Amazon’s deal on the Makita 18V cordless tool kit we posted about this morning was so popular that they sold out fast. As expected, they are offering a new “deal of the day” – discounts on Life Gear Highland tactical LED flashlights.
I’m not familiar with Life Gear products, but they seem to be very well reviewed. Life Gear LED flashlights feature CREE LED emitters, water and weather resistance bodies, and multiple lighting modes.

There are four SKUs on sale – a 3C flashlight, a 6C model, a 2x 3C double pack, and a combo pack that comes with 3C, 6C, and two 1AA flashlights. The combo pack also comes with an aluminum case.
These flashlights boast an interesting feature – an emergency red flasher and a glow mode that are powered by button cell batteries. That way you still have some signaling and lighting ability if your main batteries are depleted. On the downside, this feature also adds to the flashlights’ lengths.
Speaking of main batteries – these guys use C-sized cells, which seems to be odd. That’s the one battery size I don’t use on a regular basis, aside from AAAA.

The discount on these selected products isn’t huge, but it’s enough for me to seriously consider whether I or anyone I know needs another bright LED flashlight.
The 3C flashlight outputs 400 lumens, the separate 6C outputs 1000 lumens, the combo 6C outputs 700 lumens, and the 1AA model outputs 80 lumens, max.

Deal is valid through 4/18/2013 unless supplies run out quicker.

1000 lumen cheaper than 700 ?
Stuart
They look alike, but it seems that the separate 6C flashlight has a 1000 lumen emitter, and the 6C flashlight included in the combo outputs 700 lumens. It’s unclear what the difference is, they could just be two similar-looking but different flashlights. In any case, 700 lumens is still way more than enough for most tasks.
