The OHT would be ideal as a new addition to my EDC as a firefighter /paramedic for a rather busy service in Tennessee. I am currently carrying a Wave which works great but has several down falls. Often times while I need to use to my tool I have one hand busy while holding on to a ladder, holding another tool, flash light etc.. The ability to easily deploy the tool one handed would be a great safety bonus. Chipping the wire cutters on the wave is a big fear of mine because I use them frequently but with the OHT this wouldn’t be an issue. While the exchangeable bits on the wave are nice they short reach of them leave a lot to be desired and the extender is rather awkward sometimes, the extended length Philips would be very nice also because when minutes count I don’t need to be fumbling around with small tools. But lately how could I forget the oxygen wrench would be used on basically every medical run I make because everyone knows that you can never find the plastic ones when you need to, the strap cutter can be used to cut rope webbing and mostly clothing of trauma patients. I could go on for awhile as to why this tool could increase my efficiency and safety but hopefully this will paint a clear picture for you.

I have cut hundreds of zip ties along with lots of things I should have never cut with them but they kept on cutting! The only disadvantage is they are so small and compact( perfect for pocket) that I have lost my last two! My favorite tool of the 3 would be the OHT Tactical!

i would like the rebar because i would literally use every tool on the rebar. i like the solid look and size of the rebar. i have a cheap multi-tool now that gets a lot of use, but i am always slightly frustrated with the quality of the unit. the screwdriver bits barely hold the screw, a pliers that slips because it is worn (but not much only 10% of the time, but when i really need it), the blade does not hold an edge, the saw is mediocre and the file is like an emery board, however even thou it is barely functional, it gets me by 65.8% of the time, i always wondered what it would be like to have a quality tool. my friend has a wave and i am constantly borrowing it from him at work when my multi-tool “won’t cut it”.

for the rebar i would use the ruler instead of counting fingers. i have a couple of old cars and always require a pliers, wire cutter, or screwdriver all the time. my daughter has power wheels that i constantly modify in which a multi-tool comes in handy as well. i would use the flat head to take off the filter to prime my carb on the mower as other screwing task. and i am constantly making wood projects for my daughter that i would use the file. i would use the saw for my tree branches that grow between my fence and small fine tuning of trim or carpentry around the house. i would use the awl for making holes in leather and wood. i would use the knife, screwdrivers and pliers daily at work and around the house. i am always fixing things around the house. i would use the bottle opener at the end of the day for an ipa. my first reach is for my cheap multi-tool, however sometimes it’s not good enough and lets me down some of the time, i think the quality rebar won’t let me down as i can see by using my friends leatherman the quality that goes into leatherman products.
i am a husband a dad and a do it yourselfer, and feel worthy of having a rebar to reach for, as it will be used for everything that it is.

Plus one for the OHT. I like the idea of one handed operation and the color scheme matches my uniform. I’ve carried several versions of Leatherman over the years and they have saved the day on many occasions. Most recently, I used the pliers in my skeletool to help remove a fishing hook from a pelican that I came across while biking. The OHT would have very handy there as this guy was not too happy to be held even though we were helping him get free from the hook and a mess of fishing line.

I have a Leatherman Wave, Skeletool, Freestyle, Squirt PS4, and a Style. The Skeletool is far and away my favorite – Light enough to carry regularly, Sturdy enough to handle tasks, and only the tools that are really needed on a regular basis. I would choose a Skeletool so I could give it to my brother-in-law to upgrade the folding boxcutter he carries.

I would like to win the Leatherman Rebar. I started of using the Leatherman PST a very long time ago when my father gifted me one. I recently upgraded to the Wingman and love the pliers on it. I feel that the Rebar provides me a similar transition up from the Wingman that I got from the PST. As a computer technician I use a screwdriver everyday. The PST had a regular driver on it but the wingman has a 2D driver. The Rebar would give me back the 2D driver and would be overall a better multi tool for me to carry. Thank you Leatherman for making such wonderful products and standing by them.

Who can say no to free?
I currently have An SOG in the car, one on my tool belt, one in my tool box at school, A Gerber in the kitchen tool drawer, (other one got stolen along with the tools the car a few years ago), a Leatherman wave by the shelf near the front door and another floating around the house somewhere as well as several Leatherman micras. One Micra on my keychain…always, one in the heatshrink box, one in the kitchen tool drawer as well as several spares. Ever since the airlines started confiscating them they can be had on ebay by lots and I’ve bought several lots of 10 and more to date.
That said there is always room for more and it’s time for change..couldn’t go wrong with any of those choices but I’d probably lean towards the OHB if it the pliers are spring loaded. It looks like a similar design to the Gerber which can be deployed manually by flicking it open which doesn’t always work. That said they all have there advantages, I’m sure I’d be happy with either of the three really. 🙂

I’ve always carried one since I was 21 years old.

It came in handy when I started working as a painted opening those 1 and 5 gallon buckets was easy. I lost one there but bought another.

I would take it fishing. Really helped getting the hooks off and cutting fishing line.

I’ve always carried a leatherman since it first came out unfortunately I lost my last one…right now I have a gerber…i got it for free…if I get this one for free, it will replace my gerber for sure.

I got a Leatherman Skeletool CX for my girlfriday for xmas last year before she got send over to Japan for the Marine Corp. She told me that she needed a knife and she had some cheap thing beforehand when she got out of boot and this look more useful than just a knife. She the first day having it she was able to first something on her car when she was in the states! She told me she uses it all the time over in Japan.

I would love the Skeletool version to replace my lost Leatherman. I purchased it 20 years ago, and used it near everywhere I have traveled, eating, cooking, and of course repairing things with it. So much so that I wore out the pliers portion and never once cut myself with it (if you knew me, you would know sharp objects are attracted to me, with plenty of scars to show for it, including nearly cutting off my thumb — still some no nerve spots on it to this day…). I promise to try and not cut myself with it if so fortunate.

Having a multi-tool around at work is a godsend for a mechanic in a large plant like myself. we tend to have a special set of tools for certain jobs, and have to lug them around on a cart. and then when you least expect it you have to climb into a boom, or skyjack and go somewhere you can’t take your entire cart, so having the right tools with you saves time and headaches. Any mechanic in the plant has lost count how many times they have forgotten a tool they needed as simple as a pair of needle nose pliers, a wire cutter, a screwdriver, or even a knife because the things they did bring, were ratchets, wrenches and hammer. Having a leatherman on you is such a time saver and genuinely useful that i can’t believe they don’t issue the things out to all the mechanics in the plant to save on downtime for equipment and projects!
