Over at Home Depot, they have some Milwaukee accessory deals that are going to be very hard to pass up.
First, they have the Milwaukee Shockwave 15pc impact-rated drill bit set for $9.97 and FREE SHIPPING. This looks to be an all-time low price for this set. I’d buy this without hesitation.
This deal – and others mentioned here – are set to end at 3am ET 5/29/23 unless supplies sell out sooner.

Are you looking for some Shockwave impact-rated screwdriver bits too?
This bundle includes the Shockwave Red Helix 15pc drill bit set, plus a 25pc Shockwave screwdriver bit set for $19.97.
The 25pc bit set comes with a Packout-compatible case. You can buy this set separately for $15.97, making the under-$20 bundle deal price a great buy.
Home Depot is offering free shipping on the 40pc bundle set, as well as the 15pc drill bit and 25pc screwdriver bit sets.

This Milwaukee Shockwave 100pc impact screwdriver set is a special buy bundle at $39.97 with free shipping.
It was priced slightly lower as part of a limited time deal last month ($35), but $40 is still a bargain for what you get – an assortment of mostly 2″ and longer power-style bits and accessories, plus Packout-compatible customizable bit cases.

This bundle deal features Milwaukee’s recurring 100pc plus Packout organizer special buy, which is usually either regularly priced at $100, or on sale for $50. Sometimes it’s higher or lower; at the time of this posting, this bundle is $59.97 by itself.
It also comes with a Milwaukee 120pc drilling and driving bit set bundle, which is a $29.88 special buy at the time of this posting.
The price for both together is $69.97. So that’s around $70 for a bundle typically promo-priced at $50, and another bundle currently promo-priced at $30.

If you want a different assortment, Home Depot also has the same 100pc Shockwave and Packout organizer promo bundled with a 75pc assortment.
As mentioned, the 100pc promo special buy is regularly on sale for $50 (but $60 at the time of this posting). The 75pc Shockwave assortment comes with an assortment of impact-rated bits, plus a carabiner bit holder attachment, and is a $19.88 special buy at this time.
So with this deal, the 100pc Packout and Shockwave bit set bundle (usually $50 or $100, promo-priced at $60 at the time of this posting), and the 75pc Shockwave bit set bundle ($20 at the time of this posting), is its own special-buy bundle at $63.97.
Buying the two sets separately would cost $80 at this time, or $70 if you take into account historical pricing for the 100pc set. $64 seems like a very good price for the combo. Home Depot is also offering free shipping on this promo.
I really like when Milwaukee and Home Depot promo math works out like this.
The 15pc drill bit set looks to be at an all-time low price, and while the 100pc Packout plus Shockwave bundle is priced higher than in past sales and promos, the combination bundle sets offer deeper discounts.
I think the 15pc + 25pc Shockwave bundle for $20 and free shipping is an especially good bundle. I believe that only one of the cases is of the new customizable Packout-compatible style, but it’s hard to beat the value of the Red Helix drill bit set.

There’s more! Home Depot has a lot more special buys on Milwaukee Shockwave impact-rated power tool accessory sets. For example, this 43pc SAE and metric 3/8″ impact socket set is a special buy for $109.97.
FYI – the same set was $10 lower for Black Friday last year. If you can use this now, keep in mind that Home Depot has an easy return policy. In my experience, they offer hassle-free price adjustments within 30 days.
Thank you to Clay for the heads-up!!

I love these types of deals but I have so many bits from over the years I could never even count them…lol
TomD
I keep losing the bits or the containers full and buying more. š

***I thin*** the 15pc + 25pc Shockwave bundle for $20 …

If you want to cut your finger every time you remove a bit, buy the Milwaukee drill bit kit. For me it’s Spyder every day, all day.
bred
Ditto…i never wear gloves or have any around when i need to remove mil bits!!!
BigTimeTommy
I agree with Ken those cases are the worst. Still bought the $10 drill kit because I need some drills with quick release shanks. Good deals but I prefer Makita XPS bits for driving.

Thank you for the tip about Spyder cases, I was actually going to ask for a case recommendation because I also donāt like the Milwaukee cases.
Saulac
There seems to be two types, so make sure you know which one you get. The one in the first image is exactly what people are saying: the worst. The second type is one that the bits going in/out side way…I believe this is the Bosch type which now everyone has adopted. The different between the two type should be a text book example of ergonomic. It is a shame that they still make and sell the first type.

I would not recommend the Shockwave Impact drill bits. About 30% of new ones I received in this type offer snapped at base after 2-3 uses.

Thanks for the tip!I just ordered the 15 piece drill set mainly so I can do everything with one drill. Iāve been wanting something like this for awhile.
Jamie Lee Davis
I got 4 of the 15 pc. sets. Perfect!

those are super tempting

Thank you for the sale info. I went to my local Home Depot to see if the 15 piece drill bit set was available in store. It was not but I was advised to check with the customer service desk. The store employee checked and confirmed it had to be ordered and offered to place the order for me. Once the item was displayed on her screen, it was only $8.00. I ordered three sets. Thanks again for the heads up.

