Klein High Visibility Zippered Tool Bags

Klein Tools has come out with high visibility zippered tool bags, model 55599. The combo comes with 2 sizes – a 12-1/2″ x 7″ bag, and a 10″ x 5-1/2″ bag.

The zippered pouches are made from 1680D ballistic wave material, and there are reflective strips on both sides.

The interiors are also also brightly colored, in high-viz yellow-green. I suppose that’ll come in handy if you’re tired of hunting down black-finish screwdriver bits in an all-black tool bag in poor lighting.

The bags can be coupled together, and also come with a single accessory-sized carabiner clip.

First Thoughts

Looks neat.

Is there a need for something like this? If you’re working in certain spaces, especially low-lighting conditions, something like a small zippered tool pouch can get lost in the environment. One could argue that a bright colored tool pouch might be a good alternative, but I can see the benefit of high-viz stripes.

In a busy workspace, or dimly-lit environment, this bag will likely stand out well, especially if you do a quick scan with a flashlight.

It’s nice to have more options.

These do look different than Klein’s traditional canvas zippered bags; I wonder how they compare.

These kinds of bags are cery handy for small parts or tools. However, I somewhat baulk at the prices. Maybe it is just me but between these Kleins and the Milwaukee bags, 10-12 dollars apiece seems expensive. I guess they are worth what people will pay but the last I looked you can get a two pack of simlar bags(not hi-vis) at Lowes for something like 11 dollars. AWP brand I think.

I find it concerning that they emphasize:

New 16oz canvas with the Heavy Duty Brass Zipper (More Strong). There is no problem about the zipper in the new version, please be assured of the purchase.

But you get an extra 5% off with the Amazon Coupon – $4 ea. with a “more strong” zipper.

Sorry – I could say more but my tongue is way out in my cheek.

BTW – for $4 more ($23.99) – there is the Angry Beaver brand bags that are labeled “Amazon’s Choice”

There are at least 5 other similar listings from no-name companies putting their own labels on the same bags.

Yep – sorta saw that when I clicked on your Amazon link and looked around. This “Amazon Choice” thing seems a bit new to me – and I’m not sure how useful it is as a shopping guide. It looks a bit like one of those vaudeville jokes where they add so many enjoinders and caveats to something as to make it silly. Like saying: the best suit of clothes under $50 that is also made by one-armed tailors named Joe. I wonder how many similar tools qualify as an “Amazon Choice”? If I were looking for a toolbag – might I find several Amazon choice items? Its also a mystery to me how I might search on Amazon for all the Amazon Choice items in a particular category. In the case of the Angry Beaver bags that I linked to – if you mouse over “Amazon Choice” it says: “Amazon’s Choice recommends highly rated, well-priced products available to ship immediately. ” – so maybe they just have an algorithm that adds the appellation on when those criteria are met.

I’ve seen that before. It sometimes seems arbitrary and algorithm driven.

“Amazon recommends this because it matches your search criteria. “

Amazon choice driven by sellers response to our offering of sales enhancement technology from which we only charge a large amount of money.

For reasons to tedious to disclose I have been made aware that there are “third party sellers” on Amazon UK selling current in IKEA shops products for seven times the price and they even reference IKEA in the listing – why? This sort of thing together with the whole counterfeit/stolen goods issue is why less and less people over here use eBay.

I bought a set of these.

I don’t own the Klein version – and probably never will – to compare quality, but for sorting 4-5 tool groups in a pelican case that gets abused by TSA these bags will last forever.

If you’re looking for a canvas tool bag and don’t want to spend $10 apiece , these will work great for you.

I have a set of the Milwaukee pouches, and I find them pretty useful for small sets of things I want to keep together. I use one for my oddball service tools for Crane faucets, and another for a set of Bondhus ball-end hex drivers.
I can see the use for high-viz ones, especially doing things like working in attics and crawlspaces, both to help find tools while working, and to make sure you don’t forget them when you leave.

I’ve had a set of Klein pouches for years and just can’t quiet figure out a real use for them. Maybe it’s me?

These strike me as the kind of thing a handyman/carpenter/contractor/construction worker would find convenient, but would never buy for themselves (or budget for.) That makes them an excellent Christmas present!

I use bags similar to these made by Fire Force in the US. Very high quality and 20+ colors which is nice for differentiating which is which. Wouldn’t want to carry multiple bags that are the same color.

Same here. I love that I can grab the right bag by the color and that many of the colors are bright. Fire Force also has some other excellent products.

I use bags like this for drills and impact drivers. I can throw them in the toolbox and not have to worry too much about getting them damaged. Actually, I mostly just use padded bubble wrap postal bags which practically cost nothing.
