Although it looks more like some kind of chair (at least to me), this is Hazet’s 197-3 magnetic cup, a small parts bowl with a magnetic foot. You can attach it to tool carts, workshop panels, and other steel and ferromagnetic surfaces.
The neat thing about its design is that the Hazet parts cup can be placed flat on a horizontal surface, or vertically, such as on the side of a steel tool box.

It measures 6″ across and has a plastic bowl. There are grooves and ridges along the inner surface, which I would guess are there to make it easier to pick up small fasteners, as greasy parts can sometimes stick to smooth surfaces. Or maybe they’re to help fasteners from rolling out when it’s placed on a vertical surface.

If blue’s not your thing, OEMTools has something that looks exactly the same, but in green and at lower pricing. They call theirs a magnetic nut cup.

(Update: Sorry, Amazon keeps changing the price of the 2-pack. At time of this posting, they were $17 for one, $20 for two. Now, they’re $10 for one, and $25 for two.)
Hilton thankfully
Thanks, the groovy green two pack is $14.93 on Amazon.
Steve the gullable
It’s only $14.93 until you try to buy it and then it is $30.91. Weird, but true.

I liked the Hazet tray so much I ended up buying another and throwing away my metal trays. The cup design is great because it works on a vertical surface.
Not being metal, iron filings don’t stick to the tray itself, like what happens with metal trays. This makes it a lot easier to keep clean and helps to keep all the grinding dust off the threads of nuts and bolts you throw in there.
Nathan
nice I like it.
Chris
Did the price for the 2 pack go up that fast already?
Mine shows $30.61 plus tax.
bwh
Thats what I see as well. $30.61
Hilton thankfully
Wow, that’s crazy. Amazon trickery behind the scenes.
Mike
I had the 2-pack in my shopping cart @ $15. They got moved to Saved For Later at the new $30 price.
Nathan
Autozone has them for 18 – for one. I think I only need one.
Jim Felt
I’d buy the Hazet regardless or in spite of Amazon’s algorithm price changing of the knock offs.
Mostly because for this difference in price I want to reward the innovator not the plagiarizer.
Plus I like KC tool for their extensive inventory and free thank you surprises.
Nathan
Hazet is not the inventor I suspect. I mean if they are great but I don’t believe so.
Nathan
too soon.
I suspect like many other things Hazet sells – and due to the shear number of other counterparts of the same thing. with the same ridges, shape and size. I suspect the original part maker did this some 15+ years ago and it’s not patentable nor tradmarkable.
I might be wrong, if I am I would agree some to your sentiment.

I have the Hazet, and it’s great!
The magnet is so strong the screws literally fly towards it. Even when placed verically when I put a screw on the plastic cup, it flies to the magnet.
The plastic is strong and doesn’t seem like it will break.
Overall, you get very high quality for the price.
Mike
Lisle offers a model that seems identical to the Hazet, just in red.
It is model #67300 , and available for $12-20 online. I have several and they work very well.
Peter
2 pack is $21.98 for me.
Ken
Yep, or you can go the cheap route at HF and get a 6 inch magnetic dish for $3.99 or a 9½ in X 6 in for $9.99.
Jeff
Which is an entirely different item.
Hilton
Not sure who watches this thread but the OEM 2-pack is currently $14.98