Glad to help!

Perhaps the quality of drill bits included in these sets sold at home centers have gotten better lately. But I have never found drill bits at Home Depot to be useful for much beyond drilling wood and light metal. I’ve found some of the hex-shank “titanium” coated bits to be just run-of-the-mill sorts of tools and will stick with USA made industrial twist drill bits whenever I have the choice. Unfortunately – a small set of USA-made twist drills will cost about twice as much as the $15.97 Milwaukee set , not cover the larger sizes and not come with hex shanks:

These aren’t terrible, but in my experience US made or quality import industrial spec drills are superior. One of my big annoyances with many of the drill bit sets from big box stores is that they have all sorts of silly tip designs on them. I haven’t found any advantage to the strange tip shapes–they seem to be mostly marketing garbage– yet the disadvantage is clear: they’re more work to sharpen.

The cobalt drill bits are the only ones that are actually harder (its a different steel alloy, not a coating) and are actually better for drilling steel.
fred
The cobalt alloy bits that I’ve used are indeed harder – and more brittle too. They are useful for hard steels and some other drilling. For some applications one can also resort to tips with carbide alloy or other hard materials like diamond. Solid carbide bits may be needed for efficient drilling some case-hardened steels or tool steels. We did a lot of aircraft work in our fabrication shop – and many of the adapter bits (1/4-28 screw shank) were cobalt alloy.
I’m not sure it was tip geometry, a dull bit or just inferior steel – but I had a neighbor struggling with drilling holes in a trailer hitch. He was using a new set of bits (I think from HD in a red case). I brought over some machine-screw length (tend to be stiffer than jobber length) regular steel USA made bits and we had no issue completing the holes. I had thought that maybe he had work-hardened his first hole attempt – and was prepared to go home to fish out some cobalt bits – but we never got that to that need.

I used these drill bits today to drill through two 5/8 thick bronze rudders to mount zincs. They handled the job very well and I still managed to slice my finger putting the bits back in the case lol.
Munklepunk
Two things. No more flat heads, I can’t give them away I just recycle them. And can we get sales or kits without more plastic boxes. They need sales on bits that come in efficient cardboard boxes that can be disposed of instead of piles of plastic waste that’s not getting recycled. Not everyone needs a new case evertime they want some t15s. A local store sells boxes of bits and can’t keep them in stock, they keep them next to the register.
Derek
Completely agree!

https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Accessories/Driving-and-Fastening/SHOCKWAVE-Driver-Bits/SHOCKWAVE-Impact-Phillips-Bits#sp-RefineOptions Indicates they sell bulk 250 packs somewhere.
I like the kit with the pack out organizer as it can be reused.
Jim Felt
It says for example Zoro. No. 2 Phillips in the 250 box. And Zoro frequently offers 10-20% discounts.
So regularly 95 cents or even 80 cents per.
Bonnie
Agreed on all points.
Jerry
The irony of what you said is that I needed just 2-3 bits, andto buy them separately (what I assume to be the same Milwaukee Shockwave bits) on a cardboard card would have cost me more than this entire set including the case. This set even comes with 2 of the size I seem to wear out the fastest.
Robert
Slightly off topic. For those that like Bridge City Tools, they are having 20% off site wide. Of course many feel their regular prices are inflated, so this may just bring the prices back to reality.

fred
I had not looked at Bridge City in years. Back then they were still made in the USA – looked nice but perhaps a bit over-designed and pricey. Now made in China some of those attributes still seem to apply. I looked at their 20% off sale on a HP-6FX mini multi plane. Looked OK at $699 – but adding in the full set of 17 cutters/accessories – it comes to a whopping $3311.83.
Robert
Fred, you got me curious. Late Memorial Day they are showing it with 5 accessories for $973. Starting price is $1765, not $3311, so it may not be a jade and diamonds comparison.
https://bridgecitytools.com/cart
Of course on a quick glance I have a hard time figuring out what functions that package will do compared to deducted single use hand planes.
fred
I just took the $699 sale price for the plane, then started scrolling down through each of the cutter sets (multiple sizes for each style) – each on sale for 15-16% off. If I did my arithmetic correctly it added to just shy of $3312. Maybe I missed some 5 accessory package. If I wanted to gift a combination plane (mine is an old Stanley 45) – the alternative would be a Veritas (made in Canada) for $439 – it has 45 blades available if you count both metric and imperial sizes. A full 45 blades can be purchased for $1767. So, the Veritas – with absolutely all of its cutters would be about 2/3 the price of the Bridge City package. Not having the tools side-by-side I am not able to say which is better or if one has more or different capabilities than the other. But I still think that the Bridge City is pricey.

I hate the Milwaukee drill bit kits … so much R&D right??? But you cant get bits in or out without cutting yourself or using a flat screwdriver …
Jim Felt
No kidding.
So I keep them near a needle nose plier solely for my finger preservation.
Sadly I canāt stand my local Lowes equals no Spyder for me. Truly awful local inventory ācontrolā.
