Over at Home Depot, their PRO Black Friday 2017 Savings event kicked off today. The deals are valid in-store and online, while supplies last, effective thru 11/29/2017.
Some of the deals are repeated from last year, others are new for this year. Some of the deals are more noteworthy than others, but I’ll try to discuss as many as possible.

There’s a flood of deals on the page that’s supposed to be limited to the Pro Black Friday deals, and it’s hard to sort through, but I’ve added it anyways, just below. Keep in mind that not all of them might be on the sales floor at your local store. There are 624 products listed in that sales event page, but maybe only 2 dozen Pro Black Friday-specific displays at my local store.
There’s a Bosch 12-piece Daredevil spade bit set on sale for $10. It’s technically a 10-piece set, but they threw in 2 additional blades for free, so you get 12 blades for $10.
Home Depot also has a “gift center” set on sale now – an 18pc set including case, for $20. This set doesn’t have a case, but unless you need the 6 other sizes, this set’s the better deal.
I bought 4 sets, because spade bits are great for testing drills. I’m sure I already knew this at one point, but the packages surprised me by saying the bits are impact-rated. Even better.

Price: $10
Dewalt’s DW745 portable table saw is on sale for $299. Big whoop. The same saw is also on sale for $299 at Amazon right now.
Oh, this is the DW745S, which comes with a folding stand. That definitely changes things.
Price: $299
A couple of readers wrote in about this new Makita XT706 18V 7-tool cordless power tool combo kit that was heavily promoted via Makita newsletter this morning. It’s now $399, with “$100 savings from $499.”
*Rolls eyes.* This set was designed around the $399 price point. Why do I think this? Because it hasn’t been on the market for very long, there are no reviews anywhere, and because that “special buy” pricing is what a lot of tool brands do this time of year.
Skeptical, I started looking at the tools you get. The biggest thing I could criticize is the non-LED worklight. But the other tools? They look to be regular Makita products, not specially slimmed-down entry-level tools. Well, except for maybe the drill and impact, but Makita’s seasonal tools have been fairly good in recent years.
This definitely DOES look to be a good buy, if you’ve been meaning to pick up a combo kit and have had your eye on Makita’s 18V lineup.
It’s priced at $399 at Home Depot, Amazon, and likely elsewhere.

There’s a different (newer?) tile saw on sale this year, model R4021. I’m even more tempted than I was last year, but I don’t have any tiling projects coming up.
Price: $99
Ridgid OF60150HA 6 Gallon Pancake-Style Air Compressor: $99
I thought this was a new model for this year, but apparently it came out last year for the 2016 PRO Black Friday sales event. *shrug* Still looks good on paper, and in the images it looks to have a nice and narrow footprint.
Quick Specs:
- 150 PSI
- 12 Amps
- Air Delivery: 3.5 SCFM at 40 PSI, 2.6 SCFM at 90 PSI
- 6 Gallons air capacity
- Oil-Free
- 2 universal quick couplers accept 1/4″ automotive and industrial fittings
Milwaukee’s Packout 3-tool box combo stack is back to being on sale for $199. My local store had 1 out on display when I checked mid-day.
Price: $199
This Ridgid R350RHF round head framing nailer is on sale again, for $169.
This Milwaukee Shockwave 23pc RedHelix drill bit set is on sale for $18. It’s a good deal for decent drill bits. They’re not my first choice for use with a drill, but I’ve bought a couple of sets these past few months for tool testing, and they haven’t let me down.
Price: $17.50
There’s MORE to come, I just wanted to make sure everyone was made aware of the sales event. I have some photos to add, and additional tools to list.
The deals are available in-store and online. There weren’t many of the Dewalt table saws at my location, and only one Milwaukee Packout stack that I can see. If your store shows little inventory of something you want, you might want to order online for in-store pickup, or save yourself the trip and opt for free delivery.
Smaller things, like the Bosch bit set, ship free with a $45+ order.
Again, this is the link they set up for this sales event, but there are other “gift center” seasonal deals included. I’ll try to get the rest of the Pro deals up tonight so that you don’t have to sort through several hundred deals to find the ones that are being emphasized this week.
