Agree Mike. I picked up a shooting plane around 11:50pm last night, minutes after the sale opened up.
When I looked there were 3 pages of items. A few hours later there was 1. By the time I checked it this morning out Of curiosity most of the good hand planes were sold out.

I stayed up this year, as I had promised myself a low angle jack plane and a router plane after missing out over the past couple of years. I checked out at 12:05, and some things were already sold out then!

Like states above I was refreshing the page at 10 til midnight and was able to get a medium shoulder and low angle block plane. While a lot of the items were still in stock for a while the website took forever (up to hours) for the checkout function to work.

Their updated website design was definitely taxed last night and crashed at one point. I have many followers tell me the same thing.

Will I missed this sale. I wanted several planes but they were gone by the time I got the ToolGUyd email and went to the site. It was 0530 Hawaii Time.

Agreed, you need to be on their by midnight at the latest. It varies year by year, but last night the page was live by 11:55pm when I got on.
I had to check out 3x before it took, I was about to go to bed if it didn’t work that last time.
I got a shoulder, router and BU jointer planes. With my Stanley #4 and Veritas low-angle Jack, I think I’m done. I don’t do it for a living, so can’t justify specialized planes.

I must have been very lucky, I saw the page come up at 11:50 and had confirmation email for the 5 planes I ordered at 11:54! There was only one plane on my wishlist which wasn’t on sale.

I bought a low angle jack and jumped on the site right at midnight. It already arrived and I opened the box. I can hardly tell what is even a manufacturing defect on it other than a tiny nick on one side that will never affect anything and I’d likely put there myself over the first year. I’d definitely have no concerns over buying a manufacturing second from them again. May get a shoulder plane and/or router plane next year.

Got a low angle smoother. I was tempted by the low angle Jack, but trying to stay within a budget after buying the flex vacuum. Hope I don’t regret it later. I also got a gift certificate, which I plan to use later on, mainly when they have free shipping. Last year I got a router plane. So maybe one a year.
