Over on Amazon, they are discounting both the 8″ and 10″ Irwin Vise-Grip adjustable parallel jaw pliers, which I’ll simply describe here as a “pliers wrench.”
The sale price for the 8″ pliers wrench is $15 and the 10″ pliers wrench is $20. We don’t know how long this sale will last, but it looks to be part of Amazon’s pre-Black Friday promotions.
According to camelcamelcamel, an online Amazon price tracker, Irwin’s 8″ pliers were was previously priced as high as $25, it’s been $22 for more than half the time they’ve been listed on Amazon. There is no other pricing data for the 10″ pliers on Amazon, but they were previously $26 at Lowes.
Price: 8-inch for $15, 10-inch for $20
Lowe’s also has the Irwin Pliers Wrenches on sale, although they are charging slightly more ($17) for the 8″ pliers wrench. The 10″ pliers wrench is priced the same as Amazon: $20.
Irwin pliers wrenches are regularly $22 for the 8″ and $26 for the 10″. On the Lowe’s website, the discounted prices are advertised as the “New Lower Price,” which is often just a synonym for “sale price.”
Price: 8-inch for $17, 10-inch for $20
I own both the 8″ and 10″ pliers. Not great but not bad. Not Knipex quality but for the price can’t complain!
To me Irwin is one of the most interesting tool companies out there. They sell extremely high-grade stuff but also imported pot metal.
They own some very important names; Hanson, Vise-Grip , and Record. I’ve seen what they made out of Vise-Grip; the jury is still out for their other brands.
End of the day, just like with Stanley, I might have no idea if the tool I am picking up is USA-made and industrial-rated (e.g. Hanson screw extractors) or if it’s sold by the container load on Alibaba with a different color scheme (e.g. this post).
Interesting that they went back to the gray handles like they had on all the rebranded NWS pliers. Are these being promoted as a premium product line?
I wish those pliers came back
They still make them, just not carried by Lowe’s anymore. Still available on Amazon and through some specialty hardware stores.
Acme Tools still has a few: https://www.acmetools.com/shop/SearchDisplay?searchTerm=irwin+nws+pliers
I’ve seen them in store recently too.
Ugliest pliers ever made or has Kobalt probably claimed that with some stupid ass father’s day special plier?
I’ll wait for my beloved (Channellock) to make these.
You’ll probably be waiting a long time as it took them way too long to come up with a set of button adjust pliers.
