Leatherman Wingman Multi-Tool Fanned Open

The Leatherman Wingman multi-tool is not a fully-featured super-robust design, but it is quite versatile and well built at a very reasonable price.

For the holidays, Home Depot is selling these at the special price of $19.88. Stocks are limited, and there is no online or in-store pickup purchase options. To get one of these for $19.88, you have to visit your local Home Depot store in person.

Update: As of 12/9, Home Depot has started allowing for online ordering with free in-store pickup, as well as inventory checking.

This is the Leatherman multi-tool we recommend for college students and others who want a quality first or backup multi-tool for cheap. Here is a comparison review we put together for the Sidekick and Wingman.

All of the HD’s in the 5 boroughs (probably everywhere) have the Sidekick and the piranha for $30.

Yep! (Link) A related deal post will be going up shortly.

The Croc is not quite the Piranha though, it’s a sort of cruder and unfinished-looking model. The gift set is still a good bargain, though, and unlike the Wingman, the Sidekick and Croc gift set is available for online purchases and an extra $5-off order coupon if you buy 2 or more at once.

Stuart, I just picked up the Sidekick + Croc gift set for $19.00 at HD. They had a white paper with a printed price reduction taped to the display, with plenty (at least 50) still in stock. I can send a pic if you email me. Not sure if it’s just a local discount, but it was printed out quite “officially”.

Menards is currently selling the wingman for 18.88 thru Dec 15, according to the latest flier I got from them.

Isn’t this exactly the same as their Black Friday deal? It worked out that I was at 2 different HDs on Black Friday (oddly unrelated to Black Friday shopping), and they had plenty of them. Didn’t seem like anybody was buying them, the displays were full. You may also notice that Amazon’s price has come down to $19.88, and with Prime, it can be at my door in 2 days, no need to rush to Home Depot.

Yes, but when we last mentioned the deal in late November, you could only buy this at Home Depot. They now enabled online ordering and inventory checking.

When I checked earlier, Amazon’s price was $25. Now that you mentioned it, I checked and they did indeed drop the price to $19.88, matching Home Depot’s price.

$19.88 at Amazon without having to drive to Home Depot does seem like the better deal!

I got a Wingman for my nephew, and another for me. I figured I’d use the scissors more than the saw. Also, I can’t say enough about how useful the package opener really is, once you get the knack of it. I believe it would be used more (by me) than the small knife blade. I really like how you can open the scissors (and knife blade) without opening the tool. It seems to strike a very nice balance between being compact, yet still having enough tools to be useful in most situations.

Great little gift at that great price. Picked up three and the Husky bag combo while I was at it. I’m sure the recipients will be happy! Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Picked one up at the local home depot. Great little tool, especially the package opener. Thanks for the review.

I got a wingman last year. I really like it, especially the package opener. The slight movement on the screwdriver bothers me. I tried the sidekick. Its ok, not a big fan on the saw. And the HD package doesn’t include the carbiner.
