Home Depot has officially kicked off their FREE cordless power tool and battery offer, which has become a popular holiday season mainstay.
The promotion has been expanded for the Black Friday 2021 shopping season, as there are now different tiers where you can select 1, 2, or 3 free gift items depending on your kit or starter kit purchase.
This is always one of the biggest Black Friday and Holiday promotions of the season, as it lets you select and save money on what you want. You can essentially create your own promo combo kit, with some limits based on the free gift selection, rather than trying to fit one of the many standard-SKU combo kits.
This promo tends to feature more premium tools, compared to the very many cordless power tool combo kits that pop up for Black Friday sales every year.
To take advantage of these deals, select your “free gift with purchase” item before you add the item to your cart. The two offers where you have to select 2 or 3 free tools will have different combinations to choose from, although they don’t seem to be in stock online at the moment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Many of these types of “buy this” cordless power tool combo kits and starter sets usually sell out early every year, but they’re often replenished later in the season, and this cycle sometimes repeats a couple of times. The same is often true for the more popular free gift selections. Some of these deals are available online, others are only available online for in-store pickup. Take advantage of this if you can.
If you get buyer’s remorse, you can usually return your purchase for a full refund. If an offer sells out, you might be out of luck and options.

Buy Dewalt 20V Max FlexVolt Advantage Combo, Get 2 Free Tools
Buy Dewalt 20V Max & FlexVolt Combo Kit, Get 3 Free Tools
Home Depot has been greatly leveraging their exclusive Dewalt FlexVolt and FlexVolt Advantage availability with these combo kits, which will differentiate their offerings from other retailers and competitive “free gift with purchase” promos.
The free tool and battery selection is also really good, almost exclusively featuring brushless 20V Max and FlexVolt Advantage tools.
Milwaukee Black Friday 2021 M18 Bonus Tool Offer
Buy Milwaukee M18 2x 5Ah Battery & Charger, Get 1 Free Tool
Buy Milwaukee 18 Fuel Hammer Drill & Impact Combo, Get 1 Free Tool
Milwaukee’s free tool selection also mainly features M18 Fuel brushless power tools. I’d go for any of the free tool selections here, except for the M18 oscillating multi-tool. If you want that oscillating multi-tool, it’s available as a “special buy” with 1.5Ah battery and charger for $99.
The Milwaukee deal is a really good value, depending on your selection.
For instance, this special M18 Fuel SURGE driver bundle, available as a selectable gift and in a similar pre-selected promotional combo, is a fantastic buy.
The M18 Surge kit, which typically comes with 2x 5Ah batteries and a charger, is regularly priced at $329. Here, you get an almost identical kit, but with tool bag instead of a plastic case, for $199.
Makita Black Friday 2021 18V Bonus Tool Offer
Buy Makita 18V Brushless Drill & Impact Combo, Get 1 Free Tool
Buy Makita 18V 2x 4Ah Battery and Charger Kit, Get 1 Free Tool
Buy Makita 18V X2 Rear-Handle Saw Kit, Get 1 Free Tool
Buy Makita 18V Premium Hammer Drill & Impact Combo, Get 2 Free Tools
A reader recently asked if Amazon’s discounted price on the Makita 18V premium brushless combo kit is a good deal. It is, but I think it’s better to spend full price and get free tools that are definitely worth the price difference.

What is the difference between Flexvolt and Flexvolt Advantage? I am lost with Dewalt these days!
Stuart
FlexVolt: 60V Max tools are NOT compatible with 20V Max batteries. FlexVolt batteries ARE compatible with 20V Max and 60V Max tools.
FlexVolt Advantage: 20V Max tools that receive a power/performance boost when paired with a FlexVolt battery. So, these tools can be powered by a 20V Max battery or FlexVolt battery for more oomph.
Here’s a little more on it: https://toolguyd.com/dewalt-flexvolt-advantage-cordless-power-tools-092020/

