The Leatherman Skeletool CX, one of my all-time favorite multi-tools, in on sale now for Black Friday.
Over at Amazon, the Leatherman Skeletool CX has been discounted from $90 to $70.
This is a great minimalist multi-tool, with pliers, 154CM stainless steel plain edge knife blade, interchangeable flat-style bit holder, and carabiner clip with bottle opener. It also has a pocket clip, giving you multiple carrying options.

The knife opens with one hand via the thumb hole and has a liner lock. There are extensions and adapters you can buy to be able to use the flat-style hex bit holder with standard 1/4″ hex screwdriver bits. The tool comes with 2 double-ended bits, and you can get more in Leatherman’s bit set.
The Skeletool CX in all of these color options are priced at $69.95, which is 22% off the regular price of $89.95.
I very highly recommend the Skeletool CX, and love all of the new color options that are presently available. At this time only the olive drab colorway (not shown above but visible via the link) is not discounted with the others.
Which color would you pick?

The Skeletool (non-CX) is also on sale.
It’s priced at $59.95, which reflects a 20% discount from its regular price of $74.95.

All of these Leatherman sales you’re posting about are great! I have to say, I don’t love my skeletool. I can appreciate that it is a higher quality tool than my sidekick, but I don’t like that the pliers aren’t spring-loaded and I miss some of the tools. I know it’s meant to be a lightweight minimalist option- so I guess that just isn’t for me.
I had hoped to pickup a few Wingmen as gifts but they never made it to my local Costco and now I don’t even see them on their website. I wonder if they sold through them all or pulled them to save for BF…
Stuart
Costco had the Sidekick, and they were underselling all other Leatherman sellers. https://toolguyd.com/costco-leatherman-sidekick-multi-tools/ I don’t see it on their website either – maybe they sold out.

Oops- I mixed up sidekick and wingman. I love my wingman and had hoped to grab a few sidekicks…maybe they’ll be back?

For as much love as the Skeletool seems to get, in-hand it was a weird form factor and I sold mine. Maybe in a bag or glovebox it’s OK, but I thought the clip/bottle opener took up a lot of real estate for what it was. But I’m also the guy who thinks their best iteration was the old/retired SideClip.

I have my Wave+ on my belt at work everyday, but at night or weekends I keep the Skeletool clipped in my pocket. I bought one in the mindset that it’s a knife with a workable screwdriver and pliers if needed. It works well for this but the pliers are very awkward and I agree with the clip. It does fit the bill for a pocketknife with pliers more than a full built multi tool

I would love to see an update to the sideclip. I’m solidly in skeletool camp for edc and appreciate the extra bit of handle length that incorporates the clip design. The whole thing could be sized up 10-15% and it wouldn’t bother me so long as it maintained its thickness dimension. I bet a sideclip would be smoother in pocket, but I never think about the skeletool in my rh back pocket either, and I can open its knife or pliers one-handed, when I’m already holding something, which is regularly the case.
I have an early cx and a standard serrated blade version. Surprisingly, I prefer the serrated blade with the lesser steel. I find it rugged enough and easy to touch up.
The cerakote finishes do wear away, but it’s impressive how durable they are for how thin the coating. I like the wear pattern on mine, which shows that it has lived a useful, persistent life. I’m turning it over in hand as I write this.

If you decide to buy a third Skeletool, you should consider the Skeletool RX. It has a *serrated* blade made of the same 154CM stainless steel used in the non-serrated blade of the Skeletool CX.

Love the Skeletool. I find the form factor intuitive and convenient. Bottle opener taking up too much real estate? Disagree. Although I don’t use the clip function, it’s unobtrusive and a good place to put a bottle opener. I’m pretty much on team can.

I love the Skeletool, I wish it would return to it’s ~2015 era sale price of $30 but I guess the same could be said about everything these days

Please all EDC manufacturers…
LOSE ALL BOTTLE OPENERS!!!
any body who didn’t figure out 5 different ways to open bottles before graduating high school is not going to be an adult who carrys a multi tool.
They’re useless and take up space.
Besides that…i love leatherman😎
Stuart
What space does it take up here?!
The Skeletool’s bottle opener is the most unobtrusive design I have ever seen, and it’s so subtle that many users don’t even realize it exists.

I’m generally with Jeff, but Stuart is right. The skeletool opener is the exception.
It’s downright refined the way the spring clip usually retains the bottle cap. And the handle length is just right in my hand.

Also, the compound curves of the backside of the Skeletool’s bottle opener can be used to pry things apart… or remove caps designed to spin open with coins.

I use mine all the time

I own 5 or 6 Skeletools and find them useful every day. I keep one in work bibs, one in non-work pants, one on coffee table, one on desk, a couple at my winter home so I don’t lose another one to TSA. I’ve got full on tools in my work truck, but Skeletool comes through when I need something handy in my pocket.

Love my Leatherman Skeletool, it’s the original CX with carbon fiber and has a damascus blade from the long gone Texas Tool Crafters. It has always served me well time after time.
Yet my Leatherman workhorse is definitely the original Charge Titanium that I have had for decades now. Super glad that they have extended the warranty period since my Charge has visited its birthplace lol twice so far for repairs.
Occasionally my Supertool II with the rare leatherman tool adapter makes an appearance. The one I purchase as gifts for family and friends is certainly the Rebar, a great entry tool and nice quality n price.
I have a friend in Germany who owned a sales and service company for Leatherman in Europe. Over the years all sorts of oddball items from him have made their way to me here in NYC. It’s a wild world out there when it comes to Leatherman multi-tools.
Whoops, sorry for the repeat lol. Was fixing some typos and somehow sent it twice, my bad everyone. Have a nice weekend and a wonderful “slay the turkey day” lol.
Stuart
(I assumed the second one was intended and removed the first. Have a great Thanksgiving!)
