Over at Home Depot, this Leatherman Sidekick and Croc multi-tool gift set is on sale for about $30. We reviewed the Sidekick multi-tool, and think it’s a great budget multi-tool.
The new Croc mini-tool is a one-piece keychain-sized multi-tool akin to Leatherman’s Piranha tool ($25 via Amazon). The Croc lacks the bit holder aspect of the Piranha, but is otherwise nearly identically featured. Its finish is a little less polished than the Piranha’s as well.

Right now, the Sidekick is priced at $32 on Amazon and $30-35 elsewhere. So for a couple bucks less, you get the Sidekick multi-tool AND the Croc mini-tool for $30 at Home Depot.
The Sidekick and Wingman are similar, but with a few notable differences. If you’re not sure whether you want the Wingman or the Sidekick, go for the Sidekick gift set, as it looks to be the better deal.

The Croc is a really poorly implemented tool considering Leatherman’s usual tools. This set will probably be a great collector’s item.

Got the set today. I like it over the HD Wingman deal. My main complaint with HD is they keep a very limited selection of leathermen in the stores. Used to be more . Not sure why they changed.

UPDATE: I just stopped by my local HD and picked up the Sidekick and Croc for $20. I did see it last week for the listed $29 and did not jump on it as I already have the Wingman and all my friends already had Multi-tools. Funny thing a lady was picking up a Husky multi tool for her son, and I had to convince her to spend the extra $10 and get the sidekick. Will It go down to $15? Maybe but someone will buy the lot at that price.

Wow, $20? That is a GREAT price! My guess is that your store had extra inventory they wanted to clear out fast. Maybe they’ll drop to $20 at other stores, but I think $15 is highly improbable.

I saw the Sidekick and Croc package at HD today for $19, it was in the aisle not where the Leatherman stuff usually is on the shelf. I already have the Wingman but figured this was worth $19. It’s listed at $29.99 online but lots of people are finding these for cheaper in the store.
