Today’s Special Buy of the Day at Home Depot features two cordless tool kits: one from Dewalt, and one from Milwaukee. Neither of these kits feature top of the line brushless tools, but both heavily discounted combos are still worth a look.
The Dewalt DCK520D2 combo includes:
- DCD780 20-Volt MAX 1/2 in. drill/driver
- DCS381 20-Volt MAX reciprocating saw
- DCF885 20-Volt MAX 1/4 in. impact driver
- DCS393 20-Volt MAX 6-1/2 in. circular saw
- DCL040 LED worklight
- (2) 2.0Ah battery packs
- Standard fast charger
- Carrying bag
And the two bonus tools:
- DCG412B – 7000 rpm cutoff tool
- DCR006 – Bluetooth speaker
Home Depot lists this combo for $600, and has previously sold it for as little as $299 without the bonus tools, during the 2015 holiday season. Right now the cheapest I can find this kit online is $399, and that’s without the bonus tools. So if you jump on this deal today you’re ahead by a cutoff tool and Bluetooth radio.
Also, keep in mind that the circular and reciprocating saws are Dewalt’s standard ones, not their more premium models.
Price: $399

The Milwaukee 2696-24 kit includes:
- 2607-20 1/2 in. hammer drill/driver
- 2620-20 SAWZALL reciprocating saw with starter blade
- 2650-20 1/4 in hex impact driver
- 2735-20 work light
- M18 Li-ion battery charger
- (2) M18 XC high capacity batteries (3.0Ah)
- Contractor bag
A quick search online reveals the best price to be $429, so at $299 this combo looks to be a very good deal.
Price: $299
Neither of these deals are available in stores, but shipping is free, or you can have them shipped to a local store for pickup if more convenient. Remember these prices are only good today only, Monday April 18, 2016, and as supplies last.

On the Dewalt deal, are you sure those are not the 1.5 amp batteries? The picture on the home depot website has the batteries solid black, your picture shows the yellow 2 amp batteries. I know home depot sometimes changes kits around slightly on these rare combo deals.
Stuart
Unfortunately, none of us can be sure.
But… in both Home Depot images of the combo kits, they’re shown with yellow-top battery packs, which have always been 2.0Ah and higher capacity.
Home Depot reuses photos from the individual tools, and also aggregates reviews.
Since there’s no explicit mention of battery capacity, I’d go by the photos of the combos. By the time someone buys the combo and confirms what batteries it comes with, it’ll be too late to take advantage of the deal.
Mr. Creek
Follow up comment: reviewed the pictures on home depot website, the picture that has all the tools grouped shows the 2 amp batteries. But the picture(s) [drill and light] of individual tools shows the 1.5 amp batteries. Either way a great deal. Just wondering.

I couldn’t find this combo on the Dewalt site, so I have to go by the information I can scrounge.
A few of the other sites that sell this set, DCK520D2, say they have 2Ah batteries including Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Dewalt-20-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Batteries/dp/B018T2U4JM
In the link from the ToolGuyd article, Stuart thinks that are probably 2.0Ah.
I’d go by what’s pictured in the combo picture, they are just reusing the individual tool shots from other listings.

Some on is flipping these on Ebay already for $479 I won’t post the link because he doesn’t deserve free advertising. The thing I don’t get is how is he making any money on them at $479? When you factor in sales tax unless he’s in a state with out it Ebay, Paypal fees, and offering free shipping how is he making any money? He makes what 20 or 30 bucks off of it? It seems like more work that its worth and risk of not selling.
James R.
Maybe he’s a HD employee, taking advantage of his employee discount? That would neutralize tax (in most states) and even scrap a little bit more off.
Mr. Creek
Home depot does not give employee discounts even to Sr. Level executives.
James R.
Good to know that. I was completely unaware. I was thinking about picking up a seasonal part-time job with HD this summer…that might change my mind! 🙂
Jason
I have flipped a few tools on Ebay recently and your looking at 9% on the sale price plus shipping 2.5% for paypal and something that sized traveling a decent distance is probably 15 bucks in shipping even more with a signature or insurance on the package. I’ll be honest I looked into doing it with this deal but I don’t see any profit to be worth to be honest.

It could be money laundering.
Jason
Could be or using it for CC fraud.

You ever see those post on craigslist, “paying cash for gift cards” 75¢ on the dollar. That’s one way these secondary market sellers do it. Wait for awesome deals, like this. Take the thousands of dollars of discounted gift cards and buy several combo kits (limit 5 per customer). Take the Dewalt deal for example, they spend $400 in gift cards that they payed $300 for. Wait a couple weeks. Sell it $50 cheaper than in-store price, plus no sales tax. Sell that kit for $550. $250 profit X 5 kits = $1250 in profits. Or more if they take the time to sell it broken up.
