Lee Valley Free Shipping Feb 20th 2019

Over at Lee Valley, they’re running one of their semi-annual free shipping promos. You get free standard ground shipping on $40+ orders to Canada and the contiguous USA.

Lee Valley is one of my favorite online woodworking and misc. tool and supply retailers out there. They have their Veritas brand of woodworking hand tools, and carry other brands as well.

Promo ends 2/20/2019.

What are you going to buy?

I’ll likely pick up one or two of their new items for review purposes, and maybe some stuff from my wishlist. It’s also time for a tack cloth resupply.

Which tool? Most Veritas tools that I’m familiar with are made in Canada.

They’ll often tell you on the product page. And if it doesn’t say, it’s most likely imported.

If there’s a product you’re curious about, contact customer service – Lee Valley’s dept. is one of the best.

If you require American made, Lie-Nielsen would be the equivalent quality USA version of their Veritas line tools (hand planes and such). There’s no skimp on quality here though, their products are top notch and their customer service is phenomenal.

My impression was that Veritas was a notch cheaper than Lie-Nielsen, but I might be a few years out of date. I remember concluding that L-N was more traditional (using Bedrock patterns for their planes, for example) and top dollar, while Veritas was cheaper, more modern and just as likely to make me a satisfied customer (unlike the various planes from India.)

Lee Valley has I believe a chain of Canadian retail stores, their own tool factory and I think their customer service skills are at the highest level. I know I’ve asked some tough questions with great results. Plus they have a US mailing point.
    And I’m here in ‘Merica.

Lee Valley has a tradition of making hilariously over-designed tools for April Fool’s Day. These are actual, physical tools, not just drawings. Search their site for “April Fools.” Those Canuks!

One of my favourite companies as well, and one which I’m always glad of the chance to patronize.

Folks who aren’t familiar with the company should read this:

They’re running another free shipping promotion right now, although it’s almost over. It’s running until June 4.