It’s funny – any time I mention that the DeWalt battery lineup is confusing I get a bunch of people telling me how wrong I am.
Mark
Now we just need m12 deals!
Stuart
What are you looking for? There are bound to be a bunch of specific promos.
Jeremiah Ducate
M12 fuel omt, for me. Maybe m12 surge.
Stuart
I believe there’s a special buy on the M12 Fuel kit. I’ll post details shortly.
IronWood
M12 die grinder deals would be awesome, but I’m not holding my breath.
Jake
Yes, I would like to see an m12 “free tool” kit. Like two batteries and charger.
Joe
Are you anticipating any deals on dewalt bench top planers?
The DW735x recently dropped to $580 on Amazon but I don’t know if that’s as low as it will go.
Thanks
Stuart
I don’t see why not, barring supply shortages.
It was a deal last year: https://toolguyd.com/dewalt-dw735x-planer-deals-early-black-friday-2020/ and for Prime Day a few months ago.
I’ll keep an eye out for it again. It’s impossible to be certain, but I think that a repeat promo is more probable than not.
Joe
Thanks Stuart
CoBlue
It was $500 in late spring. I think it even went a bit cheaper than that on Prime Day.
Tony
I’m disappointed in the Milwaukee Fuel 18v deals this year at Home Depot. I was hoping for a bundle bigger than 3 tools – similar to prior years. I was looking for something similar to the $599 deal that had 4 tools, 2 batteries, and 2 additional tool. This is normally the time to get into a particular platform – which I’ve been waiting for – but not sure this is the year for the same value as years past.
Would an assumption that this is the best of holiday sales for Milwaukee Fuel 18v be accurate?
Stuart
This could be a result of shipping delays or other issues.
Right now, it’s November 1st. There aren’t many “gift center” deals, but the promos are just starting. Independent retailers might have different M18 Fuel combos, or they could be saving supplies for online-only Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals.
“Is this the best of holiday sales for Milwaukee M18 Fuel?” In my opinion, there’s going to be more to come.
Ben
Stuart, have you heard about any deals upcoming for the M18 Brad Nailer?
Stuart
No, but I’ll keep my eyes out for it.
If there’s a promo, it might be on Black Friday or Cyber Monday as a deal of the day.

Anybody have any thoughts on that little DeWalt router that’s offered in that deal, the DCW600B?
I have to say, I was skeptical of cordless sanders, but using one changed my mind. It’s super freeing not to have to deal with a cord. (When I get to adding a dust collection my feelings might change.) I wonder if I’ll feel the same way about cordless routers.
William Ng
I have been using mine for a year and it works quite well, paired with the 4ah slim battery it runs for a long time and has more power than my older makita corded router. I don’t like the depth adjust system, it is prone for accidental misalignment in use. (the depth gauge moves not the actual body)
The makita dept adjust is much easier to use, but dewalt has better microadjustment when you avoid spinning the zero-ing gauge.
At the current price it is totally worth it. I rarely touch my corded makita except for plunge cuts
Koko The Talking Ape
Thanks William! So you can nudge the depth adjustment accidentally? If you just bump it or something?
Tool Junkie
I have 7 routers. Two of them are cordless routers. The Makita & the Milwaukee. I have the corded Makita one, too. Of all my routers, the two cordless ones get by far the most use.
I used to have a Bosch Colt and a Cordless Rigid; however, I sold the Bosch & gave away the Rigid, in favor of the Makita & Milwaukee.
The cordless ones have better power than the corded one and they are better set up as a kit, with dust collection and other accessories added in.
I was thinking about getting the Dewalt one, too.
Jim Felt
Stuart.
Has anyone had a price “deal”* on the Milwaukee 18V portable air compressor recently? Or ever?
*other then modest percentage discounts?
Thanks.
Stuart
Nothing that I can can recall, but I’ll keep an eye out for it. That’s not the type of tool that will be a special buy, but retailer coupon promos might apply.
Correction: It’s $319 right now. That’s still what, almost 10% off? Shipping fees and lower sales volume will limit how aggressively they can price this.
Tim E.
Interesting that Ryobi doesn’t seem to be participating this year, maybe their sales have been strong enough over the year for the staying-at-home crowd that they don’t have the inventory or need to do a buy something get something deal…
Looks like they did bring back their metal 4.75 gal cordless shop vac again, and with a brush included now and a revamped extendable wand that looks interesting. Pricing is higher than what I recall from last year though.
Stuart
Ryobi has other deals, such as aggressive pricing on 18V HP kits. My store also has a very strong Ryobi presence. This promo typically features Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, and Ridgid. There aren’t any major Ridgid deals yet this year.
There could also be supply constraints.

The battery deal (2x 4.0A-hr for $80) is pretty good – in the past, the lowest I can recall is $100 for two. If I didn’t have enough Ryobi batteries already, I’d get it.
fred
I was waiting on the M12 Milwaukee cable stapler (2448-20) as a gift for an electrician. I almost bought him the Dewalt 20V Kit but he’s not into that battery platform.

Guess I may need to wait on his birthday – as it seems Milwaukee has set a 2022 launch date.
King duck
Wait what I did not hear about this don’t care about the price I’m buying one day one.
fred
I spotted it here:
Stuart
The ETA is “first half of 2022,” and so it’s way out there.
fred
Thanks
His birthday is in May – so I have a chance that it might be released in time for that gift-giving.
King duck
Are they going to do the M18 12.0 promo last year where you could get a 12.0 and and a 8.0 for $199 or some other larger tools hopefully a hole Haag this year would be awesome I really want to go cordless on that but they keep changing designs and are still super expensive
Stuart
I haven’t seen any indication of this yet. Some promos return in following years, but this doesn’t always happen.
Chris
Any suggestions on the best-value way to obtain two FlexVolt 9Ah or 12Ah batteries? I’m in need of a matching pair, wondering what you think the best time to buy would be.
Stuart
Not off the top of my mind, I’ll have to give it some thought. I have only seen promos for FlexVolt 6Ah 2-packs so far.
Big Richard
I don’t know that there will be many deals on them this year, they seem to be in low stock everywhere. The 12Ah have been out of stock seemingly everywhere for some time now.
But, Farm and Fleet is usually one of the cheaper places to buy the 9Ah 2pks, they are currently $259.

