Kincrome Emergency Spare 10mm Socket!

The Kincrome Emergency 10mm Socket

Gosh, where did you put your 10mm socket? You lost it again?! Then you need this, an emergency 10mm socket that gets mounted to your wall in a convenient hard-to-miss box.

Kincrome is an Australian-based tool company, and they’re trying to expand in the USA market. I don’t know too much about the brand yet, but some of their tools look interesting. I don’t see any way to buy this in the USA (it’s part no. P2100), but the video and concept is just too amusing not to share.

This is a gag gift, but it’s funny because it’s true. There’s something about the size of 10mm sockets, or maybe it’s how often that size is used, that makes them too easy to misplace.

The socket is housed in an EVA tray and the powder coated tin is wall-mountable. I don’t think the glass (or plastic) is actually breakable, but inside is a real Kincrome 3/8″ drive 10mm socket.

I might make my own box then. Love some australian marketing. LIke starter fluid sold as “start ya bastard”.

But one truth to the 10mm is that it’s one of a few sizes of metric that is not replaceable by a near enough size common SAE socket/wrench. unlike many others where a X/16th socket will replicate close enough. 10mm is not 3/8 and and few people have a 13/32nds socket. 10mm is commonly used on veichles now and short of a very few instances is the common battery terminal bolt size today.

Awesome! You made me laugh for about 5 minutes. Wish I could buy that stuff here in the States – would make an awesome Christmas present for all my gearhead friends.

Yesterday I went to my socket drawer and a 11mm socket was missing, at first I thought it was the 10mm missing which I use a lot, but I needed the 11mm. It was my only deep 3/8 one and I was like crap its lost, as I usually put everything back in its place after finishing a task. Luckily it was still on my 3/8 stubby impact from driving lags for the ceiling rack.

This would be a better usable gag gift if it was an impact socket.

Of course it’s breakable, everything’s breakable. Just hit it harder. Of course you’ll get in just to find the socket has already disappeared.

Brilliant. 10mm sockets disappear from the toolbox like socks from the dryer.

https://torquelinegarage.com.au/kincrome-10mm-emergency-socket-in-case/ – they’ll ship internationally. I used WorldRemit to pay (they have a promo code, 3FREE to get your first 3 transfers to free), cost me $22 and change shipped. Think I may order 1-2 more as gifts for a few friends.

Most of my sockets and spanners are Kincrome. My 3/8 socket set was my first “real tool” purchase that wasn’t a generic no name made in whoknowswhere with tolerances of that’saboutright bought from a discount store. I wouldn’t call them high end but they’ve never let me down and would easily be over 20 years old now (probably approaching 30) but I don’t use them professionally, just DIY.

Going to have to find myself one of these emergency break glasses for the shed.

Glowing sockets … awesome. There is an Astro factory guy over on Garage Journal who seems very helpful. If you post over there, I bet he can help you out.
