Harper Hand Truck Recall

If you own a Harper hand truck like the ones shown above, and purchased it from Home Depot between Sept. 2008 and March 2009, or Sam’s Club between Jan. 1993 and Jan. 2002, be aware that it may have been recalled.

These hand trucks have been recalled due to a tire overinflation hazard, which can cause the tires to explode and propel broken wheel hub fragments. Four of the models included in the recall (JEDTK1935P, 51TK19, BKTAK19, PGCSK19BLK) have 3-piece 4-bolt metal wheels, and one model (K52K16) has a 1-piece composite wheel.

19 injuries have been reported, including broken bones, loss of sight in one eye, contusions and lacerations.

Detailed information about how to determine if your Harper hand truck is included in the recall is located on this CPSC recall page. If your hand truck has been recalled, stop using it and contact Harper Trucks for a free repair kit. 292,000 hand trucks are affected by this recall.
