Have a similar wood top chest to the one for sale. Cheap drawer slides and thin sheet metal. But i paid about 300 bucks for it . I keep it lightly loaded and it looks and works great. I would suggest anyone check that husky one out as it looks better than my waterloo

that ladder looks like a great deal

the shop vac option at lowes looks to be a better buy

the PC 18 ga nailer looks like a good buy – I need one so that might happen.

The husky cordless ratchet is interesting but if you shop the site right now you can get the milwaukee M12 with a battery for 99 dollars also. Now if you have a charger for M12 that’s great. I don’t have red team battery system – but I’ve considered it a few times.

If you are looking to “buy in” to the M12 Milwaukee line for the ratchet, this set may be a good option: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M12-12-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Combo-Kit-5-Tool-with-Two1-5Ah-Batteries-Charger-and-Tool-Bag-2498-25/304708058

It has the ratchet, drill/driver, impact driver, sawzall, flashlight, charger and two 1.5ah batteries for only $200.

I got that set previously (it has been on sale for $200 before), and the fuel version of the ratchet separately; both at 3/8″ size. The fuel ratchet is more powerful, but has a bigger head on it. I find myself using the non-fuel version about 95% of the time; I have been using it a bunch in the last month to tear down some motorcycles.

Only heard awful things from PC nailers. Lowe’s has a hitachi 18ga for $39 on BF.. just saying. I got lucky and picked up the 18ga nailer + compressor hitachi set at HD last month for 169, was pretty happy with that purchase.

I can’t find the Gorilla Ladders 22′ multi-position ladder deal. The link takes you to the normal price which is $209. Was that a leftover from last year?

Prices are valid 11/22/18 thru 11/28/18.

It’s also possible that there will be a different SKU that isn’t up on Home Depot right now. The model number matches what’s shown on Gorilla Ladders’ site, but the flyer image shows wheels now attached.

I’m still working on matching up links, I’ll keep looking for the exact ladder listing.

I really hope it’s the MPX22 as that’s the one pictured and it’s been $100 in the past. I have been waiting on it (I heard it was $100 on Father’s day) since mid/late summer.

The Milwaukee 2401-20 M12 screwdriver, with 1.5ah battery, charger, and red zipper case will be $59 at HD on black friday. It is currently on HD’s website at $99, and the tool-only going for $75. It’s already on the floor at my HD, but the sign with the $59 price was behind the display. I didn’t see it in the scans above.

I was talking with an associate about the dewalt toughcase set, since I saw them on the floor. they had 10 of them, so I would bet that every HD got 10 for BF stock. They didn’t have a set price on them yesterday, but were scanning individually at $35, $45, and $65 for a total of $145.

Also, a ton of these prices are already active in the stores, or at least out on display. For example, the 104 and 142 shockwave sets, bosch space bit set for $10, 12″ husky tool bag for $5, all of the diabolo blades, the holedozer set, $10 extractor set, and the 2 torpedo levels were all out on the floor last night and signed at the prices in those scans when I stopped at my local HD. I remember those specifically because they were all things I was going to get, but I was going to hang on to see if they changed price on black friday. Now I know they will not.

The $29 142 piece shockwave bit set looks even better than the 100 piece ‘deal of the day’ shockwave set from October 15th that was $25 too.

Good to know all that. Those were the things I was most interested in too ? big bit set, spade set, holesaw set, the diablo circ and sawzall blades. I might get the Lenox holesaw set Lowe’s is offering though. Bothers me Milwaukee is a Hong Kong company now.. also sort of bothers me that Lenox is SB&D now… but, yeah, it’s a tough world to be a brand loyalist in.

Any ideas why a lot of the Husky tools and chests are upwards of 35% more expensive this year than last holiday season? Mechanics sets and tool chests all with a decent price jump. Was hoping to get the 52” all black tool chest for close to the price last season ($598). Surprised its up to $800 now.
For the most part all other major brands look priced similar to last year.

New tariffs. If the storage combos are redesigned to go around the tariffs, they’re larger and heavier, and cost more. If they’re not redesigned, the tariffs would drive the pricing of the older models even higher.

One of the criteria for tariff exemption is that the construction be from a certain thickness sheet metal.

The subsidy rate was determined to be 96% from a lot of suppliers. I don’t know what other tariffs apply, but it’s clear that brands aren’t going to be able to sell the same products for double the money. So, they redesigned the products to get around the tariffs. The redesigns inevitably drive prices up, but at least you’re getting more for the money.

The red 36in husky tool chest was $348 for black Friday last year. I know because I missed out on buying it due to work. I saw this years in store this week and I would say it is 100% the same except for price.

I’m sorry, but that is incorrect. Last year’s deal was on model H36CH6-H36TR6 . This year’s deal is on H36Ch6TR6RXD .

Using the model number, I found a listing on Home Depot Canada, but in black, instead of red. The 2017 deal was on an 18″ deep combo.

This year’s combo is 24.5″ deep.

You can confirm this by looking at the storage capacity specs.

      2017 deal: 21,704 cubic inches
      2018 deal: 30,833 cubic inches

That’s why the current combo’s product description says the storage capacity is “42% more than 18 in. depth units.”

