Over at Home Depot, they have another round of tool deals of the day today, 11/16/2021.
I’m sorry for the late reporting – I’ve been working away from the computer most of the day, and when I finally sat down I saw a lot of messages about this promo. I’m sorry – I forgot to check the deals page first-thing this morning as I usually do. Thank you to everyone who emailed or wrote in about this sale!
There are a lot of good prices here, especially on the power tool accessories, where a couple of special buys are bundled together. This gives you greater savings compared to buying the already-discounted promo sets separately.

For instance, they have the Milwaukee Packout organizer plus 100pc screwdriver bit set plus 15pc Red Helix drill bit set for $55. The impact bit set is $50 for the holiday season, and the drill bit set is $15. If you want both special buys, this flash sale bundle saves you $10. The other bundles offer similar added savings.
The miter saw + saw stand bundles also look to be good buys.
Deals end at 3am ET 11/17/21 unless supplies sell out sooner.

So basically Dewalt took their Atomic Drill and /or impact sets, added $50 to the current special buy prices of $99 and $149 and throw in a “Free Tool!”….things that make one say hmmmmm…

If the kits have everything you want, it’s a $50 premium for a bare tool that retails for $199.
The drill kit plus Atomic impact driver bare tool though… that’s just an even deal with no advantage over getting the combo kit for the same price all season long.

I check SBOTD every day while waiting for my morning coffee. Those Ridgid and Ryobi items sold out unusually fast, at least by 6am Pacific. They must have had very low available stock. I think that’s a common strategy for HD with this to create a sense of urgency for people.

They just know how to trade on human nature. Shortages (real or perceived) in all sort of commodities create a heightened demand – sometime even a frenzy. Having lived through the Arab oil embargo and gasoline shortages in the early 1970’s – you saw folks with 3/4 of a tank of gas waiting in long lines to top off – some in desperate fear that the next day would bring no new deliveries or an astronomical price jump. Some gas stations could not keep up – and not surprisingly – others tried to cash in with exorbitant pricing that just fueled the “feeding frenzy”. Strangely the government behaved somewhat the same way – by creating and stocking the strategic petroleum reserve at or near both peak price and peak demand.

While it’s possible, there has never really been a pattern of this at Home Depot.
I am under the impression that the deals are “set and forget,” but there could be complications or conflicts that result in deals selling out quickly.
But then again, Amazon used to have very aggressively-low-priced tool deals that kicked off Friday mornings at 3am ET, and supplies sold out rapidly. If you weren’t up at 3am, you missed out.
With this deal, some of the Ridgid and Ryobi components are still in stock, and I can’t explain why the bundle SKUs are out of stock.
Right now, all of the “get 2 free tools” deals have been out of stock online, and I don’t think they’ve been in stock at all yet. The only explanation I can think of is that inventory is being suppressed for Black Friday, or to promote in-store shopping.

I check daily too. They were gone by 5:00am Eastern. I assume limited quantities and people staying up late on the west coast are the reason.

Sometimes I check the deals just after 3am ET, and items are already sold out.
My feeling is that the deal items are programmed in advance and some of them launch with little to no inventory.
Amazon does this sometimes too – they launch a deal but with something wrong with the landing page. This typically happens with their Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or Prime Day deals when there are countless gears turning at the same time.

Not sure if this is a general observation, but on several Milwaukee deals at HD I have found the store inventory to be different (and much better) than what was listed on-line. In one case (a Milwaukee $199 battery deal plus a free tool) the staff could not find the items on their computers but the senior person at the customer service desk knew exactly where to look… 30 feet off the ground. The stock level was high for an item seemingly out of stock. The store was full of extra staff doing inventory control so I suspect this is indeed a case of the right and left hands slightly out of synch.

Well due to home depot shipping the wrong item I took advantage of the 10p bit driver set and some extra drills for an extra $6.

Has anyone seen any good dewalt 12v deals? I’ve been wanting to get their compact impact that came out this year but it’s $400 in a kit with batteries and Charger. The big 1/2 impact is only $250 with a 5ah 20v battery and charger

Not yet. Lowe’s has been pushing the original 12V drill/driver kit, and there haven’t been any promos on the newer Xtreme SubCompact brushless tools.
