As expected, their are a lot of cordless power tool combo kits and bonus deals, many of which give you something extra on top of seasonal special buys and without any change in price. In other words, free bonus tools.

The 7.25 and 8.0 are really calling me it Im trying to resist
Stuart
Add it to your cart, then walk away to give yourself time to think about it. If you’re still unsure and it’s still in stock by a certain time, go for it. If you find it had sold out, it wasn’t meant to be. =)
A W
The $40 socket sets look to have sold out, unless I’m just missing them as a scroll through.
Also, there’s a typo (extra $100 dollars) in this sentence:
“Milwaukee M18 brushless drill/driver with 15pc drill bit set: $199 (same price as the drill-only special buy!)”
Thanks for doing these, Stuart. I think by just checking here and staying focused on tools and things I know that I need (vs browsing a bunch of ad flyers) you’re actually saving me money this year!
Stuart
Sorry! Thanks – fixed.
It can be worth it to sort through the sales flyers. I just try to pick the most interesting ones to write about, or most important ones that readers might forget about and not want to miss.
This Home Depot deal, for instance – I’d kick myself if I forgot to check and the ONE thing on my shopping list was featured in their sale.
It’s hard – brands and retailers throw all these deals at customers at once, and the worst part is that a lot of these deals really are “now or never” or “now or wait 6-12 months.”
Cyber Monday is kind of what Black Friday used to be – unadvertised doorbusters and the like.
But I do agree about saving money by not looking. I ended up placing several orders for tools at discounted prices, or items on my wishlist that I could now buy with freebies.
MFC
Bought stuff. Will return if my common sense returns to me.
Stuart
That’s actually a good approach.
Think too much about something and deals could sell out, making the decision for you. This happened to me earlier today and on Friday as well. Sometimes that does work out for the better.
It’s also important to keep a clear head.
I wanted to buy a kamado-style grill, and while there are Cyber Monday sales, a quick search shows that there was better prices last spring. Since it’s a want, not a need, I am okay waiting a few more months for a hopefully better deal.

I’ve been looking for the 56 piece Milwaukee 3/8″ SAE + metric socket set to go on sale. It’s usually around ~170 so $100 is a great price. It’s been this low before, but I’ve not seen that deal in a long time. I don’t _need_ the screwdrivers it comes with but I’m not going to say no.
Tom D
I feel the standalone kits are being “remainder” out almost – the packout versions will be the focus going foward.
Stuart
I bought one too!
I kicked myself a little that the 1/4″ sets sold out so fast. I had a chance, but by the time I realized I wanted that deal too, it sold out.
But, Ohio Power Tool still has deal pricing – $60 for SAE+metric set – and a new $25 off $100+ flash sale.

Bought the Milwaukee M12 bandsaw kit for my dad’s Xmas gift. Should let him retire his hacksaw.

Any recommendation on a starter kit from Milwaukee, Makita or Bosch that has at least a drill, circular saw and an impact driver (and maybe a recip/sawzall)? Think a gift for someone that needs to build a chicken coop and fix things around the house but doesn’t need things like branded lights or drill bits. Bonus if if its lighter (eg M12 Fuel). Thanks.
Stuart
I’d look at the Dewalt Atomic starter + bonus kit, here: https://toolguyd.com/home-depot-free-bonus-cordless-power-tool-deals-holiday-2020/
Or the Makita 2-tool + circular saw combo if that’s still an option.
Ridgid offers great bang for the buck: https://toolguyd.com/home-depot-pro-black-friday-2020-tool-deals/#ridgid
Makita 5pc combo kit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L8O0CRC/?tag=toolguyd-20
Makita 8pc combo kit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZGBCJY7/?tag=toolguyd-20
Makita 6pc combo kit is $299 at Acme Tools – this is probably going to the BEST $299 option right now. Brushless motor tech, but should be good.
Or put together a 12V kit:
https://www.amazon.com/Makita-CT232-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-2-Pc/dp/B07QB9M38M/?tag=toolguyd-20
https://www.amazon.com/Makita-SH02R1-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Circular/dp/B019WA7146/?tag=toolguyd-20
There are drill + circular saw combos out there, and other combos that don’t have flashlights, but you won’t necessarily get the best bang for the buck with them.
Tom D
Honestly if I were starting someone out who is NOT a toolhound I’d be tempted to give them the Ridgid – simply because that type of person isn’t going to be black friday shopping, and if they DO add a tool it’s nice that the normal prices are pretty cheap.
Assuming they go to Home Depot normally; if they’re a fan of another store (or it’s closer) I’d tend to lean toward something carried by that retailer.
Brian Aeschlimann
These multi brand deals of the day are unusual, typically its all red, yellow, etc. I like it because then you don’t have to wait for the one red day every couple of weeks.
Tom Smith
This looks like a good deal on dewalt’s 12v laser with a tape measure. $349
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-12-Volt-MAX-Li-Ion-100-ft-Green-Self-Leveling-3-Beam-360-Degree-Laser-Level-with-Bonus-9-ft-x-1-2-in-Tape-Measure-DW089LG-QUW3028/313506199
RusstyB
Also – which I think is the best Makita deal going – the Makita brushless 36V (18 X2) 7-1/4” circular saw (rear handle or standard) for $249.
It comes with a dual charger and 4(!) 5.0 batteries.
Home Depot has it still in stock.
Dave
HD has a deal on M12 heated gear that includes free battery with gear purchase. The really great part is that it discounts the price of gear and loads the free battery as it’s own SKU on the purchase receipt (instead of providing a “free” battery)—-so that you can return/cancel the battery order and keep the discount on the gear.
Eric
The M12 rocket light with the 4ah battery, is showing up as $129 (instead of $169) for me.
Stuart
Thanks – I see $129 now as well. Weird.
Updated the pricing in the post.
Tom D
It’s a special buy – maybe they overlap.
Tom D
Oh I see – the tool alone is $129 so the deal is free battery.
Stuart
At the time of my posting, the published price was $169. But now, it’s shown to be $129.
I can’t explain it.
Clay
In for a Surge, thanks! Tired of waiting for yellow to come out with one. My first Red power tool! Worried it may lead to something…
NoahG
Sweet Surge M12 deal, finally!
Clay
Mine arrived already! Impressed that this kit came with a 17″ bag and not some dinky one. Nice strap loops and interior pockets too.
Heather
Thank you for doing these, I’ve definitely spent a mint- went in for the buy four M18 Fuel tools and get two free the other day, and the 1/2 impact with one key today. I’ve used Dewalt at work before but wanted the 1/2 impact, so when my batteries started to go I decided to not replace them. Hope this investment pays off at work (industrial maintenance tech).
Heather Roberts
Clarification- I wanted the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2 impact