Part II
They had this Diablo 2-for-1 Ultra Finish 60T 7-1/4″ blade pack. I believe it said they’re made in Italy. I can check later, I bought a pack. It seemed like too good of a deal to resist! I tend to like using fine-finish blades, and the deal convinced me to give this blade a try.
Price: $20
The same blade is $20 at Amazon for 1, assuming D0760R and D0760X blades are the same but with different packaging.
This Dewalt 25′ and 16′ tape measure 2-pack is $20. It looks to have the same SKU as the single tape pack, which means I’d be reluctant to buy it online except for in-store pickup.
Price: $20
This Diablo 9pc bi-metal and carbide-tipped hole saw set is back, and for $40. I’d consider it more of a “try Diablo” set, and it comes with a quick-looking arbor.
Price: $40
This entry-level Dewalt 20V Max drill and impact driver combo kit (DCK240C2) is on sale for $149. It’s the same price at Amazon.
There’s a Dewalt DW1KIT18PP 6 gallon air compressor and brad nailer starter kit, for $179. They had quite a few of these sets at my local store.
Price: $179
A Ridgid 16 gallon 6.5HP Peak wet/dry vac is on sale for $99. This one’s “built for the pro,” and features large cart-style wheels.
Be sure to check the model number and features if you buy in store! My local HD had the wrong vacs out on display in place of this one.
Price: $99
There were a few Milwaukee deals, but only one stood out as being a good deal – this M12 Hackzall kit. While at the same $99 deal price it’s been at before, it always seems like a good value.
Price: $99
There’s a new version of the Ridgid Super Clamp. It’s $99 online, but my local store had $89 signs.
Price: $89-99
Here’s a look a the new model next to one from a few years ago. The new one looks good. If I didn’t already have a great Rockwell Jawhorse test sample that’s been serving me well, I would definitely have taken one of these Ridgid Super Clamps home.
The Jawhorse is currently on sale at Amazon for $102 with free shipping.
I’m really wondering if the Ridgid Super Clamp is easier to set up and fold down than the Jawhorse. The new Super Clamp looks to have cam-action leg locks, at least in the rear, while the Jawhorse has a large knob that I sometimes wish was easier to tighten down.
This Porter Cable 16 gauge straight finish nailer is on sale for $119. It’s the same price at Amazon. User reviews seem to be very mixed. I’d urge caution.
Price: $119
Which Deals Are You Buying?
I came home with some new Bosch spade bit and Diablo circular saw blades. I’m tempted to go back for some Milwaukee drill bits and Shockwave screwdriver bits.
Alan
Grrrr! Literally just bought that exact rigid compressor last Saturday for $129
Chris
I don’t know what HDs rules are, but you might be able to ask for a refund of the difference. I think some stores might do it. If you buy an item that later goes on sale within the next 30 days usually, you might be able to get the difference back. Don’t take my word for it. But there’s a possibility.
Stuart
If they’re not willing to do a price adjustment, a return and rebuy might be in order.
Alan
Just got back and they honored the new sale price so a net refund of ~$32! Usually this site ends up costing me money! Thanks guys!
Stuart
Good to hear, and you’re welcome!
Mike Harvey
If you purchased it within 30 days and the price drops (sale price) they normally will
resell it back to you at the lower price if you go visit the customer service desk.
Scott K
Do those spade bit sets come with the smaller sizes (1/2” and below) as cheap toss ins, or is there a benefit to them over standard bits?
Stuart
I’ve used smaller bits before.
At the least, small diameter spade bits can give you extra reach.
fred
You can also buy various length (6, 12, 16, 18, 24 inch) extenders for spade bits (work with other 1/4 inch hex shank bits too) to provide even more reach:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-Daredevil-12-in-QC-Spade-Drill-Bit-Extension-DQCE1012/203811090
This gives you a cheap, relatively compact alternative for drilling holes in the size ranges covered by spade bits. The downside is that through-hole quality is likely to be a bit rough compared to using a quality auger bit or Power-Bore style bit and blind-holes will not be as good as when using a Forstner bit. The Daredevil’s lead screw makes the feed more aggressive – but also makes the bit less useful for drilling blind holes.
