Hanes has come out with new USA-made cotton face masks.
Politics aside, a lot of businesses and venues require the public to wear reusable or disposable face mask to reduce the spread of COVID-19 during this pandemic. Those are the guidelines we must abide by at this time.

There are many brands making masks in the USA, and we’ve tried a couple. Some are better than others.
What caught my attention about these Hanes masks is that 1) they’re very inexpensive, and 2) they’re made in the USA by Hanes.
We’re having a blast over here, thinking about how hilarious it is to consider whether these are made out of Hanes underwear material. Triple-layered underwear material? Maybe they’re made from their t-shirt material? Something else?
Either way, you can buy a 5-pack for $12.96, which comes out to $2.59 per mask. Shipping is a flat $5, or free on orders over $49.
These masks have earloops on the side, and are universal one-size-fits-all sized. They are built with 3 layers of fabric, and are washable.
If you’re only buying this, the order total comes to $18 including shipping, plus tax. That’s still less than $4 per mask, which is a good price for a USA-made 3-layer cotton mask.

Update: It turns out these masks are not made in the United States as advertised on Zoro, but made in Vietnam.
One of the types of masks we’ve been wearing too closely resembles the underwear that company also makes. I’m really glad that isn’t true with these Hanes!! For the price, I’ll be ordering a pack.
Alternately, you can order a pack of 50 disposable flat medical-style face masks for $32 plus shipping.

It would be cool if they had a fly, where you could insert a straw, for instance. But the visuals might be too much for polite company.
Stuart
Ha! Maybe that’ll be a special edition.
Kevin Franklin
That is hilarious!
audiovideofreak
I second that motion if they’re listening. LOL!
Scotty.
Wow, tighty whities for your face….
Stop the world, I want to get off ?
Don Thompson
Do NOT stick your tongue out wearing this mask if it has a fly!
William
Good on them. Wish I could buy a quality reusable mask, I have a giant head, tried a few on the market, and the “Universal” size is was too small.
I live and work in NYC, so I’m forced to wear a mask for most of the day.

Do you think some kind of ‘ear-savers’ would help?:

Bill
I like the ear-savers too. For me it makes this style of mask a little more bearable for extended wearing periods.
Stuart
Quite a few mask-makers have different sizes, such as Rickshaw Bags (https://www.rickshawbags.com/). Their masks are well-made, but a bit pricey. There’s no support in the nose, and I find I have to re-shape the masks after every wash.
Steven
If you wear glasses I saw a video where someone used a very small rubber band to hold a button on to the glasses arms, the looped ear loops on the buttons. Might work for you.
Pastor Dan
I saw that one too. Looked simple and perhaps ingenious. I haven’t yet tried it. Been reusing single-use disposable masks. Until they begin to smell like yesterday’s lunch.
Ron
William, here’s a ” no-sew cut your own” tee shirt model that you can easily customize. https://youtu.be/jrOZbjDErNQ

Just so long as they aren’t made from recycled materials…
Aflores
We got a shipment in of those and I refuse to use them…lol. They literally look like baby diapers. I so wanted to rub a mustard streak across the middle to see if anyone would still talk to me. Lol. Needless to say I went out and purchased my own.

Hanes Underwater material?
😀
Stuart
Sorry, I have no idea where that came from. Part of me doesn’t want to correct it, it’s an amusing typo.
David Zeller
You should leave it with strikeout, then the correction afterwords.
Bobby
Looks better than the cheap surgical masks that break. No state requirement here, but many businesses require them .
Stuart
I ultimately just fixed it. I usually reserve strikeouts for price changes or tongue-in-cheek corrections, and it didn’t seem fitting here, lest anyone think it was intentional.
Surprised
I just bought a box of 10 masks and when I got it home, I was surprised to read on the back that they are in fact NOT made in the USA.
Stuart
Thanks!
I just checked mine that came in, and it’s the same – made in Vietnam. That sucks. They say:
But I had no reason to doubt that with these being newly launched the COO would actually be different.
My package says they’re made in Vietnam.
I guess it was too good to be true, I have been trying some other masks that are made in the USA and they’re quite a bit pricier.
Mike
Wish they had a logo or slogan like “Hanes for your face”. Definitely would buy
audiovideofreak
Or “Facing”this Head-on with Hanes!
Jim Felt
I’d buy these IF they were available in black. I know most of these brands offer black briefs so why not for this product as well?
Greg
You could always dye them black yourself, RIT liquid dyes are pretty common. Shouldn’t be hard to find.

StringKing Cloth Face Masks – black, made in the USA.
Koko The Talking Ape
Those look good, but they are around $7 each, about twice as much as the Hanes.
Gino
Soon Pampers and huggies will jump on the facemask manufacturing bandwagon. Mark my words!!!
Sam Greenfield
I wish there was some sort of mask with a transparent front. I hate people not being able to see my facial expressions.
Stuart
You could always opt for a clear plastic face shield.
Jim Felt
That’s an amazing business opportunity you’ve just described!
Or the opposite by wearing a “Bane” – like mask? (Which I’ve seen).
audiovideofreak
Yeah…I ordered one. LOL.
James Davis
I just bought 15 of these Hanes masks from Northern Safety. I work as a truck driver for a regional health system, and we must wear masks daily. For me, that’s Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. I have 12 N95 masks, and numerous procedure masks at home, and my wife has sewn a handful as well. Thanks, Stuart, for the post. I just hope they work well! At least they were manufactured in USA.
Joseph
I’ve been issuing masks to coworkers as “face panties” anyway. Now I’m not even being facetious..
Stuart
One brand we’ve tried seems to have patterned the shape after underwear, with the jersey knit material not helping with visualizations the least bit.
Ken
Thank all the stars in the skies that this idiotic craze is only in certain parts of the country! The only time masks should be worn is when you are ill and have to go outside your house. Other than that, never.
ToolGuyDan
Over half of people who have it don’t know they have it (yet); they’re either entirely asymptomatic or have a low-grade response to the infection.
Think of it this way: can I sleep with your virgin daughter, who’s on birth control, without a condom? I’m not wearing the face-covering to protect me. I’m wearing it to protect you. Please do me the same courtesy.
Koko The Talking Ape
Yeah, it’s not idiotic, and you should wear one if you aren’t ill.
As ToolGuyDan says, you might be infected and not know it. You might NEVER know it; some people recover without ever having severe symptoms. Meanwhile, you have spread the disease to grocery workers, elderly parents, postal workers, neighbors, coworkers, children. And even if they don’t get sick, THEY can spread the disease to parents, etc. Is that selfish and lazy of you? You decide. 🙂
But sure, if you don’t ever leave the house, you don’t have to wear a mask.
Taras
Can you order them with a skid mark?
Flotsam
New item at Harbor Freight https://www.harborfreight.com/merchandising-promotions/new/3-ply-disposable-face-masks-10-pack-57593.html
10 pack of 3 ply masks for $5.99 ( befor 20 % coupon) . Seems like a timely item to stock and pretty reasonable price.
Mallory
These are 100% not made in the USA. They haven’t manufactured in the United States for several years.
Also, they are the underwear material.
David
Zoro says… “Country of Origin (subject to change): United States”

This is the most wholesome and good humored comment section I have ever seen. Thanks for the good spirits!
Keep it covered till it’s squashed!