MM
I am interested in the same. I have no interest in the 6ah Flexvolt batts, but I would be interested in 9’s or anything larger. I wouldn’t minding picking up a tool or two at the same time either.
In the past I’ve noticed that some of the best deals on the larger Flexvolt tools tend to come in a combo deal where you get a tool, batteries, and one or more freebies. I wonder if there might be any good bundles available when the new 15ah Flexvolt batts hit the market? I would think that those new batteries ought to coincide with some new tools as well.
Dan
Last year I got a 2 pack of the 9ah batteries as a deal from Acme for right around $200.
BradWH
Looks like the website link for home depot isnt showing the standard 2 free tool selection for the 18v premium makita kit
Stuart
I don’t know what’s going on – Dewalt’s 3-tool deal and Makita’s 2-tool deal haven’t been working.
Munklepunk
I am really hoping for sale on the Makita 40v 10″ miter saw. But I think there is a better chance I will hook up with Jessica Alba.
Stacey Jones
Think there will be a deal on the Makita 36v Track Saw Kit XPS01PTJ?
Stuart
There usually is, but I’m not seeing any right now.
Maybe it’s because they have the XGT 36V saw coming out (https://toolguyd.com/makita-xgt-cordless-track-saw/), or maybe there are supply constraints.
Home Depot has a couple of different bundles with this saw, but none are in stock. They also say that only 7 are available for delivery, whereas quantities for other promos are in the hundreds – at the least.
Philip patten
Does anyone know if the 106pc Milwaukee packout tool kit is going to be on sale. Last year I saw it for 200$ is going to be that price.
Stuart
Milwaukee 106pc 3/8″ ratchet and socket set via Home Depot
I don’t have any knowledge of any promos yet. They’ve built up 500+ pieces of inventory for online-only fulfilment. I’ve got my eyes on it. I’d say the chances are better than 50:50, but far from guaranteed.
Koko The Talking Ape
The DeWalt starter kit with one free tool is sold out at a lot of my local HDs (in Denver.) They’re advising you call ahead and not rely on their website, which is a good idea, though more work for their employees.
jdk
DeWalt starter kit is sold out in my state. Tried to get Acme to price match and they laughed at me knowing it was no longer available.
Do these come back at all during the holiday sales or did I totally miss this one?
Stuart
Sometimes they come back in stock.
Sometimes they’re in stock online but not in stores.
There’s nothing really to do but check back.
Some of the starter kit or combo kits sell out fast every year.
Shrek
So I guess I’m the cheap guy, I dont see anything about Ryobi in your posts. I have quite a few of the 18V and 40V tools and they have not disappointed…just wondering your thoughts on that line of tools
Stuart
There are lots of Ryobi deals here – https://toolguyd.com/home-depot-black-friday-2021-tool-deals/ .
Ryobi is decent for the money. I really like the new HP tools, and they have some specialty tools that you can’t find at other brands. They’re not ideal for more regular or demanding use though, and the battery form factor limits how compact their tools can be engineered.
Kevin
So I ordered the DeWalt Flexvolt combo kit with an extra battery, reciprocating saw, and oscillating multitool thrown in. I didn’t read the description particularly closely because I was trying to sort through all the options on the website (including figuring out which were actually in stock). I’ve since gone back and read through more carefully and realized that the description and photo don’t match–the photo shows a circular saw included with an impact driver and a drill, but the description is for a drill, impact wrench, and driver. The circular saw isn’t just pictured in the overview, either; there’s also a detail photo showing the saw to be the 60V brushless model with a 2,465W output.
I’m guessing that the text is probably more likely to be right then the images, but as I’m waiting for the kit to arrive, I’m not sure.
Anyone order and receive the Flexvolt kit? Which were the three primary tools?
I can’t find any discussion online about the mismatch, so I’m wondering if people haven’t received their orders yet or I’m just not looking in the right places.
Stuart
It looks like the base kit is model DCK399P1T1, which comes with the FlexVolt saw and 20V Max drill and impact driver.
As bad as it sounds, there are many instances of disagreement between product images and the descriptions this time of year.
Kevin
Indeed. The box finally showed up, and the 60v circular saw was included along with a drill and the impact driver.