While spade bits were never my first choice for hole boring, I have a few of the Irwin style that have been shop-modified ground-tapered for use in making candle holders.
fred
Another alternative are hex shank auger bits – but they are not as cheap as spade bits. This Milwaukee – 6 piece kit as an example costs $32

That Ridgid Super Clamp, while it does look similar to the Rockwell JawHorse, if you look at components that make up the product, looks much more similar to the Triton XXL SuperJaws.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Triton-34-in-XX-Large-Portable-Clamping-System-for-SuperJaws-SJA300/205954811
Specifically, check out the feet, the red lock switch and it’s black housing, even the triangles that are “pointing down” when you look at the side profile are there … which means any Triton SuperJaws accessories might be compatible with what looks to be this Ridgid re-brand:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Triton-4-75-in-Tool-Tray-with-Side-Work-Support-for-SuperJaws-SJA420/205954804
Stuart
Agreed. The Ridgid was based on Super Clamps before, and so either this represents Super Clamp evolution, or a forked Ridgid design.
Albert
I believe there is a lower end Leatherman for $25. Also a pair of Milwaukee tape measures — I forgot the price. I bought the 60T Diablo in the summer and have been happy with it. I thought one for $20 was a good deal. Now I’m going to pick up two more. It seems like Home Depot cut back on the promotions this time around.
Don
I bought two of those spade bit sets when I picked up the Milwaukee pack out set.
Makita had a bundle with the new short recip saw, drill, impact two 2.0 bats and fast charger for $399 iirc. I have so many spare drills now and I haven’t used my last new impact since the one I bought 7 years ago still works good. So will probably just buy the recip as a bare tool.
The Dewalt Table also stood out to me for $69? But they only had one left at the HD I saw it at. A bit heavy but very easy set up.
The Dewalt? drill bits index set was under $10 also.
I could of probably spent a lot of money there real easy, I had to walk away and resist. Time to inventory what I can use this year not get impulsive.
Don
Ugh,
For the DIY they did have a portercable frammer gun for $88 crazy inexpensive.
Jonathan
The 300# Gorilla work platform has returned again this year for $29.xx, I picked one up last year, its worth the extra $10 over the 225#/250# models.
Glad to see that this year’s HD PRO Black Friday ad includes Memory foam body pillow and 12piece place setting dinner wear (LOL) not sure how they figured it belonged in the Pro ad over the general store ad, haha.
Don
Sorry just looked at photo I took SKU 1002-582-448 The Makita set was $299.00

I notice a nice 7 tool Dewalt Brushless 20v XR kit with 2- 5ah batteries for $599
Thoughts?
Stuart
That looks to be a very good buy! I’ll try to get a post up on it later today.
Tim
My HD had a few more fresh-today deals, one was an empire level bundle of 2’ and 4’ I-beam levels for the price of the 4’ only, $20. I beat up 4 foot levels as circular saw guides, and needed a throw in the car 2’ anyway, so for me this was a good deal.
Also, the Ryobi 18ga airstrike nailer came back for $99 (tool only).
The Milwaukee drill bit set listed for Pro BF at $18 actually has more bits than the regular BF set that my HD has for $19… If you’re getting a set, make sure to get the right one, with two rows of smaller bits (23 bits) and “$75 value”, it’s $2-3 cheaper than the 15pc $55 value set that is the normal BF deal.
Tim
Has anybody seen the M12 stapler in their HD store? I saw an M12 promotion sign today as well that if I buy the fuel hackzall I can get the new stapler bare for free, it’s item number is listed as an eligible free item. However, nobody online has the deal I can find other than Dynamite, and I can’t find any HDs with the stapler in stock near me in Texas… and can’t order that combo from the HD website (or Acme, or CPO, or any of the other half dozen sites I tried). Might just bite the bullet and pay dynamite shipping, but maybe if other folks see it in HD it’s just slowly rolling out still, and I’ll wait to see it in person.
