Klein Tools KTB1000 Battery Power Station

Klein Tools KTB1000 and Blackfire PAC1000 1500W portable power stations have been recalled (no. 24-067) due to an issue that can lead to fire and burn hazards.

The problem has been traced to “the top and bottom of the internal inverter boards” that can overheat during use.

There have been 4 reports of overheating, but no injuries. There have been no reports of battery fires.

Approximately 3800 units (plus 164 in Canada) were sold between November 2021 and November 2023.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using either power station and return them to the original place of purchase.

Klein Tools can be reached at 800-527-3099 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.

Blackfire may not have been the best choice for a product name.

      The list goes on:
1500W models are label as 1000.
Marketed as outdoor gear (Battery power stations, should be considered only if you have to use indoor. Else quiet gensets are still much better choice).

I really wish companies would just stick with their competencies instead of slapping their brand on whatever cheap Chinese crap the marketing department thinks will fit.

164 in Canada. Was it even worth selling it there?

Interesting sales figures for anyone looking to expand into this product portfolio. I’m still looking to get a battery backup for storm season because our condo association in Florida has banned gas generators and imposes aggressive daily fines for their use in breezeways that makes them an uneconomical option. This highlights the importance for brands to pick the right licensing partners for tools outside their core competencies.
