Aw gee – I was actually thinking. one or more would be nice for Xmas presents. I’ve bought my share of Swiss Army knives for that purpose – but these looked like they might have some added cache – if not also added funtionality. When we were in Lucerne – I wanted to take a short side trip to the Victorinox factory – but my wife forbade it. I sort of agreed – as we found Lucerne cruising on the lake one of the most pleasnat spots in the world – and don’t know if a visit to a factory/store would have added anything worth the drive.

Their comments at Leatherman Garage were pointed. I mean, released and sold out same day! And limited to 500 or less?
I hate to sound extreme, but Leatherman lost a customer/fan when they can’t see a good product and make enough, let alone price them in 3 digits.

It didn’t go actually let you see it and add to cart until 9:04 and less then 2 minutes later when I finished putting my info and payment it wouldn’t let me complete my order…… I refreshed the landing page and it said sold-out at 9:06
I would love to get the actual time from leatherman, it was most likely sold out in less then 2 minutes the servers were having a hard time with thousands of people trying to get the small 900 quantity.

I understand people buy these because they’re limited release, but the garage series seems wildly overpriced for the utility of what you get. The “value” relates to novelty and rarity.

A Victorinox climber or even the S17 evogrip are pretty comparable in loadout and significantly less expensive. I understand those aren’t the same tool though, given the “free” design of the Leatherman.

Still, if Leatherman would use s35vn steel for the blade, or even something cheaper like D2, I would find it a lot more compelling.

Sold out indeed and overpriced. I am a member, and was on a list for VIP order of the Rebar version in black as Xmas gifts. After I bought/received them, then gave them out, in Dec, the price dropped considerably.

While a good gift and tool, I realized “I was the tool” here.

Also, of the five Rebars I bought, two were stuck on closing. It took some effort for my friends that received them, to get them to close, and the coating on them, left black stains. Not ideal, but they were all pleased and the tools are functional as designed.

Just disappointed that such a decent product is limited and scooped up before even known about. Great engineering but poor marketing.

I don’t begrudge anyone for purchasing something that they think will make them happy or make them money. For folks that loved the T series, or are big leatherman fans, I get how this could be a nice fit. The limited aspect of this, color scheme, and an American made bandana (for a product called Europe75) are not enough to make me overcome the fact that I don’t care for the T series.

I haven’t been able to bring myself to spend the money on any of the Free line from the mixed reviews, so this one was a bit of a no-go from the start for me. Seems like less streamlined SAK.

I always thought Leatherman should make a dedicated wine opener. Give it a knife, foil cutter, corkscrew and lever, and bottle opener. Maybe some scissors.

Getting a Leatherman garage release is harder than getting a new pair of Jordans.

Reminds me of years ago I would go to the state surplus outlet and look through the TSA confiscated bins. That is until the resellers started showing up with 5 gallon buckets and took everything. They then stood there and sorted out the junk to put back. I don’t bother anymore.

Same with Leatherman Garage, I don’t bother.

I really like the lever for the corkscrew. Much better, in my opinion, than the terrible two-hand design that Victorinox uses.

Fun take on the french army knife. It’s good to see Leatherman putting a little stone-tumble on their parts.

I would like to see a flat-grind blade!

Some how you can have everything Set up so all you do is add to cart and all your info including payment is already in the system so you can literally checkout in seconds. Is that the correct thinking?

By making the blade a one handed opener they made it illegal to carry in Germany. That’s a good chunk of Europe.