You are correct. I looked at the pictures I took and the tag did state the cubic measurements. In person i did not realize it was that much deeper. However the steel felt flimsy. Maybe that was due to increasing the size. I was looking to buy one but I can’t justify the price of these toolboxes

deals? i think the gorilla ladder is a good deal as well as the dealt 2 pc brushless combo for 149.

even if they are not the premium tools they will get lots of work done at a low price. not sure the premium models are worth twice as much.

the tool storage stacks from ridgid, dewalt and milwaukee are always interesting. ithe dewalt is the obvious choice over the ridgid if only for the fact that dewalt is heavier duty and has so many more options for adding to the system. the milwaukee may be nicer but it surely isn’t twice as nice to match the double in price.

for large metal tool storage? i was in the store last week and most it didn’t seem as nice or well made as the hf stuff that is priced similar.

For the dewalt boxes, the side handles break off the large box when loaded at 60 lbs. or more. I thought the boxes looked durable and was really disappointed when I found this out.

I haven’t been very impressed the Dewalt boxes and have had very good results with the Ridgid boxes for a couple years. I just wish the Ridgid would improve the selection. I have toyed with switching to another system but really like the durability of the Ridgid

I was really looking forward to this ad. Those pre-emptive cease and desist orders that HD supposedly sent to the usuaI Black Friday sites just built up my anticipation. Now I don’t know if it is because I don’t need anything,or the deals aren’t that great, but I can’t help but feel disappointed.

Actually great to see HD smarten up and not prevent showing their ad online and prevent discussion and comparison shopping.

Nothing particularly new or stellar in the advert that looks like a must have or run out the door on BF morning.

Too invested in powertools already to add a new brand or go for a kit with bonus items.

Would like a >24 ft extension ladder with discount. Missed the lowes deal the orher week, because rhey did not have the ladder I wanted in store ( with factory leveling legs)

Might pick up another ridgid tool box stack. I already picked up a few of the ridgid organizer cases. Maybe a few bit boxes and a tape measure.

Somewhat off-topic, but anyone got opinions on that Milwaukee hole saw set? I’ve seen them in-store, along with comparable kits from Diablo and Bosch recently…all comparably priced (I think the Diablos are already $40, the Milwaukee right now are about $60 but falling to $40 next week.

It seems like the last time these were discussed was about a year ago, when Stuart had good things to say about both Milwaukee and Diablo…not sure how much USA-made matters for something that’s naturally got a limited lifespan, but all else being equal that would tip things toward Milwaukee for me.

It’s hard to tell without a closer look at the contents.

Last year I bought a bunch of Milwaukee hole saw sets. There was a special that had more pieces than another non-special-buy set that happened to be on sale at a distributor, but fewer hole saw cups.

      https://toolguyd.com/black-friday-2017-hole-saw-deals/

      A 16pc set had 9 sizes. A 15pc set had 11 sizes.

In the 16pc special buy, the hex key, pilot drills, and arbor were all counted separately. In the 15pc regular set, the arbors pre-loaded with drill bits count as one piece each, not two.

There are also differences in the arbors.

If you’re going to compare sets or deals, just keep in mind to look at the sizes.

This year’s Diablo deal costs more, but has one additional size being a carbide-toothed cup.

The M12 drill also seems to be liked for working in tight spaces.

Thank you for the reply. I will have to look at his tools in the garage to see if he’s using a specific brand. If not, I’ll consider the Milwaukee kit as an option. Thank you so much!

You’re welcome, good luck! You could also drop hints, just to be sure.

The Husky 268pc mechanics tool set: $129 link takes to the Home Depot $149.99. Is it the current price?

Yes. Black Friday deals are not in effect yet, at least not on most items.

Do you have a link for the hole dozer set? I can’t seem to find it on h.d.

Not yet. Some special buys are purposely hidden from public view until the sale starts.

Is the rigid table saw a good deal? The reviews are good, but I have no idea of price history. Any thoughts on this table saw or any other deals for BF would be appreciated.

If it helps, here’s a look at other Black Friday table saw deals: https://toolguyd.com/black-friday-2018-table-saw-deals/

The Ridgid saws are typically stocked and discounted this time of year every year, and it’s usually the lowest pricing they’ll ever offer.

I bought those Ray-o-Vac batteries last year on Black Friday and I’ll have to say they are the absolute worst batteries I’ve ever bought. They last less than a month in my z-wave door locks and I even put them in one of my remote controls and it almost immediately said “low battery”.

I’ve had pretty good luck with Rayovac batteries, and tend to buy a bulk pack or two every year when the price drops Black Friday weekend.

Maybe you got a bad batch?

I make sure to buy the USA-made ones. A few years ago, not all of them were. https://toolguyd.com/rayovac-battery-deal-with-a-surprising-twist/

That said, I’ve been trying to move to NiMH batteries for a lot of things now. Or lithium cells for certain things.

The Rigid link looks to be a different set than the one on Black Friday. Saw vs wrench. Also 5x vs brushless. I want the saw! Need the Sale price!

Which one are you talking about? Most links were created using the model numbers in the sales flyer.

https://toolguyd.com/home-depot/ridgid-18v-gen5x-5pc-combo-kit Says $299 here, shows up $369 on Home Depot. Is it cuz it doesn’t start yet?

Correct. As mentioned above, the sale pricing starts 11/22.

That other kit you linked to is a good deal, but it’s not the same product.

Here’s a link to the Gorilla ladder. Apparently, it includes a wheel kit which makes it an even better deal-

Does the 12v powered ratchet imply a new line of tools coming from Husky??? Why?

This one? (Link added for others, since I removed a couple of image to allow for greater mobile readability.)

I think it’s a standalone product. The battery appears to be built-in, and there has been no official mention or teaser about a new product family.
