Kreg Automaxx Bar Clamp

Kreg has added to their line of Automaxx self-adjusting locking-pliers clamps with new bar clamps. The expansion includes several sizes of standard and heavy duty Automaxx bar clamps that auto-adjust and lock with a squeeze of the handle.

The new Kreg standard Automaxx bar clamps have jaw reach of 2-1/2″ and exert clamping pressure of up to 550 pounds, and the new heavy duty clamps have jaw reach of 2-7/8″ and exert clamping pressure of up to 700 pounds.

As with the smaller Automaxx clamps, the new bar clamps feature adjustable tension mechanisms so that you can dial in the clamping pressure your project calls for. Once the jaws are in contact with what is to be clamped, a squeeze of the handles tightens things up and adjusts to different thickness automatically without the need for additional adjustment.

Standard Automaxx bar clamps are available in 8″, 16″, and 24″ sizes, and heavy duty Automaxx bar clamps are available in 12″, 24″, and 40″ sizes.

Both standard and heavy duty clamps feature all-metal construction, comfort-grip handles, and non-marring jaw pads.

ETA: November 2014
Prices: $30-$50

A bit like a woodworking version of the Bessey SG5-DR:

There was a Chinese copy of this in the front bargain bins of my TSC the other day.

I bought (2) 24″ clamps an was going to load up on them for my fabrication shop until I discovered a major flaw with the product. Turns out my 24″ assemblies we fabricate can not be clamped with New Kreg Automaxx 24″ Bar Clamps because it will not open up to 24″. Very disappointing.