Jim Felt
If you go online to the HD site it might well indicate expected delivery dates of these new M12 tools at your specific area stores.
That’s how I got an M18 heat gun last week before they were actually brought into the store inventory. All very surreal via Toolguyd following.
Rami
How an earth can those Bosch Daredevils be so cheap?? Here in Finland one bit usually costs about 6-10 euros depending on the size. I really need to learn how to use amazon
Stuart
Here too. Maybe the hope is to get pros to try their bits and grow loyal to them.
William
Got last years Rigid tile saw deal for some of my supers at work, so far nobody destroyed/lost it yet. Otherwise I’d pick up a few more.
Sergey
Awesome Hilti 12v combo as online only deal:

Jason R
WOW that is an awesome deal. Must….resist…..
Jason R
I REALLY like that Milwaukee 3pc packout combo but not for $199. I feel like $99 to $149 is a better pricepoint for that.
Also I REALLY need that rigid shop vac but there’s too many shop vac deals and choices out there. Anybody know any other good shop vac deals out there? I currently have a Craftsman XPS 12gal 5.5hp vac and its pretty good. Need something bigger and more powerful. I need a garage vac and a house vac.
Tim
This 16 gal vac deal isn’t a bad deal at all. With shop vacs, you sometimes have to be careful of deals. Home Depot at least I’ve seen multiple times over the past several years make a lesser spec-ed special vacuum to hit deal prices , which while usually okay for the price, isn’t as featured or capable as the regular non-sale “version” of the vacuum. Folks walk in and key on size and/or price, then kind of assume it’s a shop vac so it’ll work for shop vac stuff. And for general usage, they’re usually more than fine. We use the little husky $30 specials day in and day out with the robotics team, sucking up aluminum shavings and sawdust, and they’ve been fantastic.
I know a lot of folks with the similar 14 gallon vac, the WD1450, with the scrolling noise reduction. This 16 gallon vac WD1851 has the same feature. Everybody with the 14 gal loves it, it doesn’t have the high whine typical of shop vacs, so while not particularly quieter, it’s a more bearable noise. I’ve only seen this 16gal one with the cart in detailing shops and rental car places and the like, but I remember it also being not-as-annoying-as-typical in sound. This 16 gal will be a tad bigger than your craftsman obviously, although 5.5 and 6.5HP Peak HP ratings don’t mean much, in either case you’re bumping up against the limits of a 120V outlet.
If you do go with this model, follow Stuart’s note and check the model number on the floor, there is another 16 gallon Ridgid vac also going for $99, but it has the medium hose and less power.
Do you have specific use cases in mind for needing more power? Pretty much any shop vac anymore will more than suit for sucking up water or vacuuming out the car… but there’s also a number of specialized vacs if you’re trying to do something specific that your craftsman isn’t handling.
Jason
Thanks for the info. Right now I’m gutting my attic. Which has a lot of plaster and lathe and old insulation. I would like to retire the craftsman to the garage to get whatever happens in the garage like table saw and miter saw dust and the cars and use the Rigid for house stuff. Cleaning the dog room, attic, unfinished basement I’m also trying to remodel, whatever nasty spills on the carpet or anywhere else in the house, the back porch etc… I like having things that work well instead of something that can just get the job done leaving me to wonder if I should have bought a bigger or more powerful thing.
Tim
I think this vac would serve you well in those capacities. Take a look at the size of it in store if you can, especially with the cart, it’s maybe a tad bigger than you might expect. It also will probably weigh more than your craftsman. If your attic or basement has confined spaces you want to get it into, or restricted access, keep that in mind, the cart adds some size over just the vac itself.
Easy accessory availability for this vac from HD is also a plus, although some things you have to get from HD online (my stores don’t carry the 2.5” 20 foot long hose, but it’s available online as an example). This vac does come with Ridgid’s blue filter, which is rated for drywall dust and the like. You can also fit the regular white filters if you’re sucking up nastiness and would just change the filter out rather than clean it, since the white ones are cheaper. There’s also the green HEPA one for pet dander, if that’s important to you, though I always suggest using a bag if you use the HEPA filter to extend its life. HD has Ridgid bags that fit on this vacuum, but they’re kind of expensive for just 2, I usually get mine generic off amazon and get about a dozen for the same price. The bags also would help a lot with fiberglass and plaster making less of a mess when dumping, but economy depends on if that matters for you or not.
