic tweezers are also good to use when steel tweezers might damage a delicate part, or when costlier steel tweezers are at risk of damage or corrosion.

For less than $2 each, we bought a few of these plastic tweezers to keep in various tool and hobby boxes.

One application for which this type of plastic tweezers is a must, is to manipulate small coin-type batteries without shorting the terminals.

At home, I typically use tweezers when holding and positioning small parts to be glued, when retrieving small parts from caustic chemicals (rust remover, for example), and for general handling of small or delicate parts.

I clicked on the Amazon link, but that link states the item is currently unavailable though. This is as of 5/8/2012 though.

It looks like they stopped carrying these tweezers. There are other brands available via Amazon sold via 3rd parties, and other styles via other distributors.

McMaster has a better selection but also charges shipping.
