Deal Analysis
Let’s break things down by what you get.
Dewalt 20V Max Atomic 1/2″ Impact Wrench – DCF921
- 300 ft-lbs max fastening torque
- 450 ft-lbs max breakaway torque
- 4 speed settings and Precision Wrench control mode to prevent over-tightening and fastener run-ff
- Price: $219 for DCF921B tool-only (at Home Depot)
- Kit Price: $319 for the DCF921E1 PowerStack kit (at Home Depot and other authorized dealers)
So that’s $219 for just the impact wrench, or $319 for the impact wrench, compact PowerStack battery, charger, and tool bag.
Dewalt 20V Max Atomic 3/8″ Ratchet – DCF513
- 70 ft-lbs max torque
- 250 RPM
- Price: $199 for the DCF513B tool-only (at Home Depot)
At the time of this posting. Home Depot has a promo on the Atomic ratchet, where you buy the tool-only and get a free PowerStack starter kit with battery and charger.
Based on that, I’d say that the next-best pricing estimate would be $418 if one were to buy the Atomic series ratchet and PowerStack starter kit ($199) and the tool-only impact wrench ($219). If you go this path, the charger looks to be the only difference.

Or, consider that the impact wrench kit alone – without the ratchet – is $319 right now. Or you can save $20 and get the promo combo kit with the impact wrench and ratchet.
The “950+ value if purchased separately” claim doesn’t quite reflect what you’d actually pay for the same tools; I’d say that $418 is a bit closer.
With that in mind, I think this is an unbeatable deal if you want both the impact wrench and ratchet.
If you want just the 1/2″ impact wrench, you save $20 on this combo kit right now, compared to the price of the comparable impact wrench kit, and get a bonus 3/8″ ratchet too.
If you want just the ratchet, take a look at this other promo, which gets you essentially a complete kit with tool, PowerStack battery, and charger, for $199.
Impact wrenches and cordless ratchets make a great automotive fastening tool duo, but the same tools can also be used for construction, assembly, and general purpose tasks and applications.
At the time of this posting this deal looks to be a Home Depot exclusive.
Dewalt isn’t going to put together a brand new cordless power tool combo kit just for Labor Day. I think we’ll see this promo extended into the holiday shopping season as well.
Home Depot has more Labor Day 2023 tool deals – check them out here:

Update: It looks like my local Home Depot had this deal a few weeks ago in-store, but sold out at the time. It’s still available online right now. (This photo was taken at around 3pm on a Saturday, which might explain but not excuse the state of the Dewalt promo display.)
Rob
Sold out at my local HD.
Stuart
It’s not in stock anywhere near me either; order it online with free delivery?
Adam
Once an item goes on clearance in store, it will never show stock for that store. The only way to verify is to have them enter it into their fancy in-store phone, not the website. Your store very well may have some left. Or use brickseek for a potential idea of stores with it left (better than nothing, but not 100%)
The kit is currently $239 in store.

I don’t recall seeing this in-store anywhere, and it barely exists online.
I checked photos of the promo displays from early August, and there were “buy this, get that” PowerStack deals (such as the ratchet deal that’s still available online), and empty boxes underneath a pricing label for this same combo kit.
So it looks like my store had it, but sold out at the $299 price.

Adam is right. I 100% have seen them in my store, in the same endcap as the “free” PowerStack starter kit and applicable bare tools. And while HD’s website does not show any at my store, Brickseek shows 3 in stock on clearance.
Rob
They had marked out the selection and labeled it sold out on the card at my store.
I don’t think even HD knows what they truly have in inventory. The APP will say one thing and when I get an associate to help me find it, their scan tool will say something completely different.

I tried to use this link to check my zip code (96782) and wanted me to create an account. Sorry no thanks.

Not online. Selected Dewalt. And even Labor Day event items. Not seeing combo… maybe too early.
Stuart
This post is about the specific Dewalt impact and ratchet combo kit as shown and discussed.
The web store listing says it’s available online with free home delivery.
Are you talking about something else?

Ok. My BAD. I clicked the bottom link, not the one “of the deal”… and searched HoDep site for Dewalt Combo, and sale event and that set didn’t come up (their site, their search fail).
Your first link is GOOD.
and a thank you for last deals.. I got a two pack of DeWalt 5Ah flatpacks for under $300…
Stuart
I thought that might be the case, and saw it as a sign I should add another one. (Sorry and thank you!) The second deal link was added at the bottom for clarity.

We need a roofing combo here in FL. Well maybe an automotive one too.

A quick reminder that you can always buy the kit and turn around and sell a tool from it you don’t need on eBay/elsewhere. With taking good pictures, I’ve always had luck selling power tools like this and recouping a good amount of the cost of the kit. Just check what they are going for beforehand as sometimes it’s not what you expect for a tool-only for the item in the kit you want to sell.

Not sure if the 20v ratchet has the same body as the 12v, but I love the 12v ratchet. So much more ergonomic compared to the Milwaukee m12 ratchets.
One feature the Dewalt has as well – the ratchet direction “lever” on the backside of the head is so much larger than the m12 , makes it super easy to change directions, even with gloves on.

Tons here in TX. Got it for $240 on clearance in the sale display locker. Great deal.
Tim
Just paid 240$ here in NM as well. Store in Los Lunas had quite a few left.
Todd
Thanks for the tip, just bought at my Home Depot. Price was dropped to $239.00

The impact wrench is sweet with its multiple settings and very compact. The ratchet is more compact then it looks alsoThe battery is also very compact as is the charger. I am impressed and gonna buy another as a gift for employees. Might take the T-Stack batteries out for myself.