My guess FWIW is you aren’t going to see a better deal later for a more capable vac come up for Black Friday, and I somewhat doubt this one will get discounted further, since they’re a normal regularly stocked vac. I didn’t see any similar deals at Lowe’s jump out at me, though I admit I’m partial to the Ridgid vacs over shop vac brand that Lowe’s has, so Im not as on top of Lowe’s deals. I think from both stores we’ll see more holiday special vacs come up and maybe at better prices, but as mentioned I think they’ll be lacking in some way over the regular models in order to hit those price points, so getting a deal on the regular vacuum makes it a good buy.
KL
I grabbed a Super Clamp today. It is $89 in-store. It does have cam-action locks just like a bike skewer, but not nearly as positive as those on a bike. Mine (cam handles)are not orange as photographed, but rather gray. They present a potential weakness because if pointing the wrong way in storage (when folded up) they could get ripped off. The rear leg has a swivel foot which is also controlled by a quick release, aka cam. I think the swivel foot’s a good idea but adds complication, and it “pops” into place with spring loaded bb’s.
There’s also a set screw which is supposed to keep the dynamic jaw from sliding on it’s own when folded – this set screw is just begging to be snapped off, it has a thumb knob on it and the threaded portion looks tiny, like maybe 10-32 or the rough metric equivalent. I weighed both my Rockwell Jawhorse and the Super Clamp and they’re both pretty much EXACTLY 40 pounds. Also the rear facing rubber pad on the Super Clamp (which you’d only use if you flipped the dynamic jaw around) just pushes into the steel backer. That’s a prime candidate to fall out in a truck bed and never be seen again.
I’m not bashing the Ridgid, I think it’s great, esp for $89. Just making a few observations.
Don
Bought the Level set today, why not, and a couple more speed bore sets.
Saw a Milwaukee Sawzall blade set for $19.97. Was a standard 9pc set https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-Sawzall-Reciprocating-Saw-Blade-Set-9-Piece-49-22-1145/100634550
With a Bonus 6 free blades.
Waiting to see if I get a Pro $20 Coupon this week before shopping anything major.
May add a couple of these sets in to an order for the Milwaukee $150blade for pack-out box.
Jay
My home depot had 2 dewalt flexvolt table saw kits for $249… I bought one – It was such a good deal I wanted to but the other, but my wife would kill me… so it was just one…
Arturo
I was looking at the drill bit set from Milwaukee but then I read it’s not your first choice. What other brand would you recommend? I wouldn’t use it too often
Stuart
That’s a very good set and a good buy.
I prefer USA-made jobber length high speed steel twist bits, sometimes short lengths too.
I’ve bought this and other Red Helix sets, and will buy more. But I still like smooth or tri-lobe shank bits for a lot of what I work on.
These bits are optimized for impact use, and can be used with drills just the same.
It’s just a personal choice.
OhioHead
Purchased the wet tile saw, seems like a no brainer when I have an upcoming backsplash project & it will cost $100 to rent a unit.
Thanks Stuart for the heads up!
Chapin
Not sure where to post this, so you can move as needed…
I’m interested in several dozen 3/4 wood-working pipe clamps. Don’t need to be top of the line, but serviceable. Does anyone know of a good price anywhere, or a coupon that might bring the price down? Thanks a lot.
Jim P.
I picked up a Ridgid super clamp and did get a chance to use it for a small project. One thing I noticed was a piece of plywood that is just over 17″ is too big to use the clamp normally and too small to use it in the reversed position.
I ended up taking the pads off and was able to make it work. Just a little surprised. Other than that, seemed to work well. Have to use it more to see if there are any more potential challenges.
Stuart
I came across something similar with the Rockwell Jawhorse once. I added a piece of scrap material, maybe 2″ x 2″ maple or similar, and it worked out well. If I had to do it again, I would use a few 4″ strips of plywood.
